Welcome: 3,000 bonus JPMiles on booking the card and 4,000 more on every renewal, plus a Première upgrade voucher — internationally valid — on enrolment and again each year

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹27,000 a month

At ₹27,000 a month — ₹3,24,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹2,600 gross (earn ₹2,600) against its ₹2,500 fee = ₹100 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #866

Citibank · Visa · premium

Visa — Citi's own lounge-access table heads its first row "Jet Airways Citibank Platinum Visa Cardmembers" and gives it the Jet Airways Lounge on domestic Jet flights. Mastercard — The same table's second row reads "Jet Airways Citibank Platinum MasterCard members" with the identical entitlement — the two schemes were one product, priced and benefited alike.

Why #866 The top of Citi's Jet ladder and the only rung that bought lounges, upgrades on both domestic and international sectors, and a 50% family discount rather than 30%. Carried for the record: Citi withdrew the whole Jet programme on 16 July 2012, seven years before the airline itself stopped flying.

The take

The Platinum was Citi's flagship Jet card and the only rung of the four where the benefits read like a modern premium travel product. It opened Jet Airways' own Première lounges across the domestic network, plus the Citigold lounges inside select Citibank branches, and let you check in at the Première counters rather than queue. It carried a cabin-upgrade voucher on enrolment and on every renewal, valid on international sectors as well as domestic — the Gold rung's vouchers were domestic-first and came only from spend thresholds — plus another internationally valid voucher each time card spend crossed a further JPMiles threshold. The family discount vouchers were 50%, not the 30% further down the ladder, and there were two of them every year. Add 15 kg of extra baggage, air accident cover of up to ₹30 lakh a year for the primary cardholder, a 24x7 concierge, and a full waiver of the 2.5% fuel surcharge at IndianOil. It was priced for it: ₹2,000 in year one and ₹2,500 a year afterwards, unless you held Jet Privilege Platinum status, in which case Citi gave you the card for nothing for as long as you kept the tier. The whole programme ended on 16 July 2012, when Citi and JetPrivilege separated and holders were offered a PremierMiles card at a discounted fee. The 4 JPMiles per ₹100 it paid is now priced here at the InterMiles house value of ₹0.20 a mile — 0.80%. Read that as an artefact, not an offer: JPMiles became InterMiles, InterMiles withdrew full redemption in October 2023, and a balance from this card would today buy a slice of a voucher and nothing else.

The downgrade

Citibank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • Complimentary access to Jet Airways' own Première lounges across its domestic network, plus Citigold lounges in select Citibank branches
  • A Première cabin-upgrade voucher on enrolment and on every renewal, valid on international sectors as well as domestic
  • Two 50% family discount vouchers a year — the rungs below carried 30%
  • An additional 15 kg baggage allowance and check-in at the Première counters
  • Air accident cover of up to ₹30 lakh a year for the primary cardholder, and a 24x7 concierge
  • Free for life to Jet Privilege Platinum members, for as long as they held the tier

Watch out

  • WITHDRAWN — Citi ended the Jet Airways co-brand on 16 July 2012 and moved holders to PremierMiles
  • ₹2,000 in the first year and ₹2,500 every year after — the renewal is the higher of the two, which is the wrong way round from most ladders
  • That discount did not survive: Citi's last page for the card, from November 2012, prices it at a flat ₹2,500 with no cheaper first year
  • The 8,000-JPMile upgrade voucher became a SPEND voucher — ₹2 lakh of cumulative spend, raised to ₹3.5 lakh from the September 2011 statement
  • The lounge access was Jet's own Première rooms on its domestic network, not a third-party lounge programme, so it died with the airline's schedule
  • The 0.80% is what it PAID in 2012: JPMiles became InterMiles, which withdrew full redemption on 27 October 2023

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes InterMiles into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

You cannot. The programme was withdrawn on 16 July 2012 and citibank.co.in no longer serves a page for it; Citibank's Indian consumer card book was subsequently sold to Axis Bank.

Citibank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.
