| Card | Earns | Rate here | The cap, and the rule it comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Axis Bank ACE Axis Bank | accelerated | 1.50% | 5% through Google Pay on Android and ZERO on every other platform since 20 Apr 2024; the 5% shares a ₹500-per-statement cap with the 4% category, and a 1% fee applies above ₹25,000 of utility spend a cycle |
| Axis Bank Freecharge Plus Axis Bank | accelerated | 1.00% | 5% when the bill is paid inside the Freecharge app; ZERO when it is paid anywhere else. A separate 1% fee applies above ₹25,000 of utility spend a cycle |
| AU Altura Credit Card AU Small Finance Bank | accelerated | 1.00% | CONTRADICTED ON THE ISSUER'S OWN PAGE. AU headlines 2% cashback on utility bill payments, capped at ₹50 a statement cycle (₹2,500 of spend), while the note below it excludes BBPS transactions from cashback from 1-Apr-2024 — and BBPS is how most Indian utility bills are paid. A biller paid directly, off BBPS, appears to earn the 2%. AU's MITC adds a 1% fair-usage fee on utility spend past ₹50,000 a month |
| Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card Axis Bank | accelerated | 1.00% | 10% cashback on gas, electricity and other utility bills paid through the Airtel Thanks app, capped at ONCE the base cashback earned in the same statement month — a ceiling in units this desk does not convert, so it is quoted and the rung is not priced; the same bill paid anywhere else earns the 1% base cashback, which has no cap |
| RBL Platinum ShopGain RBL Bank | accelerated | 0.25% | CONTRADICTED ON THE ISSUER'S OWN PAGE. The benefit table promises 25 RP/₹100 on utility bills, capped at 500 RP a month (≈₹2,000 of billed spend). The exclusion footnote on the same page puts Utilities (MCC 4900) among the categories that "will not earn reward points". Every value surface here credits the card's normal 1 RP/₹100 rather than the headline, and RBL charges 1% on utility spend past ₹50,000 a month regardless (MITC) |
| RBL MyFirst RBL Bank | accelerated | 0.06% | CONTRADICTED ON THE ISSUER'S OWN PAGE, exactly as on EasySaver: the benefit grid promises 8 RP per ₹400 (2 RP/₹100) on Bill Payment while the 15-Oct-2024 footnote excludes "Bills2pay", RBL's own bill rail (transaction codes 71 and 72). Utilities (MCC 4900) is named in neither footnote. Value surfaces credit the base rate, not the headline; 1% fee past ₹50,000 of utility spend a month (MITC) |
| RBL EasySaver RBL Bank | accelerated | 0.06% | CONTRADICTED ON THE ISSUER'S OWN PAGE. The benefit table promises 8 RP per ₹400 (2 RP/₹100) on Bill Payment; the 15-Oct-2024 footnote on the same page says transactions on "Bills2pay" are not eligible — Bills2Pay being RBL's own bill-payment facility in the MyBank app and internet banking, keyed on transaction codes 71 and 72. Utilities (MCC 4900) itself is named in neither footnote, so a utility bill paid at the biller rather than through Bills2Pay may well earn. Every value surface here credits the card's base rate rather than the headline, and RBL charges a 1% fee on utility spend past ₹50,000 a month regardless (MITC) |
| Axis Bank PRIMUS Axis Bank | full earn | 5.00% | No utilities carve-out in the T&C |
| Air India SBI Signature Card SBI Card | full earn | 3.20% | Utility bills earn the 4 points per ₹100 base — absent from the exclusion list. SBI's MITC still charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) once it passes ₹50,000 in a billing cycle |
