The take

ICICI stopped taking applications for this one, which turns it from a shopping question into a keep-or-close question — and the answer is keep. After the one-time ₹2,500 joining fee the annual fee is nil, forever, and nil is a hard number to argue with. For that you hold eight domestic lounge visits a year (two a quarter, gated at ₹75,000 of prior-quarter spend), one international Priority Pass visit a year, a railway lounge visit every quarter, and MMTBLACK Platinum status. The earn is where it shows its age: everything is priced per ₹200, not per ₹100 — 4 myCash on MMT hotels (2%), 2 on MMT flights (1%), 1.25 on everything else (0.625%). The newer ₹999 MakeMyTrip ICICI card earns per ₹100 and charges 0.99% forex; this one earns half as much and charges 3.5%. So: never take it abroad, never make it your primary swipe, and never close it. A free card with eight lounge visits is a free card with eight lounge visits.

What's good

  • Annual fee NIL — lifetime-free after the one-time ₹2,500 joining charge
  • 8 domestic lounge visits a year + 1 international Priority Pass visit
  • 1 railway lounge visit every quarter
  • MMTBLACK Platinum tier + up to ₹2,500 MakeMyTrip holiday voucher on joining

Watch out

  • Closed to new applications — ICICI's own page says so
  • Everything earns per ₹200, not ₹100: base spends are 0.625%, MMT flights just 1%
  • 3.5% forex — the newer ₹999 MMT ICICI card charges 0.99%
  • myCash is a closed MakeMyTrip wallet: no transfers, no cash-out, per-booking caps
  • Domestic lounges need ₹75k of prior-quarter spend to unlock

Closed to new applications — existing cardholders keep the card; there is no way in.

You can't. ICICI's product page carries the line "We are no longer accepting applications for MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Signature Credit Card". The live replacement is the ₹999 MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank card, which ships as a Mastercard + RuPay pair, earns per ₹100 instead of per ₹200 and charges 0.99% forex — strictly better on earn, strictly worse on fee. Existing Signature holders should think hard before swapping: nil annual fee is the one thing the new card can't match.

ICICI Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

CLOSED TO NEW APPLICATIONS — ICICI's product page states "We are no longer accepting applications for MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Signature Credit Card" (verified 2026-07-25). Joining ₹2,500; ANNUAL FEE NIL, so it is lifetime-free once held. Earn is per ₹200, not per ₹100: 4 myCash on MMT hotels, 2 on MMT flights, 1.25 on other domestic spends. 8 domestic lounge visits/year (2 per quarter, gated at ₹75,000 prior-quarter spend) + 1 international visit/year via Priority Pass (applications after 15-Nov-2024) or DreamFolks (earlier holders) + 1 railway lounge visit per quarter. Welcome: MMTBLACK Platinum tier + MakeMyTrip holiday voucher up to ₹2,500. 1% fuel-surcharge waiver on ₹400–₹4,000 at HPCL. Distinct from icici-makemytrip (the live ₹999 dual Mastercard+RuPay card, which earns per ₹100 at 0.99% forex). ICICI publishes no income/age criteria in the MITC — not published.

    Devaluation minor ICICI Bank
ICICI gates its BookMyShow movie perk behind quarterly spend
Complimentary BookMyShow ticket offer, no spend condition Needs ₹25,000 spend in the preceding quarter

ICICI didn't kill the BookMyShow benefit outright — Instant Platinum loses it entirely from 1 February 2026, while other cards keep it only if you've spent ₹25,000 in the prior quarter. It's a small perk on paper, but it's part of the same February devaluation wave that also killed several reward categories, and it signals ICICI is done handing out 'free' lifestyle perks with no spend attached.

  • 15 Jan 2026
    Devaluation major ICICI Bank
ICICI caps transport rewards and excludes rent, tax, fuel spends
Emeralde/Sapphiro earned on unlimited transport; 1.99% DCC Transport rewards capped at ₹20,000/month; DCC to 2%

From 15 January 2026, Emeralde, Emeralde Private, Sapphiro and Rubyx only earn points on the first ₹20,000 of monthly transport spend, and government services, fuel, rent, tax and third-party wallet loads earn nothing at all — categories that used to be reliable point-farming ground. Layer on a DCC fee hike to 2% and a new ₹3,500 add-on card fee, and this is one of the broadest single-day devaluations any Indian issuer has run across its premium metal tier.

ICICI's November purge: rewards, lounges and 1% fees
Broad earn; easy spend-based lounge access Rent/gov/education excluded; grocery capped; 1% ed/utility fee; spend-gated lounges

The single worst day of 2024 for ICICI holders, Emeralde Private included. Rent, government and education spends stop earning and stop counting toward fee waivers, grocery rewards get capped, a 1% fee lands on third-party education/utility, and lounge access is restructured behind prior-spend gates.

ICICI stops rewards on rent and wallet loads
Rent and e-wallet loads earned points Zero reward points

ICICI's opening move of 2024: from 5 February, rent payments and e-wallet loading earn nothing. A quiet start to what became a brutal year for ICICI reward chasers.

ICICI Bank launches invite-only Emeralde Private Metal card
No true super-premium ICICI travel card Emeralde Private Metal: 3% back, unlimited lounge/golf

ICICI finally built a card that could sit at the same table as Infinia and Magnus — invite-only, metal, 3% uncapped value-back, unlimited lounge and golf access, plus a Taj Epicure membership thrown in. It marked ICICI's real entry into India's super-premium travel-card fight.

ICICI Bank launches Emeralde, wedging above Sapphiro
Sapphiro topped ICICI's travel-and-rewards credit card lineup Emeralde debuts with ~₹3 lakh in annual benefits at a ₹12,000 fee

ICICI Bank soft-launched the Emeralde credit card on January 18, 2019, slotting it above Sapphiro with a headline claim of roughly ₹3 lakh in annual benefit value against a ₹12,000 annual fee. It gave ICICI a genuine super-premium travel card to compete with HDFC Infinia and Diners Black for the first time, years before the invite-only Emeralde Private Metal would push the lineup even further upmarket.
