Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹19,000 a month
At ₹19,000 a month — ₹2,28,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹1,500 gross (earn ₹1,500) against its ₹1,500 fee = ₹0 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
2 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · why it ranks #898
Why #898 The paid tier of Citi's Shoppers Stop co-brand, and the only card in the pre-migration catalogue that bundled Taj hotel and restaurant vouchers as a headline benefit. Carried because those vouchers are the closest thing to a travel benefit anywhere in the Citi retail range.
The take
Citi and Shoppers Stop ran two cards, not one, and this was the paid one. It cost ₹1,500 a year and it justified that with a benefit sheet the free sibling never carried. Two of those benefits are the reason this card is on a travel site at all: a voucher for half off the lunch buffet for a table of six across selected Taj properties, and a voucher for half off a weekend stay across a couple of dozen Taj hotels. Citi put reference values of ₹3,000 and ₹10,000 on those two lines, which is Citi's arithmetic and not ours, but even discounted heavily they are the only hotel benefit anywhere in the pre-migration Citi retail range. Around them sat the retail machinery: eight Reward Points per ₹100 inside Shoppers Stop against two per ₹150 outside, a point Citi priced at seventy paise and which the surviving First Citizen programme now marks at fifty — so the store rung Citi advertised as "5% or more" is 4% today, and everything else is 0.67%. Around that, sign-up vouchers, a flat fifteen per cent off on one self-chosen day, a quarterly voucher for crossing a spend threshold at Shoppers Stop, and coffee vouchers for smaller thresholds. Citi's own headline claimed over ₹25,000 of annual value, on assumptions it prints in full and which require large monthly spends both inside the store and outside it. The card is long withdrawn; the free sibling survived to the Axis handover and is on this board.

The downgrade
Citibank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
If you call to cancel
What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- A voucher for half off the lunch buffet for a table of six across selected Taj properties, which Citi valued at ₹3,000
- A voucher for half off a weekend stay across a couple of dozen selected Taj hotels, which Citi valued at ₹10,000
- Eight Reward Points per ₹100 inside Shoppers Stop against two per ₹150 outside — 4% and 0.67% at what the programme's points are worth today
- Sign-up vouchers worth ₹750 in all at Shoppers Stop, plus a flat 15% off on any one day of your choosing
- A ₹1,000 spend voucher for crossing ₹25,000 of Shoppers Stop spend in a quarter, and coffee vouchers at ₹5,000 intervals
Watch out
- WITHDRAWN — gone from Citi India's range before the Axis Bank handover, and not one of the nine products on Axis's Forward Together site
- NOT THE SAME CARD as the First Citizen Citi Credit Card this board also carries: that one is the free base SKU with a different accrual table and a different point value
- CITI'S OWN ₹25,000-A-YEAR HEADLINE IS AN ILLUSTRATION, and the footnotes require heavy monthly spend both at Shoppers Stop and outside it, plus using every voucher
- The Taj vouchers were ORDERED, not automatic, and both were capped discounts on published rack rates rather than free stays
- No lounge access, no airline co-brand, no travel accelerator and no forex concession — the Taj vouchers are the whole travel story
- THE POINT HAS BEEN DEVALUED TWICE SINCE: Citi's page priced it at 70 paise and claimed '5% or more' at Shoppers Stop, but the surviving First Citizen programme marks at ₹0.50, which makes that rung 4%
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Shoppers Stop First Citizen Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

You cannot. The card was withdrawn from Citi India's range before the bank sold its Indian consumer business to Axis Bank, and citibank.co.in no longer resolves. The free First Citizen Citi Credit Card is the SKU that survived to the handover; it is on this board and Axis moved its holders to the Axis Bank SHOPPERS STOP Credit Card.