| YES Private YES Bank | full earn | 2.50% | The MITC prints "No capping" against this row and no cap is published on utility spend — YES Private is the only card in the MITC's utility reward-point table with no ceiling at all, against 150 on Select and Essence and 300 on Elite+. At 20 Reward Points per ₹200 that is the loosest utility earn YES publishes; the 1% utility fee only starts once last month's utility spend passed ₹1,00,000, four times the ₹25,000 trigger every other variant carries |
| BOBCARD Etihad Guest Premium BOBCARD (Bank of Baroda) | full earn | 2.00% | Utility MCC 4900 is NOT on the official Annexure-1 list — earns 2 miles/₹100; 1% fee on utility txns ≥₹50k (cap ₹3,000/txn) still applies (official MITC) |
| DBS Vantage DBS Bank India | full earn | 2.00% | NOT on the published closed exclusion list (fuel/wallet/duty-free/rent) — relaxed from excluded, inferred from closed list, flag, 2026-07-22 |
| Unity Bank BharatPe Credit Card Unity Small Finance Bank | full earn | 2.00% | Earns the full 2%, uncapped — no ceiling of the kind HDFC, ICICI and Axis all impose on a month's utility spend, because Unity publishes no category ceilings at all |
| Club Vistara SBI Card PRIME SBI Card | full earn | 1.60% | Utility bills accrue at the base rate — absent from the exclusion list. SBI's MITC still charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) once it passes ₹50,000 in a billing cycle |
| SpiceJet Axis Bank Voyage Black Axis Bank | full earn | 1.50% | ACCELERATED: online utility bill payment (MCC 4900) earns 12 SC/₹200 = 3%, double the base. Axis-wide 1% utility fee above ₹25k/cycle |
| ixigo AU AU Small Finance Bank | full earn | 1.25% | Not on the exclusion list — earns base 2.5 RP/₹100 (inferred from absence, flag) |
| Club Vistara SBI Card SBI Card | full earn | 1.20% | Utility bills accrue at the base rate — absent from the exclusion list, though SBI's MITC charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) past ₹50,000 in a billing cycle |
| BOBCARD Etihad Guest BOBCARD (Bank of Baroda) | full earn | 1.00% | Utilities are absent from Annexure 1, so they earn 1 mile per ₹100 — but a 1% processing fee applies once a utility transaction reaches ₹50,000 |
| IDBI Bank LIC Eclat Select IDBI Bank | full earn | 1.00% | 4 Delight Points per ₹100 (1.0%), the best base rate IDBI pays — utilities (4900, 4899, 4816) appear nowhere on the MITC's sixteen-code exclusion annexure |
| SBI AURUM SBI Card | full earn | 1.00% | Base 4 RP/₹100 (community, flag — verify against AURUM T&C) |
| HDFC Bank Millennia HDFC Bank | full earn | 1.00% | Earns the 1% bucket — Millennia's own T&C carries none of the 2,000-point utility caps its Freedom sibling does; a 1% fee applies only to a single utility transaction above ₹50,000, capped ₹3,000 |
| Flipkart SBI Card SBI Card | full earn | 1.00% | Utility bills earn the 1% base — they are absent from both the prose exclusion list and the MCC table. SBI's MITC still charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) once it passes ₹50,000 in a billing cycle, which exactly cancels the 1% earned |
| Paytm SBI Card SELECT SBI Card | full earn | 1.00% | Utility bills earn the 1% base, or 2% paid inside the Paytm app — absent from both exclusion lists. SBI's MITC still charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) past ₹50,000, which exactly cancels the base earn |
| Paytm SBI Card SBI Card | full earn | 1.00% | Utility bills earn the 1% base, or 2% inside the Paytm app; SBI's MITC charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) past ₹50,000, which cancels the base earn outright |
| Marriott Bonvoy HDFC Bank HDFC Bank | full earn | 0.86% | Earns base 2 pts/₹150 — community consensus; not on HDFC's generic exclusion list because card has its own program |
