a year at ₹40,000 a month, after the fee

What it's worth to you, after the fee
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee
At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹100 gross (earn ₹100) against its ₹0 fee = ₹100 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

The take
Edge+ matters for one reason: nothing else on this desk's board earns Jupiter Jewels, and Jewels are one of only two non-bank currencies here with a live airline exit — 6 Jewels buy 1 Air India Maharaja point on Air India's own partner page. That exit is a mixed bag on its own arithmetic (₹0.133/Jewel against a ₹0.20 top rate, worth taking only if the Maharaja miles ride a premium cabin), but it exists, and Edge+ is the on-ramp. The card itself is a one-time ₹999 charge (currently run as a ₹0 limited-time promo in the Jupiter app) with no annual fee ever, paying up to 50 Jewels per ₹100 on a named list of shopping merchants and 25 on Jupiter Flights, both capped hard per billing cycle. Everything else earns a flat 5 Jewels per ₹100 (1%). Set against that: 3.5% forex on every international transaction, no lounge access anywhere on the card, and CSB Bank's own MITC states outright that Edge+ cannot withdraw cash from any ATM, in India or abroad. Jewels also stop accruing the moment the minimum amount due goes unpaid, and lapse entirely after 365 days of card inactivity or 90 days of unpaid dues. Worth holding if you want the Jewels door open and will actually clear the shopping/flights caps; skip it as a general-spend card.

The downgrade
CSB Bank / Jupiter (Amica Financial Technologies) publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
If you call to cancel
What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- Genuinely lifetime-free after a one-time ₹999 charge (currently waived to ₹0 as a limited-period Jupiter app offer)
- The only Indian card that mints Jupiter Jewels — a real transfer route to Air India Maharaja Club at 6:1
- Up to 50 Jewels/₹100 (≈10%) on named shopping merchants, capped at 10,000 Jewels/cycle
- 25 Jewels/₹100 (≈5%) on Jupiter Flights, capped at 5,000 Jewels/cycle — the accelerator that clears gate 4
Watch out
- 3.5% forex on every international transaction — no low-markup tier on this card
- No lounge access of any kind, anywhere on the card
- Cannot withdraw cash from any ATM, in India or overseas — CSB's own MITC states this explicitly
- Jewels stop earning the moment the minimum amount due goes unpaid, and lapse after 365 days of card inactivity or 90 days of unpaid dues
- Redemption value splits in half depending on category: ₹0.20/Jewel on flights/store/vouchers/gold, but only ₹0.14/Jewel on statement credit, bills and cash
- The 50-Jewel shopping rate excludes gift cards (MCC 5947), utility bills (MCC 4900), subscriptions and insurance — buying an Amazon Pay gift card on Amazon does not earn it
What these points actually fly
Jupiter Jewels move to Air India Maharaja Points — and that programme prices every award dynamically. There is no published chart to quote, so we quote nothing: an estimate is not a seat.
