Welcome: 3,000 Fuel Points (₹1,500 of petrol) on one retail transaction above ₹500 within 30 days — credited within 60 days, and only after the membership fee is paid

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on utilities here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹14,000 a month

At ₹14,000 a month — ₹1,68,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹1,500 gross (earn ₹1,500) against its ₹1,500 fee = ₹0 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

Why #427 The upper half of RBL's fuel pair: twice the base earn, half again the pump rate, and three times the fee. Ranked on the ₹0.50 an IndianOil pump pays for a Fuel Point — the only exit worth taking — with the ₹13,333-a-month accelerator ceiling priced in.

Our #1 for Fuel — 1 of the 23 questions this desk ranks.

₹1,500 + GST
Annual fee1
₹2,75,000 spend
Fee waiver

A Fuel Point is worth ₹0.50 only at an IndianOil pump, through the XTRA Rewards conversion the T&C prints in full: "1 Fuel Point = INR 0.5 on IOCL Petrol Pump ... 3 Fuel Point = 5 XTRA Reward Point" at ₹0.30 each. The same T&C sets a Fuel Point at ₹0.10 on RBL's own rewards portal — a fifth as much. Every number here assumes the pump.

The take

RBL's fuel range has two rungs, and this is the one that earns like a real card off the forecourt. Two Fuel Points per ₹100 on ordinary spend is 1% at the ₹0.50 pump rate — double the cheaper IndianOil card and respectable for ₹1,500 — and fifteen points per ₹100 at an IndianOil station is 7.5%, one of the highest single-category rates published in India. Add 1,000 Fuel Points every quarter you spend ₹75,000 and a 3,000-point welcome, and the fee waives at ₹2,75,000 a year, or ₹22,900 a month. The ceilings are where it gets sober. The accelerated leg stops at 2,000 Fuel Points a month, which is ₹13,333 of petrol and ₹12,000 of value a year; RBL's "250 litres free" headline is that sum, not a promise. And the currency has one door: a Fuel Point buys ₹0.50 of fuel at an IOCL pump via XTRA Rewards, and ₹0.10 of anything on RBL's own portal. Miss the pump and the 7.5% becomes 1.5%. There is no lounge on this card — RBL's page and T&C never use the word — no transfer partner, and no forex relief: the markup is the standard 3.5% and the bank's 0% carve-out names only the Safari family and Lumière. Buy it if you put ₹10,000 a month or more of petrol through an IndianOil pump and treat the points as a fuel rebate. On those terms it is the strongest fuel card RBL sells.

The downgrade

RBL Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What has changed under this card

  • 7 Jan 2026 RBL bolts a 1% fee onto FASTag loads and tolls — the fifth 1% line on its charge sheet issuer-wide
  • 1 Jul 2025 RBL gates domestic lounges behind ₹35k a quarter issuer-wide
  • 15 Oct 2024 RBL strips points from education, government and wallet spends issuer-wide

We price what is in force today — a change that has not happened yet is not in these numbers. the full archive for this card →

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 15 Fuel Points per ₹100 at IndianOil pumps — 7.5% back at RBL's own ₹0.50 conversion
  • 2 Fuel Points per ₹100 everywhere else — a full 1%, twice the cheaper IndianOil card
  • 1,000 Fuel Points every calendar quarter you spend ₹75,000
  • 3,000 Fuel Points (₹1,500) welcome, on one ₹500 transaction within 30 days
  • ₹1,500 fee waived on ₹2,75,000 of eligible annual spend
  • 1% fuel-surcharge waiver up to ₹200 a month, on fills between ₹500 and ₹4,000

