What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: 2,500 reward points worth about ₹625 — released only on realisation of the ₹500 joining fee AND a first swipe within 60 days of card set-up
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹7,000 a month
At ₹7,000 a month — ₹84,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹300 gross (earn ₹300) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹500 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹75,000 a year = ₹300 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #871
Why #871 An online-shopping card whose accelerated rate is 0.83% and whose base rate is a third of one percent. The milestone rungs are the only real money in it, and they need ₹4 lakh a year to pay ₹2,500. Kotak has withdrawn it; this page exists for the readers still holding one.
A Solaris reward point is worth 25 paise, and for once Kotak shows its working: the value chart prices the 2,500-point joining gift at "Rs. 625 approx" and the 10,000-point top milestone at "Rs. 2500" — both exactly a quarter of a rupee a point. Redeem toward airline tickets, merchandise or a mobile recharge and the points first convert at 2 Reward Points to 1 EasyPoint, which is the step where most of the catalogue's headline rates go to die.
The take
The Solaris Platinum was Kotak's answer to the online shopper, and it is a lesson in how a multiplier can flatter a rate into meaninglessness. Five reward points per ₹150 on every online purchase reads like a strong accelerator. It is 0.83%. Everything else earns two per ₹150 — 0.33% — because a Kotak reward point on this card is worth 25 paise and Kotak's own value chart says so twice, pricing the 2,500-point joining gift at ₹625 and the top milestone at ₹2,500. What actually pays here is the milestone ladder: ₹2 lakh of annual spend releases 4,000 points, ₹4 lakh releases 10,000, and at 25 paise that top rung is ₹2,500 — five times the ₹500 annual fee, which the same ₹4 lakh has already waived four times over. If you put four lakh a year through this card the arithmetic works. If you put one lakh through it you clear the fee waiver at ₹75,000, earn about ₹330 of points, and that is the entire year. Underneath sit the ordinary Kotak plumbing benefits: a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹400 and ₹3,500, capped at ₹100 a statement cycle; a railway surcharge waiver capped at ₹500 a calendar year; and ₹1,25,000 a year of lost-card liability cover. There is no lounge access of any kind, no airline or hotel transfer partner behind the currency, and a 3.5% forex markup — this is a domestic online card and nothing more. Kotak has since withdrawn it: Solaris is absent from every table in the current cardholder agreement, including the ones that still name products renamed eight years ago. If you hold one, it is a fine card for the four-lakh spender and a fee-shaped hole for everyone else.
Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel
This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.
Keep, downgrade or cancel
₹500/yr at stake · 5 spend bands
The charge ₹500/yr
The waiver ₹75,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹6,250 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹7,000 a month — ₹84,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.
At your spend
₹2,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹4,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹6,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹14,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹22,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade
Kotak Mahindra Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
What has changed under this card
- 8 Sep 2026 Flying Blue splits award tickets into Light / Standard / Flex — a 25% rise for the same product a program these points reach
- 1 Jun 2025 Kotak's June-2025 fee wave washes over the premium deck issuer-wide
- 12 Feb 2025 RBI lifts Kotak's ten-month card-issuance ban issuer-wide
We price what is in force today — a change that has not happened yet is not in these numbers. the full archive for this card →

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- 5 reward points per ₹150 on every online purchase — 0.83% at 25 paise a point
- ₹2 lakh of annual spend releases 4,000 bonus points; ₹4 lakh releases 10,000, worth ₹2,500
- The ₹500 annual fee waives on ₹75,000 of retail spend in the year
- 2,500 joining points worth about ₹625, on fee realisation plus a first swipe inside 60 days
- ₹1,25,000 a year of cover against unauthorised transactions after a loss or theft
Watch out
- The base rate is 0.33% — 2 reward points per ₹150 at 25 paise each
- Fuel and railway spend earns NOTHING; Kotak's FAQ says so for each in one line
- MOTO, IVR and standing-instruction transactions are billed as card-present, so an online merchant billed that way pays the base rate, not the 5x
- Redeeming toward airline tickets, merchandise or a recharge first converts 2 Reward Points into 1 EasyPoint
- No lounge access at all — Kotak's India lounge programme names its eligible variants set by set and Solaris is in none of them
- 3.5% forex markup, and the fuel surcharge waiver stops at ₹100 a statement cycle on transactions of ₹400–₹3,500
- Withdrawn — Solaris appears nowhere in Kotak's current Retail Credit Card Agreement, not even in the lists that still name renamed products
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Kotak Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹75,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹500 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. Kotak Mahindra Bank states what the Kotak Solaris Platinum earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver and the milestones — the ₹75,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

Can you get it?
the route in — no cutoffs published
The cutoffs and the actual route in — not the "apply now" button, the door that opens.
Closed to new applications — existing cardholders keep the card; there is no way in.
You cannot. Kotak has withdrawn the Solaris Platinum and removed its product page; the current Retail Credit Card Agreement & Schedule of Charges does not name it in any table. When it was sold, the published gate was age 21 to 65 for the primary cardholder, 18 and above for an add-on, and an income of ₹5 lakh a year or more. The nearest live Kotak card for an online spender is the Kotak League Platinum at ₹499, which pays less, or the Kotak Cashback+ at ₹750.
Kotak Mahindra Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

- 30 Sept 2026Dream Different's unredeemed reward points expire after 30 September 2026Reward points accrued on the Dream Different Credit Card up to 31 March 2026 sitting in the account with no stated expiry date → A hard forfeiture date — "After 30th September, 2026, any unredeemed Reward Points will automatically expire"
The second half of the note that closed the programme is the part holders can still act on. Kotak's cardholder agreement gives every Dream Different point accrued up to 31 March 2026 a six-month redemption window that shuts on 30 September 2026, after which unredeemed points are forfeited outright. At the agreement's own conversion rate of 25 paise per point, a year of the card's headline 4-points-per-₹100 online earn on ₹1 lakh of online spend is roughly 4,000 points, about ₹1,000 — small money, but money that becomes zero on 1 October. Points redeem against the Kotak catalogue (flights, hotels, vouchers, merchandise) or as a statement credit through the rewards portal or the contact centre, each with its own minimum, so a last-week redemption risks missing the date on processing alone.
