IDFC FIRST WOW! Black
Keep₹750 buys the zero-forex card a lounge door — and the door needs ₹20,000 a month.

What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: Joining benefits worth ₹5,000+ on payment of the ₹750 fee — ₹1,500 of MakeMyTrip discounts, a ₹500 first-app-booking voucher, 3 months of EazyDiner Prime (₹1,095), a year of Lenskart Gold Max (₹800), 10% off Mokobara, and 5% cashback up to ₹1,000 on a first EMI
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹11,000 a month
At ₹11,000 a month — ₹1,32,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹800 gross (earn ₹800) against its ₹750 fee = ₹0 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
2 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants
WOW! Black is one of only two IDFC cards that reach ₹0.50 a point — and only on flight and hotel bookings made inside the FIRST Rewards Gallery in the app. Everything else redeems at the house ₹0.25, which is what the everyday rate below is priced at; the app-travel categories carry the full ₹0.50. Unlike the base WOW!, these points never expire — the product guide sells them as "never-expiring reward points" — though every redemption still costs ₹99.
The take
The base WOW! is the standing answer to "which card do I take abroad": FD-backed, lifetime free, 0% forex. Its one hole is that it opens no lounge door at all. WOW! Black is IDFC charging ₹750 to fill exactly that hole, and it does — one complimentary domestic lounge visit a quarter — but read the Privileges document before you buy it, because the visit is conditional on ₹20,000 of spend in the previous calendar month and comparison sites print the quota without the condition. Everything else is a straight upgrade over the base card: the earn denominator drops from ₹200 to ₹150 so the everyday rate rises from 0.5% to 0.67%, the app-travel bonus is bigger (19.33 points per ₹100 on hotels, 9.7% back at ₹0.50 a point), the FIRST Digital RuPay dual card is included instead of costing ₹199, and the points never expire where the base card's die at 24 months. Still FD-backed from ₹20,000, still no income proof, still no credit history required, still zero forex. At ₹750 waived on ₹1,50,000 of annual spend, the question is only whether four gated lounge visits and a slightly better earn are worth ₹750 over a card that costs nothing — and if you fly at all, they are.

Keep, downgrade or cancel
₹750/yr at stake · 5 spend bands
The charge ₹750/yr
The waiver ₹1,50,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹12,500 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹11,000 a month — ₹1,32,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee.
At your spend
₹1,700 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹3,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹6,900 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹20,800 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹34,600 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

The downgrade
IDFC FIRST Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
What has changed under this card
- 9 Sep 2026 IDFC FIRST Bank zeroes forex markup on every credit card issuer-wide
- 18 Jun 2026 IDFC FIRST bolts a 24-month expiry onto reward points that were lifetime-valid issuer-wide
- 6 Jan 2026 IDFC FIRST launches zero-forex Diamond Reserve card issuer-wide

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- 0% forex markup — IDFC's MITC names WOW! Black at NIL beside FIRST Private, Mayura and Gaj
- 1 domestic lounge visit a quarter, which the base WOW! does not have at all
- 19.33 reward points per ₹100 on app hotel bookings ≈ 9.7% back at ₹0.50 a point
- FD-backed from ₹20,000: no income proof, no credit history, and the deposit keeps earning
- Reward points never expire, where the base WOW!'s die 24 months after they land
Watch out
- The lounge visit needs ₹20,000 of spend in the PREVIOUS calendar month — the quota is 4 a year only if you clear that bar every month
- Lounge access is domestic only, and it is shared with every add-on cardholder rather than granted to each
- 0.67% everyday earn — 4 reward points per ₹150 at ₹0.25; the zero forex is the reason to hold this, not the rate
- ₹750 joining fee is never waived; only the annual fee, from year two, at ₹1,50,000 of spend
- Every redemption costs ₹99, and app-travel points can only pay 70% of a booking
- Closed loop — zero airline or hotel transfer partners, like every IDFC card
- Your credit limit is your fixed deposit, and reward points stop at that limit each billing cycle
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes IDFC FIRST Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't
12 sourced rules · 2 pay zero
A two-rate card on a ₹150 denominator: 4 RP/₹150 on everything that counts, 1 RP/₹150 on four named categories, and a hard three-item exclusion — "EMI, cash withdrawals, and fuel spends are not eligible for reward points". Nothing published carves out rent, government, education or wallet loads, so those earn at base, as on the sibling WOW!. Reduced rows are written as "X RP/₹150 vs 4 RP/₹150" because earn.base carries the redemption haircut.
- Fuel · excluded Zero RP; a 1% surcharge waiver capped at ₹200 a month is the whole benefit, and a 1% fee lands once fuel spend passes ₹30,000 a cycle
- Utilities (electricity/water/gas) · reduced 1 RP/₹150 vs the 4 RP/₹150 base; a 1% fee also applies past ₹20,000 of utility spend a cycle
- Insurance · reduced 1 RP/₹150 vs the 4 RP/₹150 base
- Telecom · reduced Utility-MCC treatment (4814, 4816, 4899, 4900) → 1 RP/₹150 vs the 4 RP/₹150 base

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹1,50,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹750 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. IDFC FIRST Bank states what the IDFC FIRST WOW! Black earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹1,50,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

The same open door as the base WOW!, one tier up: link an IDFC FIRST Bank fixed deposit of at least ₹20,000 through the mobile app, or open a new one, and the card is issued against it. No income documents, no CIBIL history — IDFC files it under "Assured". Pay the ₹750 joining fee and the welcome pack unlocks; skip the FD and there is no other route in. The base WOW! remains lifetime free for anyone who wants zero forex and does not care about the lounge.

The fine print
7 of 7 MITC rows published
What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
Joining ₹750 and annual ₹750, the renewal waived at ₹1,50,000 of annual spend — the card's own product guide states it and the MITC fee table, which carries no waiver column at all, does not. Two lines make this card: a NIL foreign-currency markup and a NIL over-limit charge. Lounge access is 1 domestic visit a quarter, gated on ₹20,000 of spend in the previous calendar month and shared across primary and add-on cards. Fuel-surcharge waiver 1% on ₹200–₹5,000 transactions, capped at ₹200 a statement cycle. Category fees still apply: 1% on rent (min ₹249), 1% on utility past ₹20,000 a cycle, 1% on fuel past ₹30,000, 1% on railway past ₹25,000, 1% on tolls past ₹10,000, 1% (min ₹249) on third-party education apps. Card replacement ₹199. The MITC's 24-month reward-expiry clause names FIRST WOW! and NOT WOW! Black, so no expiry is published for this card.

- 9 Sept 2026IDFC FIRST Bank zeroes forex markup on every credit cardA per-card markup table — Nil on a few premium cards, 1% to 3.5% on the rest → NIL on foreign-currency transactions and on dynamic and static currency conversion, bank-wide
IDFC's retail credit-card MITC, re-saved 9 September 2026, replaces the old per-card forex table with one NIL row covering foreign-currency transactions and dynamic and static currency conversion. The commercial and corporate MITCs, re-saved 7 September, print Nil or 0% for the business and corporate cards. Ashva's brochure, re-issued 10 September, says the same and also cuts that card's international earn from 5 reward points per ₹150 to 2X. A widely reported 26 October cut to international reward earning is not in any of those documents, so it is not on the cards. Cards that were already Nil — Mayura, Gaj, WOW, WOW Black, FIRST Private, Diamond Reserve — did not move.
