What it's worth to you, after the fee
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — and a business card's accelerator is usually the point. This card is not on the board, which ranks personal cards only; it is ranked against other business cards on /best/business, where the tax, GST and vendor-payment rungs ARE credited and its ₹ reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee
At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹100 gross (earn ₹100) against its ₹0 fee = ₹100 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #503
Why #503 A business card carried, not ranked. What it is: a lifetime-free, FD-backed card for a GST-registered business that charges 0% abroad and 12% a year on a revolve — a tenth of what the rest of this shelf charges to carry a balance.
IDFC prints the rate on the product page itself — "1 Reward Point = ₹0.25" — which is the house value for IDFC FIRST Reward Points, so nothing here is marked up or discounted. The currency is closed-loop: IDFC runs no airline or hotel transfer partners at all, at any ratio, so the points redeem against a catalogue and against flights and hotels booked inside IDFC's own app. And they expire: IDFC's own FAQ says "Reward points will be valid for 24 months … from their respective transaction dates", which is the retail shelf's clock rather than the never-expiring one FIRST Business and SWYP get.
The take
Business Max is the cheapest way a GST-registered business gets a real card, and the money argument is not the rewards. It is the interest rate: 12% a year, 1% a month, against the 36% to 47.88% every other card on this shelf charges — because the card is secured against a fixed deposit that keeps earning its own interest while a lien sits on it. For a small business that occasionally carries a balance, that difference dwarfs any earn table. Around it, the travel case is thin but real: forex is now 0% (commercial MITC ModDate 7 Sep 2026 prints Nil), and IDFC pays a bonus on flights and hotels booked in its own app — 20% on hotels and 10% on flights, over and above the base rungs. The earn itself is modest and shaped for online business spend: 6 Reward Points per ₹200 online, 4 offline, 3 on UPI above ₹2,000 and 1 below it, all at a published ₹0.25, which is 0.75% at the top and 0.125% at the bottom. Approval is guaranteed — a ₹10,000 minimum FD, no credit history and no income proof — and the limit is 100% of the deposit, capped at ₹1 lakh through the digital journey until you book more FDs. There is no lounge access here at all, which is the honest reason this card is an interest-and-app-travel instrument rather than a lounge one.

The downgrade
IDFC FIRST Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- Lifetime free — ₹0 to join and ₹0 a year, printed as Nil/Nil in IDFC's commercial MITC
- 0% forex markup since the Sep-2026 commercial MITC (was 1.5%)
- 12% a year on a revolve — the rest of this shelf charges 36% to 47.88%
- Guaranteed approval on a ₹10,000 FD, with no credit history and no income proof
- 20% bonus Reward Points on app hotel bookings and 10% on flights, over and above the base rungs
- UPI-ready on day one, and up to five add-on cards at ₹250 each
- Complimentary roadside assistance four times a year, worth ₹1,399 through Global Assure
Watch out
- No lounge access of any kind — the travel case here is zero forex and the app bonus, not a door
- An active GST number is mandatory; applicants without one "will not be eligible to apply"
- The credit limit is 100% of your FD and caps at ₹1 lakh through the digital journey — more limit means more deposit
- IDFC's page contradicts itself about insurance and utilities: the earn panel grants 1 Reward Point per ₹200 on them (0.125%), while the FAQ five screens down says "Reward Points not applicable on … Insurance … Utility Spends". We carry the panel's rate, which is the one the page leads with — but do not budget on it
- The FAQ zero-rates foreign-currency and international transactions: zero forex saves money abroad, but the points still do not follow. Fuel, EMI, cash, rent and property management earn nothing either
- Reward Points expire 24 months after the transaction that earned them — IDFC's never-expiring shelf (FIRST Business, SWYP) does not include this card
- IDFC Reward Points are closed-loop — no airline or hotel transfer partner exists, at any ratio
- Miss the minimum amount due and the whole cycle's Reward Points are withheld or reversed
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes IDFC FIRST Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

A GST-registered business, an owner over 18, PAN and Aadhaar, and a fixed deposit of at least ₹10,000 created inside the application. IDFC's journey is "Enter PAN, Aadhaar & GST number → FD is created online → Video KYC → Virtual card issued instantly", and it is explicit that no credit history and no income proof are required. The limit equals 100% of the FD, capped at ₹1 lakh in the journey; further FDs raise it from inside the app.

- 9 Sept 2026IDFC FIRST Bank zeroes forex markup on every credit cardA per-card markup table — Nil on a few premium cards, 1% to 3.5% on the rest → NIL on foreign-currency transactions and on dynamic and static currency conversion, bank-wide
IDFC's retail credit-card MITC, re-saved 9 September 2026, replaces the old per-card forex table with one NIL row covering foreign-currency transactions and dynamic and static currency conversion. The commercial and corporate MITCs, re-saved 7 September, print Nil or 0% for the business and corporate cards. Ashva's brochure, re-issued 10 September, says the same and also cuts that card's international earn from 5 reward points per ₹150 to 2X. A widely reported 26 October cut to international reward earning is not in any of those documents, so it is not on the cards. Cards that were already Nil — Mayura, Gaj, WOW, WOW Black, FIRST Private, Diamond Reserve — did not move.