| IRCTC SBI Card Premier SBI Card | full earn | 0.80% | NOTABLE: utilities earn the accelerated 3 RP/₹125 (2.4%) as one half of the 'dining & utilities' pair in the official earn structure |
| IndusInd Pioneer Heritage IndusInd Bank | full earn | 0.80% | Base 1 RP/₹100 (community, flag) |
| Flipkart Axis Bank Super Elite Axis Bank | full earn | 0.80% | Not excluded — base 2 SuperCoins/₹100 |
| BOBCARD Tiara BOBCARD (Bank of Baroda) | full earn | 0.75% | Core 3 RP/₹100 applies — utilities are NOT in Annexure 1 — but §1.2 expressly bars MCC 4900 from the accelerated bucket, and a utility transaction of ₹50,000 or more carries a 1% processing fee capped at ₹3,000 |
| IDBI Bank Euphoria World IDBI Bank | full earn | 0.75% | 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — utilities (4900, 4899, 4816) appear nowhere on the MITC's sixteen-code exclusion annexure |
| IDBI Bank Royale Signature IDBI Bank | full earn | 0.75% | 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — utilities (4900, 4899, 4816) appear nowhere on the MITC's sixteen-code exclusion annexure |
| SpiceJet Axis Bank Voyage Axis Bank | full earn | 0.75% | ACCELERATED: online utility bill payment (MCC 4900) earns 6 SC/₹200 = 1.5%, double the base |
| IndusInd Platinum IndusInd Bank | full earn | 0.60% | Earns the normal rate, but the MITC adds a 1% fee plus GST on cumulative utility spends above ₹25,000 in a statement cycle |

| IndusInd Bank Nexxt Credit Card IndusInd Bank | full earn | 0.53% | The card's ordinary 1 Reward Point per ₹150 — the revision that cut utility bill payments to 0.70 RP per ₹100 elsewhere names Nexxt as exempt |
| IDBI Bank Winnings IDBI Bank | full earn | 0.50% | 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) — utilities (4900, 4899, 4816) appear nowhere on the MITC's sixteen-code exclusion annexure |
| SBI Card ELITE SBI Card | full earn | 0.50% | Utility bills earn the 2 points per ₹100 base — absent from the register's exclusion list. SBI's MITC still charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) once it passes ₹50,000, which at 0.5% is a net loss |
| MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Platinum ICICI Bank | full earn | 0.50% | ₹1 myCash per ₹200, the ordinary domestic rate: the T&C's non-qualifying list is closed and names no utility exclusion, and the MITC's utility cap table does not list this variant. A 1% fee still applies to utility spend above ₹50,000 a cycle. |
| BOBCARD Premier BOBCARD (Bank of Baroda) | full earn | 0.50% | Core 2 RP/₹100 applies — utilities are NOT in Annexure 1 — but §1.2 bars MCC 4900 from the accelerated bucket, and a utility transaction of ₹50,000 or more carries a 1% processing fee capped at ₹3,000 |

| Reliance SBI Card PRIME SBI Card | full earn | 0.50% | Utility bills earn the 2 points per ₹100 base — absent from the exclusion list. SBI's MITC still charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) past ₹50,000 in a billing cycle, which at 0.5% is a net loss |

| IndusInd Duo IndusInd Bank | full earn | 0.50% | The card's ordinary 1 Reward Point per ₹150 — IndusInd's revision that cut utility bill payments to 0.70 RP per ₹100 elsewhere on the shelf is "not applicable for … IndusInd Bank Duo Card" |

| BPCL SBI Card OCTANE SBI Card | full earn | 0.25% | Utility bills earn the 1 point per ₹100 base — the card's exclusion list does not name them. SBI's MITC does charge 1% on the WHOLE cycle's utility spend (MCC 4900) once it passes ₹50,000 in a billing cycle, which at a 0.25% earn is a four-fold net loss |
| SimplyCLICK SBI Card SBI Card | full earn | 0.25% | Utility bills earn the base rate, but SBI's own clause (c) excludes bills paid through the SBI Card website or app from the 5X online multiplier |
