What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: Kotak811 advertises "₹1500 worth vouchers" plus a free OTT subscription and a ₹250 gift voucher on the product page, each asterisked to a separate welcome-offer T&C the bank does not publish inline — treat the figures as the issuer's claim, not a modelled value.
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee
At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹0 gross (earn ₹0) against its ₹0 fee = ₹0 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
1 notes on the card itself: how it is issued
A Kotak point is worth three different things depending on which Kotak card earned it, and the Revised Cardholder Agreement prints the spread itself. Dream Different sits on the middle rung: "25 paise per point", the same rate as Zen Signature and Royale Signature and the house value for the currency — so nothing is baked into `earn.base` here. Points redeem against the Kotak catalogue (flights, hotels, vouchers, merchandise) with no minimum, or as cashback from 2,000 points on the rewards portal / 4,000 through the contact centre.
The take
This is an FD-backed card, and the interesting thing about it is not the credit-building pitch — it is the foreign-currency markup. Kotak's Revised Cardholder Agreement puts Dream Different on the 2% list alongside Kotak Infinite, White Reserve and the Air+ cards, against 3.50% for the rest of the shelf. So a ₹10,000 fixed deposit and ₹424 buys you a card that costs 1.5 percentage points less than the Indian norm every time you spend abroad, with no income proof, no CIBIL score and no annual fee ever. On the earn side it is modest and honest: 4 reward points per ₹100 online since April 2025, 1 per ₹100 elsewhere, at Kotak's 25 paise a point — so 1.0% online and 0.25% off it. There is no lounge access. Two dated changes landed together on 1 September 2026 and you should know both: the joining fee went from ₹250 to ₹424 and the ₹18,000-credit-limit waiver disappeared entirely, and from the September billing cycle Kotak replaced the reward-points programme with a cashback programme whose rates it has still not published anywhere — its own agreement says only "for details regarding cashback structure ... refer website". Take the card for the forex and the free renewal; the earn rate below is the old points table and no longer describes what the card pays.

The downgrade
Kotak Mahindra Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
What has changed under this card
- 30 Sep 2026 Dream Different's unredeemed reward points expire after 30 September 2026
- 8 Sep 2026 Flying Blue splits award tickets into Light / Standard / Flex — a 25% rise for the same product a program these points reach
- 1 Sep 2026 Kotak's Dream Different joining fee goes ₹250 → ₹424 and the waiver disappears

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- 2% foreign-currency markup — 1.5 points below India's 3.5% norm, on a card that costs nothing to keep
- No annual fee, ever — the KFS Annual Fee column reads NIL
- 4 reward points per ₹100 on online spends since 25-Apr-2025 — 1.0% at Kotak's 25-paise rate
- Backed by a fixed deposit from ₹10,000 that keeps earning interest — no income proof and no CIBIL score needed
- Railway and fuel surcharge waivers; no over-limit charge and no credit-limit-increase fee
Watch out
- The joining fee went ₹250 → ₹424 on 1 September 2026 and the ₹18,000-credit-limit waiver went with it — 'no waiver will be applicable'
- Since the September 2026 billing cycle the reward-points programme has been replaced by a cashback programme whose rates Kotak has still NOT published
- Kotak's Revised Cardholder Agreement (31-Jul-2026) states the Dream Different reward-points programme was discontinued effective 1 April 2026 and that any points unredeemed after 30 September 2026 EXPIRE — burn your balance before then. The same document still prints the old accrual table, so Kotak's own papers disagree on the timeline; the earn rate shown here is what that table states and should not be relied on past September
- 0.25% on everything that is not an online spend
- NO airport lounge access
- The metal form of the same card costs ₹3,500 to join and gets no waiver at all
- Your fixed deposit stays locked for as long as the card is open
- 2% fee on rent payments; 1% on utility spends above ₹35,000 and fuel above ₹25,000 a statement cycle
- Since 1 September 2026 a ₹170 cancellation fee applies if you close it within 90 days of issuance
- Dynamic currency conversion dropped from 3.5% to 2% on 1 September 2026 — the one change that went the reader's way
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Kotak Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

6 sourced rules
The Revised Cardholder Agreement's rewards table gives this card exactly two earn rows — special category "Online Spends" at "2 rewards/ ₹100 W.e.f. 25th April, 2025 - 4 rewards/₹100", and other category at "1 reward/ ₹100" — converting at 25 paise a point. Everything below the first row is a fee or waiver rule from the same document rather than an earn rule, and is labelled as such. THE EXPIRY HAS ARRIVED: section F of the same agreement replaced the reward-points programme with a cashback programme from the September 2026 billing cycle and left the rates to "refer website", so every earn figure below is the SUPERSEDED points table and the exclusion list is unre-read. Kotak has published no successor rates a desk can read; nothing here is re-priced on a guess. No `qualifying:` block — the annual fee is NIL, so there is no waiver gate, and Kotak publishes no milestone ladder for this card.

FD-BACKED. KFS fee row: "Dream Different Credit Card | ₹250/NIL/ ₹3500 for Metal Dream Different Credit Card | NIL | Waived | Credit Limit should be >= ₹18,000 on date of card activation". The RCAS adds the dated change: joining becomes ₹424 from 1-Sep-2026 and "no waiver will be applicable" from the same date. Rewards: 4 points/₹100 on online spends since 25-Apr-2025 (2 before), 1 point/₹100 elsewhere, 25 paise a point — and section F of the RCAS replaces the whole programme with a CASHBACK programme from the September 2026 billing cycle, with the rates left to "refer website" and published nowhere, so no cashback rate is modelled. No lounge access. Railway and fuel surcharge waivers (fuel ₹500–₹4,000, max ₹3,500 an anniversary year). Rent 2%; utility 1% above ₹35,000 and fuel 1% above ₹25,000 a statement cycle. Credit-limit-increase fee NIL. Cancellation ₹170 within 90 days of issuance, from 1-Sep-2026. Kotak811's own page prints the forex markup as "0.035%", which contradicts the RCAS's 2% — the RCAS governs.

- 30 Sept 2026Dream Different's unredeemed reward points expire after 30 September 2026Reward points accrued on the Dream Different Credit Card up to 31 March 2026 sitting in the account with no stated expiry date → A hard forfeiture date — "After 30th September, 2026, any unredeemed Reward Points will automatically expire"
The second half of the note that closed the programme is the part holders can still act on. Kotak's cardholder agreement gives every Dream Different point accrued up to 31 March 2026 a six-month redemption window that shuts on 30 September 2026, after which unredeemed points are forfeited outright. At the agreement's own conversion rate of 25 paise per point, a year of the card's headline 4-points-per-₹100 online earn on ₹1 lakh of online spend is roughly 4,000 points, about ₹1,000 — small money, but money that becomes zero on 1 October. Points redeem against the Kotak catalogue (flights, hotels, vouchers, merchandise) or as a statement credit through the rewards portal or the contact centre, each with its own minimum, so a last-week redemption risks missing the date on processing alone.
