What it's worth to you, after the fee

Welcome: "Welcome benefits worth ₹5,000" — DCB will only say it is "a combination of discounts, vouchers, and promotional benefits", with nothing itemised.

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. Everything we can source — the fee, the charges, the migration that put this card in your hand — is above and stands on its own; this card is simply not on the board, not in the calculator, and cannot win a best-of call until DCB Bank publishes terms we can cite.

RuPay — Select tier, named in the KFS fee table as "DCB novio Credit Card (Rupay Select)". UPI-linkable — DCB's page says "seamless UPI payments on platforms such novio App, PhonePe, and Google Pay". The lounge programme is NPCI's.

Why #409 Four lounge visits a year for a ₹25,000 deposit and no fee at all — the only genuinely lifetime-free card on the board that opens a lounge door. It ranks on that and nothing else: DCB publishes no rate for its coins, so there is no earn here to value.

The take

The Select variant of DCB's novio card does something no other lifetime-free card in India does: it opens a lounge door. One complimentary domestic visit a quarter, four a year, on NPCI's RuPay list — for a fixed deposit of ₹25,000 that stays yours and keeps earning up to 7% while it is pledged. There is no joining fee, no annual fee, no income proof and no credit check; the KFS prints Nil against both fee lines for both variants. Everything else about it is honest and small. The foreign-currency markup is 2.5%, a point below the Indian norm but a long way from zero. The rewards are novioCoins, and neither DCB nor novio publishes a rate for them: the MITC's own rewards table is an image, the FAQ manages only an unquantified "up to" claim on UPI spend, and the coins come off discounts at Amazon, Flipkart and Domino's inside the novio app. We will not print a return we cannot compute, so this card is carried and not ranked on value. Take it as a second card for the lounge and the credit file — it costs nothing to hold forever, and the ₹25,000 is a deposit, not a fee. Do not take it expecting to be paid.

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

There is no renewal arithmetic to run on this card yet — and a break-even we cannot source is not one we will print.

Keep, downgrade or cancel

what we can and cannot price

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. A break-even is the spend at which value crosses a fee, and we are short one side of that sentence — so this desk prints no ladder, no crossing and no ₹0 standing in for either. What we can source about this card is under Sources.

The downgrade

DCB Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and we cannot price either side of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • Genuinely lifetime free — the KFS reads Nil joining and Nil annual for both novio variants
  • One complimentary domestic lounge visit per quarter, four a year, on NPCI's RuPay list
  • Needs a ₹25,000 fixed deposit for the Select variant — and the deposit earns up to 7% p.a. while pledged
  • 2.5% foreign-currency markup, a point below the 3.5% Indian norm
  • No income proof and no credit history; virtual card instantly, physical card in 5–7 days
  • Credit limit is 90% of the linked deposit; top up the FD in the novio app to raise it
  • 1% fuel-surcharge waiver up to ₹100 a statement cycle on fuel transactions up to ₹5,000

Watch out

  • NOBODY PUBLISHES A COIN RATE — the MITC's rewards table is an image, the FAQ offers only an unquantified "up to" claim on UPI spend, and no ₹-per-novioCoin exists anywhere. We refuse to print a return we cannot compute
  • novioCoins redeem only as discounts at partner merchants inside the novio app — no transfers, no statement credit, no cash
  • Rewards are a QUARTERLY SPEND MILESTONE, not a per-swipe rate; rent, wallet loads, gaming, gambling, fuel and cash are excluded
  • The "welcome benefits worth ₹5,000" are never itemised — DCB's own FAQ answers the question with "a combination of discounts, vouchers, and promotional benefits"
  • ₹599 to close the card within a year — more than double the PayLess variants' ₹250
  • 36% a year (3% a month) on revolving credit; ₹500 late fee above ₹1,000 outstanding
  • ATM cash costs 2.5% or ₹299, whichever is higher, and cash is capped at 50% of the limit or ₹1,00,000
  • The whole card lives in the novio app — application, limit, bill payment, closure

What these points actually fly

DCB Bank has not published what this card earns, so there are no points here to fly with — not zero points, and not points that go nowhere: nothing stated either way. The moment a benefit sheet exists we will price whatever it names.

No income proof, no credit history, no branch. Download the novio app, apply for the DCB novio Credit Card, book a DCB fixed deposit inside the app, pick the Select variant and confirm the embossing name, nominee and delivery address. The variant is decided by the deposit: DCB's own table gives Platinum to deposits of ₹2,000–₹24,999 and Select from ₹25,000 up, and a free physical card once the cumulative deposit reaches ₹10,000. A virtual card is issued on approval and the physical card follows in five to seven working days. The credit limit is 90% of the pledged deposit, and topping up the FD in the app raises it.

The fine print

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.

Forex markup 2.5% of the transaction value, plus GST
APR 3%/mo (36% annualised)
Late fee Nil ≤₹100; ₹100 (₹101–1,000); ₹500 (>₹1,000)
Cash advance 2.5% of the transaction value, plus an ATM withdrawal fee of 2.5% or ₹299, whichever is higher; cash is capped at 50% of the limit or ₹1,00,000, whichever is lower
Add-on card not published
Overlimit not published
Redemption fee not published

FEE COLUMNS: the KFS names both variants in one table under "Joining Fee / Annual Fee" and both rows read Nil / Nil. Genuinely lifetime free. The variant is decided by the deposit — Select needs ₹25,000 and above; credit limit is 90% of the pledged deposit, which keeps earning up to 7% p.a. LOUNGE: the MITC's section-11 table grants "DCB novio Credit Card – Select Variant | 1 per Quarter" domestic, no international visits, 4 a year in total, at lounges on NPCI's rupay.co.in/lounges list; unused visits lapse at the end of the quarter and a non-refundable ₹2 authorisation is taken at entry. REWARD RATE UNPUBLISHED, exactly as on the Platinum variant: the MITC's section-10 rewards table is an IMAGE, the readable prose gives only the shape ("powered by novio"; "Rewards will be given in the first month of the next Quarter on achieving the above mentioned spend based milestone"), and the FAQ offers "up to 10% rewards on UPI transactions, as per applicable terms". novioCoins redeem as merchant discounts inside the novio app with no published ₹-per-coin — hence the absent (unpublished) earn rate. Reward exclusions: rent, wallet loading, online gaming, gambling, fuel, cash withdrawal. 1% fuel-surcharge waiver up to ₹100 a statement cycle on fuel up to ₹5,000. Both variants carry an unspecified complimentary insurance cover — the MITC states its existence and no sum insured, so none is printed. Reissue and replacement ₹250 each. Closure ₹599 within a year.