| HDFC Bank MoneyBack+ HDFC Bank | full earn | 0.25% | Earns the base rate, but a single utility transaction above ₹50,000 carries a 1% fee capped at ₹3,000 from 1 Aug 2024 |
| Kotak811 Dream Different Kotak Mahindra Bank | full earn | 0.25% | Earns the normal rate, with a 1% fee on cumulative utility spends above ₹35,000 in a statement cycle — the lowest of the RCAS's three thresholds |

| HDFC Infinia Metal HDFC Bank | capped | 3.33% | 5 RP/₹150 up to 2,000 RP/month (≈₹60k spend) since 1-Sep-2024; 1% fee on utility txns >₹50k (1-Jul-2025) |
| HDFC Diners Club Black Metal HDFC Bank | capped | 3.33% | 5 RP/₹150 up to 2,000 RP/month since 1-Sep-2024; 1% fee >₹50k txn |
| ICICI Emeralde Private Metal ICICI Bank | capped | 3.00% | Confirmed 1,000 RP/category/statement-cycle cap (about ₹33,333 of utility spend) — verified directly on ICICI's product page 2026-07-14; the 2,000 RP alternative does not check out, flag resolved |
| HSBC Premier (Metal) HSBC | capped | 3.00% | MCC 4900 — earns 3/₹100 up to the ₹1L/month combined bucket (the 'earns on utilities' pitch is real, but the cap is shared with 10 other categories); HSBC publishes no split of that ceiling, so none of it belongs to utilities alone |
| DBS Altitude DBS Bank India | capped | 2.00% | MCC 4814, 4816, 4899, 4900 share ONE 1,200 Vantage Points a month ceiling with telecom (≈₹60,000 of combined spend) |
| ICICI Times Black ICICI Bank | capped | 2.00% | 2% up to the 5,000 RP/cycle cap bucket (official page + FAQ) shared with insurance, education and government; ICICI publishes no split of that ceiling, so none of it belongs to utilities alone |
| HDFC Regalia Gold HDFC Bank | capped | 1.63% | 5 RP/₹200 post-15-May-2026 up to 2,000 RP/month since 1-Sep-2024 — about ₹80,000 of utility spend |
| Tata Neu Infinity HDFC Bank HDFC Bank | capped | 1.50% | Capped at 2,000 NeuCoins a month at the 1.5% everything-else rate — 1.5 NeuCoins per ₹100, since 1 NeuCoin is ₹1 — about ₹1,33,333 of utility spend a month (HDFC's own product page lists the cap); utility bill-pay via the Tata Neu app earns 5% (community) |
| Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card SBI Card | capped | 1.50% | Capped at 2,000 NeuCoins a month; telecom and cable carry their own separate 2,000 cap |
| HSBC Live+ HSBC | capped | 1.50% | MCC 4900 (Utilities) earns 10%, inside the same shared ₹1,200-a-month accelerator cap |
| Equitas PowerMiles Equitas Small Finance Bank | capped | 1.50% | Earns but capped at 2,000 RP/month (published cap); corrected from full, 2026-07-22 |
| HDFC Diners Club Privilege HDFC Bank | capped | 1.00% | Earns base, capped ~2,000 RP/day and 50,000 RP/statement cycle (CardInsider); 1% fee on utility txns >₹50k |
| Tata Neu Plus SBI Card SBI Card | capped | 1.00% | Capped at 2,000 NeuCoins a month; telecom and cable carry a separate 2,000 cap |
| Paytm HDFC Bank Select HDFC Bank | capped | 1.00% | 5% CashPoints — 5 CashPoints per ₹100, a CashPoint being a rupee against the statement — on utility bills paid inside Paytm, capped at 1,500 CashPoints a calendar month. That ceiling is SHARED across the whole Paytm bucket (recharge, utility, travel, movies and Mini App) and HDFC publishes no split of it, so none of it belongs to a utility bill alone; the same bill paid outside Paytm earns the 1% base |
| YES Bank BYOC (Rewards) YES Bank | capped | 1.00% | Capped at 600 YES Rewardz Points a statement cycle (MCC 4900) — the second loosest ceiling YES publishes. Note the sibling: the BYOC Cashback perk excludes utilities entirely, so the perk you picked decides this answer |
