Welcome: 500 Delight Points on card activation plus 500 more on a first transaction of ₹1,000 or more within 30 days — 1,000 points, worth ₹250

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹8,000 a month

At ₹8,000 a month — ₹96,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹500 gross (earn ₹500) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹899 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹90,000 a year = ₹500 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

RuPay — The lounge programme is RuPay's, and IDBI names it on the product page

Why #78 Eight domestic and four international lounge visits for ₹899 is the cheapest international access on the board — the 0.5% earn and a 40.8% APR are what keep it out of the top half.

The take

Read the lounge row twice, because it is the entire case for this card: two complimentary visits every calendar quarter at participating lounges in India, and two more every calendar HALF-YEAR at participating lounges outside India, both on RuPay's programme. That is eight domestic and four international visits a year, for ₹899 — nothing in the first year at all, since IDBI charges no joining fee — and the fee disappears entirely above ₹90,000 of annual spend, which is ₹7,500 a month. International lounge access at that price does not exist anywhere else on this board. Everything after that is ordinary and some of it is bad. The earn is 2 Delight Points per ₹100 at IDBI's own ₹0.25 a point: 0.5%, with fuel, insurance, tax, government and even railway MCCs excluded from accrual entirely. Delight Points buy catalogue goods, vouchers, recharges and portal flight and hotel bookings — no airline programme, no hotel programme, no transfer of any kind. Forex is the full 3.5%, so this is not the card you carry into the lounge you just entered abroad. And the interest rate is the worst on IDBI's shelf by a distance: 3.40% a month, 40.80% a year, against 2.50% on the Royale. Pay it in full, use the lounges, ignore the points.

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.

₹90,000 annual spend erases that fee
₹8,000/mo is where the waiver, not the earn, saves it

₹899/yr at stake · 5 spend bands

The charge ₹899/yr

The waiver ₹90,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹7,500 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.

Break-even ₹8,000 a month — ₹96,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.

At your spend

₹2,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹3,400 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹6,300 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹17,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹28,800 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade

IDBI Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 2 lounge visits per quarter in India AND 2 per half-year outside India, on RuPay's programme
  • No joining fee — the ₹899 starts in year two, and vanishes above ₹90,000 of annual spend
  • 1,000 welcome Delight Points: 500 on activation, 500 on a first ₹1,000 transaction inside 30 days
  • Milestones of 1,000 points at ₹1,00,000 and 1,500 more at ₹2,00,000 of annual spend
  • ₹10,00,000 personal accident cover, a concierge line, and no reward-redemption fee

Watch out

  • 3.40% a month — 40.80% a year — is the highest APR on IDBI's shelf; the Royale charges 2.50%
  • 0.5% earn: 2 Delight Points per ₹100 at ₹0.25 apiece, and the points reach no airline or hotel
  • 3.5% forex markup, so the international lounge visits are the only reason to take it abroad
  • Fuel, insurance, tax, government AND railway MCCs earn nothing at all
  • Delight Points expire 36 months after accrual, and the first redemption needs 1,000 of them
  • Cash withdrawals are capped at 15% of your credit limit, with a ₹15,000 daily ceiling

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes IDBI Delight Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't

12 sourced rules · 3 pay zero
Fuel excluded — Zero Delight Points — MCC 5541, 5542, 5172 and 5983 are all on the MITC's exclusion annexure. What you get instead is a 1% fuel surcharge refund on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹400 a month
Rent & property management full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) — the MITC's clause 11 is a CLOSED list: "Delight Points will be given for all spends done using IDBI Credit Cards with the exception of the following", and rent (6513, 7349) is not among the sixteen codes on it
Government / tax excluded — Zero Delight Points — the annexure names 9211 (court costs), 9222 (fines), 9311 (tax payments), 9399 (government services NEC) and 9405 (intra-government purchases). It does not name 9402 or 9223
Utilities (electricity/water/gas) full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) — utilities (4900, 4899, 4816) appear nowhere on the MITC's sixteen-code exclusion annexure
Insurance excluded — Zero Delight Points — the annexure names 6300 (insurance sales, underwriting and premiums), 6381 (insurance premiums) and 5960 (direct-marketing insurance). It does not name 6380, so a merchant coded there is not covered by the exclusion as IDBI has written it
Education full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) — education (8211–8299) appears nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure, which is unusually generous for the segment
Wallet loads full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) — wallet loads (6539–6541) appear nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure. The annexure does exclude 6010 and 6011, which are manual and automated cash disbursement, not wallet top-ups
Groceries & supermarkets full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) — groceries and supermarkets appear nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure
Dining & food delivery not applicable
Telecom full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) — MCC 4814 appears nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure
Jewellery / gold full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) — 5944 and 5094 appear nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure
Forex / international spends full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.5%) on international spend too — the exclusion annexure is MCC-based and carries no currency test — but against a 3.5% cross-currency markup, which swamps the earn
UPI (RuPay-on-UPI only) not applicable
EMI conversions / merchant EMI full — 2 Delight Points per ₹100 — IDBI's exclusion annexure is MCC-based and names no EMI flag, and the MITC's own EMI clause is silent on point accrual
  • Fuel · excluded Zero Delight Points — MCC 5541, 5542, 5172 and 5983 are all on the MITC's exclusion annexure. What you get instead is a 1% fuel surcharge refund on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹400 a month
  • Insurance · excluded Zero Delight Points — the annexure names 6300 (insurance sales, underwriting and premiums), 6381 (insurance premiums) and 5960 (direct-marketing insurance). It does not name 6380, so a merchant coded there is not covered by the exclusion as IDBI has written it
  • Government / tax · excluded Zero Delight Points — the annexure names 9211 (court costs), 9222 (fines), 9311 (tax payments), 9399 (government services NEC) and 9405 (intra-government purchases). It does not name 9402 or 9223

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?

not published — and we say which

₹90,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹899 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.

Not published. IDBI Bank states what the IDBI Bank Winnings earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver and the milestones — the ₹90,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

The fine print

7 of 7 MITC rows published

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.

Forex markup 3.5% + GST — the KFS calls it a "Cross Currency Mark up"
APR 3.40%/mo (40.80%/yr) on both revolving credit and cash advances
Late fee Nil up to ₹500; ₹400 (₹501–5,000); ₹500 (₹5,001–10,000); ₹750 (₹10,001–20,000); ₹950 (above ₹20,000)
Cash advance 2.5% of the withdrawal, min ₹500
Add-on card Nil — every IDBI variant prints NIL in both add-on columns
Overlimit 2.5% of the overlimit amount, min ₹500
Redemption fee Nil

One Key Fact Statement covers IDBI's whole seven-variant shelf. Winnings is Nil to join — primary and add-on — and ₹899 only "from 2nd year onwards", waived on ₹90,000 of spend in the preceding year. Cash withdrawal is capped at 15% of the credit limit, ₹15,000 daily cap. Cheque or auto-debit return ₹500; card replacement ₹200; duplicate statement ₹100 for anything over three months old; balance transfer 1.5% or ₹199, whichever is higher. Minimum amount due is 5% of the total, min ₹200. Interest-free period 18–48 days. Its 3.40%/mo is the joint-highest rate on IDBI's seven-variant shelf, against 2.50% on Royale — on a card whose entire case is eight domestic and four international lounge visits. Fuel surcharge waiver 1% on ₹400–₹5,000 transactions, capped at ₹400 a month (Royale, Euphoria and LIC Eclat get ₹500). IDBI publishes NO income or age criterion for any card variant — not on the product page, not in the KFS, not in the MITC — so the eligibility rows here are honestly empty rather than borrowed from a sibling bank's shelf.