Watch out

  • A Fuel Point is ₹0.50 ONLY at an IndianOil pump — RBL's own portal pays ₹0.10, a fifth as much
  • The 15X stops at 2,000 Fuel Points a month, so the accelerated leg is worth at most ₹12,000 a year
  • Accelerated points only at IOCL outlets on the TID/MID list IndianOil publishes, not every IndianOil pump
  • Utilities, insurance, rent, education, wallets, government, railways, cash, Bills2Pay and EMI earn nothing — and count toward neither the quarterly milestone nor the fee waiver
  • No lounge access of any kind — neither the product page nor the card T&C mentions one
  • Forex 3.5% + GST; RBL's 0% markup carve-out names only the Safari family and Lumière
  • The welcome benefit and the fee waiver both require the membership fee to have been paid first
  • The ₹2,75,000 waiver bar is ₹22,900 a month of ELIGIBLE spend — the exclusion list makes that harder than it reads

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes IndianOil Fuel Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't

11 sourced rules · 7 pay zero

The upper rung of RBL's IndianOil pair. Base earn is 2 Fuel Points per ₹100; fuel at an IndianOil station on an IOCL-listed TID/MID earns 15 per ₹100, capped at 2,000 Fuel Points a month. A Fuel Point is ₹0.50 at an IOCL pump and ₹0.10 on RBL's own rewards portal, so every rate below is quoted at the pump rate. The exclusion list kills the ₹75,000 quarterly milestone and the ₹2,75,000 fee-waiver count as well as the points — but unlike the cheaper IndianOil card, neither the page nor the T&C excludes Fuel & Auto.

Fuel accelerated — 15 Fuel Points per ₹100 ≈ 7.5% at IndianOil stations on the TID/MID list IOCL publishes, capped at 2,000 Fuel Points a month; past the cap and at any other brand the base 2 per ₹100 applies, since this card's documents carry no Fuel & Auto exclusion. Separately, 1% fuel-surcharge waiver up to ₹200 a month on fills of ₹500–4,000
Rent & property management excluded — No Fuel Points — "Real Estate/Rental" (MCC 6513) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table
Government / tax excluded — No Fuel Points — "Government Services" (MCC 9400, 1490, 2490, 2995, 7800, 9406, 9222, 9405, 9399, 9211, 9402, 9401, 9311, 9223) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table
Utilities (electricity/water/gas) excluded — No Fuel Points — "Utilities" (MCC 4900) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table, and excluded from the quarterly milestone and the fee-waiver count too
Insurance excluded — No Fuel Points — "Insurance" (MCC 6300, 6310) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table
Education excluded — No Fuel Points — "Education" (MCC 8220, 8244, 8249, 8211, 8241, 8299) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table
Wallet loads excluded — No Fuel Points — "Wallets/Service Providers" (MCC 6540) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table
Groceries & supermarkets not applicable
Dining & food delivery full — A restaurant bill earns the card's base and nothing more — 2 Fuel Points per ₹100, worth about 1% at the ₹0.50 an IOCL pump pays for a Fuel Point and about 0.2% on RBL's own rewards portal. Dining appears on neither the T&C §3.8 exclusion table nor the product page's own note, and this card has no dining accelerator at all; its 15X is fuel at an IOCL outlet on an IndianOil-listed TID/MID
Telecom not applicable
Jewellery / gold not applicable
Forex / international spends full — Foreign spend is on no exclusion list and earns the base 2 Fuel Points per ₹100 — but against a 3.5% + GST markup, so the 1% back never covers it
UPI (RuPay-on-UPI only) reduced — The RuPay variant runs on UPI, but T&C §3.6 carves out offline UPI transactions under ₹2,000 at merchants with turnover up to ₹20 lakh — those earn no Fuel Points, no milestone credit and no other product benefit
EMI conversions / merchant EMI excluded — No Fuel Points on EMI conversions of retail transactions, including Split-N-Pay and EMI requests placed at the point of sale — named in T&C §3.2, §3.3 and §3.5
  • Rent & property management · excluded No Fuel Points — "Real Estate/Rental" (MCC 6513) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table
  • Wallet loads · excluded No Fuel Points — "Wallets/Service Providers" (MCC 6540) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table
  • Fuel · accelerated 15 Fuel Points per ₹100 ≈ 7.5% at IndianOil stations on the TID/MID list IOCL publishes, capped at 2,000 Fuel Points a month; past the cap and at any other brand the base 2 per ₹100 applies, since this card's documents carry no Fuel & Auto exclusion. Separately, 1% fuel-surcharge waiver up to ₹200 a month on fills of ₹500–4,000
  • Utilities (electricity/water/gas) · excluded No Fuel Points — "Utilities" (MCC 4900) on the T&C's §3.8 exclusion table, and excluded from the quarterly milestone and the fee-waiver count too

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?

not published — and we say which

₹2,75,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹1,500 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.

