What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: British Airways Executive Club membership plus 8,000 Avios on first use, and a further 25,000 Avios for booking and flying a British Airways India–London return within the first three months
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹15,000 a month
At ₹15,000 a month — ₹1,80,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹7,200 gross (earn ₹7,200) against its ₹7,000 fee = ₹200 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #856
Why #856 The richest Avios earn an Indian card has ever published — four Avios per ₹100 on ordinary spend, rising to six, against the 1.5 the only live Avios card pays today. It is ranked at the foot of the board anyway, because you cannot get it: ICICI pulled the account from its airline menu and the page 301'd from late 2016. The rate is real, sourced and dead, and the board's value model has no way to say "true in 2016" — so the order key says it instead.
The take
This is the card that makes the current Avios market look thin. ICICI's British Airways Premium account paid four Avios for every ₹100 of ordinary spend on its American Express card and six on British Airways tickets — and then stepped both up by a quarter once annual spend passed ₹2.25 lakh, and by half past ₹5 lakh, topping out at six Avios on everyday spend and nine on BA tickets. At the house value of ₹1 an Avios that is a 4% card at the floor and a 6% card at the ceiling, into a currency with real short-haul and Qsuite sweet spots; the only Avios card an Indian can get today pays 1.5. The account was genuinely unusual in shape too — two cards on one account, the Amex to earn on and a Mastercard for everywhere Amex was refused, and ICICI was blunt that the second one earned a quarter as much. Around it: British Airways Executive Club membership handed over at signup, 8,000 Avios on first use, 25,000 more for booking and flying a BA return to London inside three months, i-Assist concierge, Culinary Treats dining, and Avios that could be spent across the whole oneworld alliance rather than only on BA metal. ICICI charged ₹7,000 a year, the same in year one as every year after, with no waiver at any spend. Then it stopped selling it. The product page 301'd from September 2016 and the airline menu it sat on kept only the Jet Airways range; there is no ICICI notice announcing the end, which is why the withdrawal is dated from ICICI's own server rather than from a press release.

ICICI Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What's good
- 4 Avios per ₹100 on everyday spend and 6 on British Airways tickets — the richest Avios accrual an Indian card has published
- Both rates stepped up 25% past ₹2.25 lakh of annual spend and 50% past ₹5 lakh, topping out at 6 and 9 Avios per ₹100
- British Airways Executive Club membership with the card, 8,000 Avios on first use, and 25,000 more for a BA India–London return flown inside three months
- Two cards on one account — an American Express to earn on and a Mastercard for merchants that refused it
- Avios earned and redeemed across the whole oneworld alliance, not only on British Airways
- i-Assist 24x7 concierge and ICICI's Culinary Treats dining programme at a minimum 15% off
Watch out
- WITHDRAWN — ICICI stopped selling the account; its product page began returning redirects in September 2016 and by then the bank's airline menu carried only the Jet Airways range
- The paired Mastercard earned 1 Avios per ₹100 against the Amex card's 4, so the blended rate depended entirely on how often Amex was accepted
- ₹7,000 a year from the first year, with no spend-based waiver published anywhere
- The turbo step-ups were gated on cumulative ANNUAL spend, so a light spender never left the standard rate
- 3.50% forex markup, and a railway-booking surcharge of 1.80% online or 2.50% elsewhere
- The fuel-surcharge waiver was HPCL-only and capped at ₹3,000 a transaction

You cannot. ICICI Bank withdrew the British Airways Premium Credit Card Account from sale; its product page returned 301 redirects from late September 2016, and ICICI's own airline card menu had already narrowed to the Jet Airways Coral, Rubyx and Sapphiro range. The bank published no closure notice for it, so no migration path is on record here.
ICICI Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

- 10 Sept 2026ICICI's September lounge list drops four doors and adds BhogapuramThe prior edition opened Bhubaneswar's landside Bird Lounge, Vadodara's Premium Lounge, Visakhapatnam's Airr Lounge and Bar, and Dehradun's landside Bird Lounge, and filed Ahmedabad T2 international as The Lounge opposite Gate 3 → Those four rooms are gone. Bhubaneswar keeps O'Vetra near Gate 8, Dehradun keeps Carnations in the security hold, Vadodara is off the list, and Visakhapatnam's rows are Encalm domestic and international at Bhogapuram. Ahmedabad T2 international is Adani Silver Lounge - International, Gate 08, and it is not asterisked
ICICI re-saved its consolidated domestic lounge list on 10 September 2026 and moved rooms, not quotas. Four doors an Annexure-1 card used to open are off the list: Bhubaneswar's landside Bird Lounge (O'Vetra, airside near Gate 8, stays), Vadodara entirely, Visakhapatnam's Airr Lounge and Bar, and Dehradun's landside Bird Lounge (Carnations, in the security hold, stays). Visakhapatnam's replacement is two Encalm rooms at Bhogapuram, which this map does not carry yet — the airport is not in our coordinate file, so those doors are recorded here and not drawn. Ahmedabad's T2 international row is no longer The Lounge opposite Gate 3. It is Adani Silver Lounge - International, first floor, Gate 08, and the row has no asterisk, so the whole Annexure-1 board gets it at each card's own quarterly quota rather than the three unlimited cards alone. Noida's three Jewar rows are still on the PDF and still unmapped.
- 29 Aug 2026ICICI un-reserves Mumbai's Adani Silver lounge — the whole Annexure-1 board gets in
- 3 Aug 2026SBI drops Etihad Guest from the MILES transfer table — the last SBI door into the programmeSBI Card Travel Credits transferred 1:1 into Etihad Guest, one of eighteen airline partners in §3 of the MILES rewards T&C. At the ₹1/partner-mile anchor that was a full-value exit, and it was the only route left after the two Etihad Guest SBI co-brands were retired. → No Etihad route at all. The MILES rewards T&C now lists seventeen airline partners and Etihad is not one of them — the word does not appear anywhere in the seven-page document. Every other SBI partner survives at the same ratio.
SBI Card's own MILES rewards T&C, re-fetched on 22 August 2026 and carrying a 3 August 2026 ModDate inside the PDF, has one fewer airline in it than the edition this desk read on 2 August. The deletion is provable from the numbering rather than from absence alone: the table's first seven rows are unchanged (Air Canada 3, Air France-KLM 4, Air India 5, British Airways 6, Cathay 7), and every row from position eight onward has moved up exactly one — Thai from 14 to 13, Qantas from 17 to 16. Position eight was Etihad Airways / Etihad Guest / 1:1. All twenty-four other partners we carry, airline and hotel, are still there at the same ratios, so this is Etihad being dropped and not SBI narrowing transfers. The timing matters more than the ratio. SBI phased out the Etihad Guest SBI and Etihad Guest SBI Premier cards from December 2025 and reissued holders onto MILES products, and the transfer route was what made that migration survivable — a Premier holder who had spent six years earning Etihad miles could keep feeding the same account through Travel Credits. That is now closed, and India's remaining pipes into Etihad Guest run through BOBCARD's Etihad co-brands, not through SBI. If you hold SBI Travel Credits earmarked for an Abu Dhabi business seat, they are Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avios or Maharaja points now. ON THE DATE: SBI publishes no notice and no cut-off. The date here is the day the desk read the change out of SBI's own document; the PDF's internal ModDate puts the edition at 3 August 2026, which is the earliest day we can prove, not an announcement.
