What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: An Amazon.in e-gift card worth ₹500 on payment of the ₹499 annual fee — the fee back, in Amazon credit
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹9,000 a month
At ₹9,000 a month — ₹1,08,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹300 gross (earn ₹300) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹499 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹1,00,000 a year = ₹300 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
2 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants
SBI Reward Points are 4 to the rupee against the rewards catalogue — ₹0.25 a point, and that is both the floor and the ceiling. They reach no airline, no hotel and no transfer partner of any kind, so the travel value on this card lives entirely in the Cleartrip and Yatra earn and the Cleartrip and Yatra vouchers, not in the currency. Points expire 24 months from accrual, and after a voluntary card closure you get 30 days to redeem before the balance lapses — close the card any other way and it is forfeited outright.
The take
SBI sells this as an online shopping card and India buys it in enormous numbers, which is precisely why the travel bit is worth saying out loud: two of the eleven 10X partners are Cleartrip and Yatra, and both spend milestones pay out in Cleartrip or Yatra e-vouchers — ₹2,000 at ₹1 lakh of online spend and ₹2,000 more at ₹2 lakh. That is ₹4,000 of flight and hotel credit on a ₹499 card whose fee waives at ₹1 lakh of spend anyway, and a ₹500 Amazon gift card for paying it in the first place. Book your flights through Cleartrip and the maths is genuinely fine. Now the sentence the marketing will never write: away from those eleven merchants this is a 0.25% card. One Reward Point per ₹100, four points to the rupee, in a currency that reaches no airline and no hotel and never will. The 5X on other online spend is a real 1.25% but it stops dead at 10,000 points a month, and offline you are back to a quarter of a percent. Fuel, rent, government payments and gaming earn nothing at all. There is no lounge access — not one visit, anywhere — and forex is the full 3.5%. Hold it if your online spend lands on the partner list and you book travel through Cleartrip or Yatra. Hold anything else for the rest of your life.
Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel
This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.
Keep, downgrade or cancel
₹499/yr at stake · 5 spend bands
The charge ₹499/yr
The waiver ₹1,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹8,333 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹9,000 a month — ₹1,08,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.
At your spend
₹700 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹1,400 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹2,800 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹8,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹14,100 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade
SBI Card publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What's good
- 10X Reward Points on Cleartrip and Yatra — 2.5% at our ₹0.25 mark, on two of India's biggest OTAs
- ₹2,000 in Cleartrip or Yatra e-vouchers at ₹1 lakh of annual online spend, and ₹2,000 more at ₹2 lakh
- ₹500 Amazon.in e-gift card for paying the ₹499 fee, which then waives at ₹1 lakh of annual spend
- 5X on all other online spend — 1.25%, up to 10,000 Reward Points a month
- 10X also covers Apollo 24x7, BookMyShow, Dominos, IGP, Myntra, Netmeds, Swiggy, Gyftr and Tata Cliq
Watch out
- 0.25% on everything offline — one Reward Point per ₹100 at four points to the rupee
- No lounge access of any kind, domestic or international, and 3.5% forex
- SBI Reward Points reach no airline and no hotel programme — ₹0.25 in the catalogue is the floor and the ceiling
- Cleartrip and Yatra bookings made through AFFILIATE channels do not earn the 10X
- The 5X on general online spend stops at 10,000 Reward Points a calendar month, then drops to 1X
- Both milestone vouchers need ONLINE spend specifically — ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh of it, not total spend
- Utility bills paid through SBI Card's own website or app are excluded from the 5X
- Fuel, rent (from 1 Apr 2024), government payments (from 1 Jun 2024) and digital gaming (from 1 Dec 2024) earn nothing
- Points expire 24 months from accrual; close the card involuntarily and the balance is forfeited outright
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes SBI Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't
7 sourced rules · 5 pay zero
Base 1 Reward Point per ₹100 at 4 points to the rupee = 0.25%. 5X on online spend (1.25%) capped at 10,000 Reward Points a calendar month, 10X on eleven exclusive online partners (2.5%) with no published cap. The rows below are SBI's own card-specific Reward Point terms, which name every exclusion by MCC and date.
- Fuel · excluded Zero points — offline fuel at petrol pumps and service stations, MCC 5172, 5541, 5542, 5983; the 1% fuel-surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹3,000 transactions (max ₹100 per statement cycle) is all you get
- Rent & property management · excluded Zero points — MCC 6513, discontinued on this card w.e.f. 1 Apr 2024
- Wallet loads · excluded Zero points — e-wallet loading under MCC 6540 and 6541, including loads made on a partner brand's own site
- Government / tax · excluded Zero points — MCC 9399 and 9311, discontinued on this card w.e.f. 1 Jun 2024
Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹1,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹499 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. SBI Card states what the SimplyCLICK SBI Card earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver and the milestones — the ₹1,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

Openly available and deliberately mass-market — SBI's live catalogue carries the SimplyCLICK (productType SICL) with isOnline "yes" and a working Apply Now flow. If the unsecured card is out of reach, SBI's own product page advertises a secured "SimplyCLICK Advantage SBI Card" variant issued against a fixed deposit, at the same ₹499 fee, on the same MITC row.