| LIC IDFC FIRST Select IDFC FIRST Bank | capped | 1.00% | Inside the "essentials" bucket (MCCs 4812, 4813, 4814, 4816, 4899, 4900) — earns the 5 RP/₹125 base but the whole bucket is capped at 600 reward points a month, shared with groceries, telecom, education and government. 600 RP at that same 5 RP/₹125 is ₹15,000 a month of bucket spend in all; IDFC publishes no split of that ceiling, so none of it belongs to utilities alone |
| Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card HDFC Bank | capped | 1.00% | Not on HDFC's exclusion list for this card — 1% inside the ₹500-a-cycle other-categories ceiling, and no transaction under ₹100 earns (inferred from absence, flag) |
| Amex Gold Charge American Express | capped | 1.00% | Official FAQ: Gold earns 1 MR/₹50 on utilities CAPPED 10,000 MR/month — only Amex card still earning on utilities |
| PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK SBI Card | capped | 1.00% | Paid inside the PhonePe app, utilities are one of the five accelerated categories at 10 Reward Points per ₹100 — but the PhonePe pool caps at 1,500 points a calendar month. Paid ANYWHERE ELSE they earn zero, MCC 4900, 4814 and 4899. Where you pay the bill decides everything |
| PhonePe SBI Card PURPLE SBI Card | capped | 1.00% | 3 Reward Points per ₹100 when the bill is paid INSIDE the PhonePe app, capped at 750 points a calendar month; utilities paid anywhere else are excluded by MCC (4900, 4814, 4899) and earn nothing at all |
| HDFC Regalia HDFC Bank | capped | 1.00% | 2,000 RP/month cap per the Sep-2024 bank-wide schedule (community), at 4 RP/₹200 post-15-May-2026 — about ₹1,00,000 of utility spend |
| Kotak Zen Signature Kotak Mahindra Bank | capped | 0.83% | Zen Points earn only on the first ₹50,000 of utility spend a statement cycle — MCC 4900, 4814, 4899 and 4812 — and Kotak charges a 1% fee on the cumulative utility spend once it passes ₹50,000 too, so the cap and the fee start at the same rupee |
| YES Bank Wellness Plus YES Bank | capped | 0.75% | Capped at 450 YES Rewardz Points a statement cycle (MCC 4900) per the master MITC version 18; 1% + GST on every utility transaction once last month's utility spend passed ₹25,000 |
| IndianOil HDFC Bank Credit Card HDFC Bank | capped | 0.64% | 5 Fuel Points per ₹100 on utility MCC 4900 (and 4812/4814 on the telecom side), minimum transaction ₹150, capped at 100 Fuel Points a month — about ₹2,000 of bill payments — and zero past the cap |
| YES Essence YES Bank | capped | 0.50% | Capped at 150 YES Rewardz Points a statement cycle per the master MITC — the same ceiling as Select, and the tightest YES sets; 1% + GST on every utility transaction once last month's utility spend passed ₹25,000 |
| SBI Card PRIME SBI Card | capped | 0.50% | This card's one utility perk — 20 points per ₹100 (5%) on utility bills paid by standing instruction, but only until 3,000 points have accrued, after which it falls to the 2-point base. SBI's MITC then charges 1% on the whole cycle's utility spend past ₹50,000 |
| ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver ICICI Bank | capped | 0.50% | 20 RP per ₹100 vs 2 RP per ₹100 base — a 5% accelerator, but the T&C caps the whole accelerated bucket at 400 reward points a statement cycle, which is ₹100 of value a month and no more. Utility spend above ₹50,000 a cycle also draws a 1% fee. |
| IDFC FIRST HPCL Power+ IDFC FIRST Bank | capped | 0.50% | 30 RP/₹150 on the same ₹2,000-a-cycle ceiling grocery draws from — 400 RP total — and a 1% fee lands once utility spend passes ₹20,000 a cycle |