Not published. RBL Bank states what the IndianOil RBL Bank XTRA Credit Card earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹2,75,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

RBL publishes no income floor, no age band and no eligibility criteria for this card in any of its own documents. Two things worth knowing: the 3,000-point welcome is paid only after the first statement's membership fee is settled by the due date and lands up to 60 days later, and an IndianOil XTRA Rewards Loyalty ID is generated at onboarding — without one the Fuel Points have nowhere to convert.

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.

Forex markup 3.5% + GST — the MITC prints "3.5% on all cards" and names 0% only for the World Safari family and Lumière. This card is in no carve-out
APR Bureau-score-tiered: 3.35%/mo (40.20%/yr) at CIBIL >775; 3.85%/mo (46.20%/yr) at 725–775; 3.99%/mo (47.88%/yr) below 725

Cash advance 2.5%, min ₹500
Add-on card ₹200 per add-on cardmember per year — the MITC's per-variant table prints ₹200 in this card's own Add-on Card column
Overlimit Nil — RBL levies no overlimit fee on any card
Redemption fee ₹99 + GST per redemption day on the RBL rewards portal — but converting Fuel Points to XTRA Rewards for redemption at an IndianOil pump is the exit this card is built for, and no fee is published on it

Fee ₹1,500 + GST in both the 1st-year and 2nd-year-onwards columns, waived on eligible annual spends of ₹2.75 lakh, so there is no separate joining charge. Earn is 15 Fuel Points per ₹100 at IndianOil fuel stations (capped 2,000 Fuel Points a month, and only at the TID/MIDs IOCL lists) and 2 Fuel Points per ₹100 elsewhere, plus 1,000 Fuel Points per calendar quarter on ₹75,000 of eligible spend. A Fuel Point is worth ₹0.50 redeemed at an IOCL pump via XTRA Rewards and ₹0.10 on RBL's own rewards portal — the T&C prints both rates. Fuel Points, the quarterly milestone and the fee-waiver count all exclude Utilities, Insurance, Quasi-Cash, Railways, Real Estate/Rental, Education, Wallets, Government Services, Contracted Services, Cash, Miscellaneous, Bills2Pay and EMI conversions; neither the page nor the T&C excludes Fuel & Auto on this card. Fuel-surcharge waiver 1% up to ₹200 a month, on fills of ₹500–4,000, processed on the 23rd. Offline UPI transactions under ₹2,000 at merchants with turnover under ₹20 lakh earn nothing. No lounge benefit is published on this card. RBL publishes no income or age criteria for it, and the Schedule of Charges PDF does not list it at all.

RBL relaunches the Shoppers Stop co-brand as a Gold / Platinum / Black trio
An older single Shoppers Stop co-brand line → Three tiers — Gold (₹1,000), Platinum (₹5,000), Black (₹10,000) annual — earning 10 RP/₹200 (Gold, Platinum) or 15 RP/₹200 (Black) across the Shoppers Stop Universe, with points worth ₹0.25 / ₹0.50 / ₹1.00 respectively

RBL rebuilt its Shoppers Stop co-brand into a three-card ladder. The fee rung buys a richer point, not just more of them: a Reward Point is worth ₹0.25 on Gold, ₹0.50 on Platinum and ₹1.00 on Black, so Black's 15 RP per ₹200 at ₹1 a point is a genuine 7.5% back on First Citizen days inside the Shoppers Stop Universe. Welcome vouchers scale the same way (₹500 quarterly on Gold, ₹2,000 plus Platinum membership and a makeover on Platinum, ₹1,500 quarterly on Black). No lounge access on any of the three — these are store cards and earn like it, with value only inside Shoppers Stop. All three are already on our board.