The fine print
7 of 7 MITC rows published
What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
Fee ₹499 + taxes as both the annual charge and the renewal charge, reversed on ₹1 lakh or more of annual spend in the preceding year; SBI's MITC carries an identically-priced "SimplyCLICK Advantage SBI Card" row immediately below it, the secured variant issued against a fixed deposit. Earn 1 Reward Point per ₹100 on everything, 5X on online spend and 10X on eleven exclusive online partners — Apollo 24x7, BookMyShow, Cleartrip, Dominos, IGP, Myntra, Netmeds, Swiggy, Yatra, Gyftr and Tata Cliq. 4 Reward Points = ₹1 in SBI's catalogue, so 10X is 2.5% and the base is 0.25%. The 5X is capped at 10,000 Reward Points a calendar month, after which online spend drops back to 1 point per ₹100; no cap is published for the 10X. Cleartrip and Yatra transactions booked through AFFILIATE channels do not earn the 10X, the Gyftr 10X works only through gyftr.com/sbicsimplyclick, and utility bills paid on SBI Card's own website or app are excluded from the 5X. Milestones are e-vouchers worth ₹2,000 each at ₹1 lakh and ₹2 lakh of annual ONLINE spend, redeemable at Cleartrip or Yatra — the card's only real travel benefit alongside the 10X. Welcome is an Amazon.in e-gift card worth ₹500 on annual-fee payment. Zero points on offline fuel (MCC 5172, 5541, 5542, 5983), rent (MCC 6513, from 1 Apr 2024), government payments (MCC 9399 and 9311, from 1 Jun 2024), digital gaming (MCC 5816, 7993, 7994, from 1 Dec 2024), e-wallet loads (6540, 6541), cash advances, Encash, ATM withdrawals, balance transfers, Flexipay and merchant EMI. Points accumulate for 24 months and then lapse; a voluntary card closure leaves 30 days to redeem, any other cancellation forfeits the balance. There is NO lounge access on this card, domestic or international. Fuel-surcharge waiver 1% on ₹500–₹3,000 transactions, max ₹100 per statement cycle.

- 3 Aug 2026SBI drops Etihad Guest from the MILES transfer table — the last SBI door into the programmeSBI Card Travel Credits transferred 1:1 into Etihad Guest, one of eighteen airline partners in §3 of the MILES rewards T&C. At the ₹1/partner-mile anchor that was a full-value exit, and it was the only route left after the two Etihad Guest SBI co-brands were retired. → No Etihad route at all. The MILES rewards T&C now lists seventeen airline partners and Etihad is not one of them — the word does not appear anywhere in the seven-page document. Every other SBI partner survives at the same ratio.
SBI Card's own MILES rewards T&C, re-fetched on 22 August 2026 and carrying a 3 August 2026 ModDate inside the PDF, has one fewer airline in it than the edition this desk read on 2 August. The deletion is provable from the numbering rather than from absence alone: the table's first seven rows are unchanged (Air Canada 3, Air France-KLM 4, Air India 5, British Airways 6, Cathay 7), and every row from position eight onward has moved up exactly one — Thai from 14 to 13, Qantas from 17 to 16. Position eight was Etihad Airways / Etihad Guest / 1:1. All twenty-four other partners we carry, airline and hotel, are still there at the same ratios, so this is Etihad being dropped and not SBI narrowing transfers. The timing matters more than the ratio. SBI phased out the Etihad Guest SBI and Etihad Guest SBI Premier cards from December 2025 and reissued holders onto MILES products, and the transfer route was what made that migration survivable — a Premier holder who had spent six years earning Etihad miles could keep feeding the same account through Travel Credits. That is now closed, and India's remaining pipes into Etihad Guest run through BOBCARD's Etihad co-brands, not through SBI. If you hold SBI Travel Credits earmarked for an Abu Dhabi business seat, they are Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avios or Maharaja points now. ON THE DATE: SBI publishes no notice and no cut-off. The date here is the day the desk read the change out of SBI's own document; the PDF's internal ModDate puts the edition at 3 August 2026, which is the earliest day we can prove, not an announcement.