| YES Bank Wellness YES Bank | capped | 0.50% | Reward points on utility spend stop at 300 a statement cycle. Separately, YES charges a 1% fee + GST on every utility transaction once cumulative utility spend passes ₹25,000 in the previous calendar month, capped at ₹5,000 a transaction — Wellness is in the "All other cards" band, not the ₹50,000 tier YES reserves for Marquee, Reserv, UNI and AI Inside |
| HPCL ENERGIE BOBCARD BOBCARD (Bank of Baroda) | capped | 0.33% | 10 RP/₹150 (6.67 RP/₹100) on MCC 4812 and 4899, capped at 1,000 RP a statement cycle shared with departmental stores. MCC 4900 is not in that accelerated list and earns core 2 RP/₹150; a utility transaction of ₹50,000 or more carries a 1% processing fee capped at ₹3,000 |
| Kotak Royale Signature Kotak Mahindra Bank | capped | 0.33% | Points earn only on the first ₹50,000 of utility spend a statement cycle — MCC 4900, 4814, 4899 and 4812 — and the 1% utility fee starts at the same ₹50,000 |
| Kotak UPI RuPay Kotak Mahindra Bank | capped | 0.30% | Since 1 June 2025 reward points are earned on utility spends only up to ₹35,000 a statement cycle; beyond that, nothing — and a 1% fee starts at the same ₹35,000 |
| Kotak League Platinum Kotak Mahindra Bank | capped | 0.27% | The one category League caps rather than cuts — points earn on the first ₹35,000 of utility spend a statement cycle, MCC 4900, 4814, 4899 and 4812, against ₹50,000 on Zen and Royale. The 1% utility fee starts at the same ₹35,000 |
| HDFC Bank UPI RuPay HDFC Bank | capped | 0.25% | 2 CashPoints per ₹100 (0.5% at ₹0.25 a point) with its OWN 500-CashPoint calendar-month ceiling, separate from the 3% bucket — about ₹25,000 of bills a month, worth ₹125 |
| AU LIT Credit Card AU Small Finance Bank | capped | 0.25% | 1 Reward Point per ₹100, capped at 100 RP per TRANSACTION — so a bill above ₹10,000 earns nothing on the excess — and utilities never reach the 5X or 10X rungs even when the feature is bought. AU defines the category as MCC 4812, 4814, 4899 and 4900. 1% fair-usage fee past ₹50,000 of utility spend a month (MITC) |
| AU Altura Plus Credit Card AU Small Finance Bank | capped | 0.25% | 1 Reward Point per ₹100 with a hard 100-RP-per-TRANSACTION ceiling — a ₹15,000 electricity bill earns 100 points, not 150 — and AU's note excludes BBPS transactions from Reward Points entirely, which is the rail most Indian utility bills settle over. 1% fair-usage fee past ₹50,000 of utility spend a month (MITC) |
| YES BANK RuPay Virtual YES Bank | capped | 0.25% | Utility spend earns up to 150 reward points a statement cycle and nothing beyond. YES also charges a 1% fee + GST on each utility transaction once cumulative utility spend passes ₹25,000 in the previous calendar month (capped at ₹5,000 a transaction) — note this is a lifetime-free card, so that fee is the whole cost of holding it |
| Standard Chartered Super Value Titanium Standard Chartered | capped | 0.17% | 5% cashback on utility bills above ₹750, capped at ₹100 a transaction and just ₹100 a MONTH — the tightest of the card's three buckets, so ₹2,000 of utility spend exhausts it. The payment must go through Standard Chartered's own bill-pay platforms; other platforms do not qualify |
| HDFC Bank Freedom HDFC Bank | capped | 0.07% | "Effective 1st September 2024, Reward Points earned on Utility transactions will be capped at 2000 Reward Points per calendar month. Utility MCC: 4900" — about ₹4 lakh of utility spend at 1 point per ₹200 |
| PhonePe HDFC Bank Ultimo HDFC Bank | capped | — | 10% Reward Points via the PhonePe app (MCCs 4814, 4899, 4900) — 10 RP per ₹100 at ₹1 a point — capped at 1,000 points a calendar month across the whole PhonePe bucket, about ₹10,000 of utility spend a month if nothing else in that bucket has used it |
| PhonePe HDFC Bank Uno HDFC Bank | capped | — | 2% Reward Points via the PhonePe app — 2 RP per ₹100 at ₹1 a point — inside a 500-point monthly cap shared with the whole PhonePe bucket, about ₹25,000 of utility spend a month if nothing else in that bucket has used it |
| Standard Chartered Beyond Standard Chartered | reduced | 2.00% | 3 RP per ₹150 (2%) instead of 5 — "Utility Payments" in the §4.1.2 list, uncapped |

| IndusInd Pinnacle World IndusInd Bank | reduced | 0.80% | Excluded from the 2.5 RP online rate; earns base 1 RP/₹100; 1% fee >₹25k/cycle (MITC) |
| BOBCARD Eterna BOBCARD (Bank of Baroda) | reduced | 0.75% | Core 3 RP/₹100 (0.75%) only — MCC 4900 barred from the 5X tier; 1% fee on utility txns ≥₹50k (official) |
| YES Bank RESERV YES Bank | reduced | 0.75% | 'Select category' 6 RP/₹200 (0.75%); utility RP capping per YES MITC — community, flag |
| IDFC FIRST Private IDFC FIRST Bank | reduced | 0.67% | 1 RP/₹150 vs the flat 10 RP/₹150 domestic base (~0.67%) — Utilities is named on the consolidated T&C's 1X list, and IDFC's MITC defines the bucket by MCC as 4814, 4816, 4899, 4900. Private is the one IDFC card exempt from the 1% fair-usage utility fee (MITC footnote ***) |
| IDFC FIRST Gaj IDFC FIRST Bank | reduced | 0.67% | 1 RP/₹150 vs the 5 RP/₹150 base (MCC 4812/4813/4814/4816/4821/4829/4899/4900). Gaj is the ONLY IDFC card whose 1% utility fee starts at ₹50,000 a cycle — every other variant starts at ₹20,000 |

A separate 1% fee applies above ₹25,000 of utility spend a cycle |
| YES First Preferred YES Bank | reduced | 0.50% | A Select category at 4 points per ₹200 vs 8 points per ₹200 on every other eligible spend, and capped at 300 points a statement cycle (MCC 4900); 1% + GST on every utility transaction once last month's utility spend passed ₹25,000 |

Best credit cards for utility bills in India (2026)
The desk's call for the category — a different question from the podium above. The podium ranks what ₹100 of utilities returns on a swipe today; this board ranks on ₹/yr at ₹6,000/mo of bills , and 2 cards tie at the top. Same data, two views, and each says its own question.
Which is the best credit card for paying utility bills in India?
START WITH THE NEGATIVE, because it is the finding: 121 of the 269 whose utility rule this desk holds earn EXACTLY NOTHING on an electricity, water or gas bill — they are named under the table with the clause that zeroes them. 2 cards tie at the top of the 148 that earn anything — HSBC Live+ and PhonePe HDFC Bank Ultimo — on ₹7,200 a year at ₹6,000 a month of bills (₹72,000 a year). HSBC Live+ gets there on 10.00% on a utility bill. Its rate is bounded — 10% accelerated cashback, hard-capped at ₹1,200 a month (HSBC never specifies calendar vs… — and at ₹6,000 a month that bound does not bind. AND 64 OF THE RANKED CARDS CHARGE YOU TO PAY THE BILL — a 1% levy above a threshold each issuer sets for itself. It is quoted verbatim on every row that carries one and it is NOT netted out of the ₹, because the same clause means a transaction on one card and a statement cycle on the next.
Utilities is the category Indian issuers walked away from together: 121 of the 269 whose rule we hold pay ZERO on an electricity bill, and another 54 pay a cut rate the same card never advertises. Here is what is left, priced at ₹6,000 a month of bills.
Verified through · The records behind this board — the card records this ranks and the utilities rules on our fine-print desk — carry re-verification dates from 1 Jun 2026 to 25 Sept 2026; the board is recomputed from them on every build.

4 more questions about this board — how the rate is worked out, and what else readers ask
How is this ranking computed?
THE COUNT FIRST, THEN THE RATE. A card whose published utilities rule zeroes the category is not ranked at ₹0 — a zero is a finding, not a position — so it is named below the table with its own rule, and 121 of the 269 we could price sit there. Of the rest: (1) THE RATE is first-tier earn × the card's published utilities treatment × its currency's house ₹/point — the same expression /spends, /spends/utilities and /wallet crown on — raised only where the card's own earn table publishes a utility rung AND the desk's `utilities` rule in data/mcc.yaml states the same number. (2) THE CEILING is converted to ₹ of bills a month and applied; above it the card earns its ordinary utility rate, and its own monthly earn cap bounds the lot. A rung that SAYS it is capped in units nothing here converts — Paytm HDFC Bank Select's 5% is "Capped at 1,500 CashPoints a calendar month", a real ceiling stated in reward units this board cannot turn into rupees of bill — is refused rather than priced as uncapped, which is the reading that would otherwise crown this board; 2 cards are ranked at the category rate for that reason and each row says so. 4 more cards rank at the category rate for a different reason: the desk's own rule puts their ceiling in ONE bucket shared across categories with no published split, so no ceiling is applied to a utility bill — each row says so. (3) THE LOCK is printed and not discounted: 6 of the 16 priced accelerators exist only inside an app — Google Pay, the Airtel Thanks app, Paytm, CheQ — and the row says which. WHAT IS NOT IN THE NUMBER: the 1% utility fee. 64 ranked rules carry one and every row that does quotes it verbatim, but the issuers write it against different denominators — a transaction on one card, a statement cycle on the next — and the rupee figure beside it is as often the fee's own CAP as its trigger. Netting a charge whose shape we have not modelled would be inventing a number. Nor is a bill-payment CASHBACK OFFER added: those are dated promotions, and /tracker/offers carries them with their end dates. ₹6,000 a month is an urban household's electricity, gas, water and broadband together, and it is stated because it decides which ceilings bind. 275 priced cards carry a utilities rule on the fine-print desk; 370 priced cards have no utilities rule here yet and appear on no part of this page.
How many cards are in this utilities ranking?
148 of the 973 Indian personal cards on the desk are ranked here. 127 are listed unranked with the computed reason — pays nothing on a utility bill — or no number we will stand behind — because a card we can't rank honestly gets named, not hidden. A further 328 are carried but not valued at all — 51 with no annual fee any issuer document states, 231 whose issuer has not published how the card earns, 46 with neither — because scoring an unknown as ₹0 is a claim, not a gap. Business and corporate cards are ranked apart from these: 70 priced ones sit on /best/business, because pricing an MSME card against a personal wallet answers a question nobody asked (ADR 0012).
How up to date is this list?
The records behind this board — the card records this ranks and the utilities rules on our fine-print desk — carry re-verification dates from 1 Jun 2026 to 25 Sept 2026; the board is recomputed from them on every build. Nothing on this page is typed by hand: the podium, the table and the numbers in this answer are all recomputed from those records every time the site builds, so a devaluation moves the ranking the day we log it.
Which credit cards for utility bills in India have no annual fee?
20 of the 148 ranked here are lifetime free. The best on ₹/yr at ₹6,000/mo of bills is ixigo AU at ₹900. This board's call, HSBC Live+, costs ₹999/yr and reaches ₹7,200 — that gap is what the fee buys.

830 cards on the desk have no rule we could read for utilities. They are named here rather than guessed into the ranking above — an unread rule is not a full-earn rule.
Name all 830
Where this comes from
Treatments are read from issuer T&C, reward annexures and FAQs (HSBC and SBI publish full MCC tables; HDFC and Amex publish only category names), corroborated by community reporting where the banks stay vague — those rows say so. Where sources conflict we keep the conservative treatment. "Rate here" is the card's first-tier earn × this category's treatment × our house ₹/point from the valuation index — the same number the wallet winner puts on a swipe. A capped card shows its rate before the cap bites; the rule text names the cap. Issuers churn these rules quarterly — a note's date is the rule's date, not ours.
