What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: None published — ICICI advertises no joining or first-spend bonus on this card, but the Mumbai Metro Smart Card chip arrives preloaded with ₹100, billed to the card in the first statement
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹5,000 a month
At ₹5,000 a month — ₹60,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹300 gross (earn ₹300) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹299 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹50,000 a year = ₹300 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #1083
Why #1083 The better half of ICICI's two metro co-brands on paper — a bigger fare discount and double the auto-recharge accrual its Bangalore twin advertised — and the one ICICI dropped harder. Ranked below every card a reader can still apply for; the general earn was 0.5% and the currency it paid in has since been sold and renamed.
ICICI priced this family's point itself, on the Bangalore twin's benefits page: "Each PAYBACK Point is equivalent to ₹0.25 when redeemed for Metro Miles" — the redemption that pushed points back onto the metro smart-card chip as fare, and the one this card's own page names too ("Redemption of PAYBACK Points for Metro travel, with Metro Miles - powered by PAYBACK"). ₹0.25 is exactly what this board marks a PAYBACK Point at, so no haircut is baked into `earn.base`. PAYBACK India was bought by BharatPe and rebranded Zillion in May 2023, so the programme this card earned into no longer exists under that name.
The take
ICICI built exactly two metro credit cards and this is the Mumbai one — the same construct as its Bangalore twin, sold harder. The Mumbai Metro Smart Card chip sat inside the credit card, Auto Recharge kept the chip topped up out of the credit line, and ICICI's own page promised "up to 20% discount on travel fare at Mumbai Metro" against Bangalore's flat 15%, plus double the auto-recharge accrual its twin advertised in the same bullet position. Points went back into fare through Metro Miles at ICICI's published ₹0.25 apiece, which is the closed loop that made these cards interesting: a commuter card whose reward literally paid the commute. Everything outside the metro is ordinary — 2 PAYBACK Points per ₹100 is 0.5%, fuel earns nothing but gets a surcharge waiver at HPCL, dining runs through Culinary Treats. Read the two ICICI pages side by side, though, and they do not agree with each other about the accelerator: the key-privileges bullet says eight points per auto-recharge TRANSACTION and the benefits page says four per ₹100 SPENT. This desk models the per-₹100 figure, which is the one that can be turned into a rate at all, and tells you the other exists. It is the more thoroughly withdrawn of the pair: where the Bangalore path at least still catches a redirect, this one returns the same 404 body an invented slug does.
Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel
This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.
Keep, downgrade or cancel
₹299/yr at stake · 5 spend bands
The charge ₹299/yr
The waiver ₹50,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹4,167 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹5,000 a month — ₹60,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.
At your spend
₹1,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹3,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹6,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹18,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹30,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade
ICICI Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
What has changed under this card
- 10 Sep 2026 ICICI's September lounge list drops four doors and adds Bhogapuram issuer-wide
- 29 Aug 2026 ICICI un-reserves Mumbai's Adani Silver lounge — the whole Annexure-1 board gets in issuer-wide
- 1 Jul 2026 ICICI's lounge-gate exemption expires for Adani One and MakeMyTrip issuer-wide

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- A Mumbai Metro Smart Card chip built into the credit card — tap the card itself at the gate
- Auto Recharge tops the metro chip up from the credit line automatically, and earns double PAYBACK Points doing it
- Up to 20% off the travel fare at Mumbai Metro — five points more than the Bangalore twin's flat 15%
- Metro Miles: PAYBACK Points redeemed back into metro fare at ICICI's published ₹0.25 a point
- ₹299 a year, reversed on ₹50,000 of anniversary-year spend — one of the lowest reversal bars ICICI has published
- A 2.5% fuel-surcharge waiver at HPCL pumps and a minimum 15% dining discount through Culinary Treats
Watch out
- WITHDRAWN — the product path returns the same 404 body an invented slug does, and ICICI's live MITC keeps only an unnamed "ICICI Bank Unifare Credit Card" fee row
- ICICI'S OWN TWO PAGES DISAGREE ON THE ACCELERATOR: the key-privileges bullet reads "8 PAYBACK Points on every Auto Recharge transaction" and the benefits page reads "4 PAYBACK Points on every ₹100 spent on Auto Recharge transactions". The per-₹100 figure is what is modelled here
- THE CURRENCY HAS BEEN SOLD AND RENAMED: PAYBACK India was acquired by BharatPe and rebranded Zillion in May 2023
- The fare discount is "up to" 20%, and ICICI publishes no band, no cap and no qualifying condition behind it
- Fuel purchases earn no PAYBACK Points at all — the 2.5% surcharge waiver is capped at a ₹4,000 transaction and only on ICICI Merchant Services swipe machines
- Nothing on file entitles this card to lounge access of any kind
- Finance charges ran at 3.40% a month (40.80% a year) on both purchases and cash
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes PAYBACK Points (now Zillion Coins) into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹50,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹299 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. ICICI Bank states what the ICICI Unifare Mumbai Metro earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹50,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

You cannot. ICICI's Mumbai Metro product path returns a plain 404, no Unifare product page survives on the live estate, and the only trace left is an unnamed fee row in the MITC.
ICICI Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

- 10 Sept 2026ICICI's September lounge list drops four doors and adds BhogapuramThe prior edition opened Bhubaneswar's landside Bird Lounge, Vadodara's Premium Lounge, Visakhapatnam's Airr Lounge and Bar, and Dehradun's landside Bird Lounge, and filed Ahmedabad T2 international as The Lounge opposite Gate 3 → Those four rooms are gone. Bhubaneswar keeps O'Vetra near Gate 8, Dehradun keeps Carnations in the security hold, Vadodara is off the list, and Visakhapatnam's rows are Encalm domestic and international at Bhogapuram. Ahmedabad T2 international is Adani Silver Lounge - International, Gate 08, and it is not asterisked
ICICI re-saved its consolidated domestic lounge list on 10 September 2026 and moved rooms, not quotas. Four doors an Annexure-1 card used to open are off the list: Bhubaneswar's landside Bird Lounge (O'Vetra, airside near Gate 8, stays), Vadodara entirely, Visakhapatnam's Airr Lounge and Bar, and Dehradun's landside Bird Lounge (Carnations, in the security hold, stays). Visakhapatnam's replacement is two Encalm rooms at Bhogapuram, which this map does not carry yet — the airport is not in our coordinate file, so those doors are recorded here and not drawn. Ahmedabad's T2 international row is no longer The Lounge opposite Gate 3. It is Adani Silver Lounge - International, first floor, Gate 08, and the row has no asterisk, so the whole Annexure-1 board gets it at each card's own quarterly quota rather than the three unlimited cards alone. Noida's three Jewar rows are still on the PDF and still unmapped.
- 29 Aug 2026ICICI un-reserves Mumbai's Adani Silver lounge — the whole Annexure-1 board gets in
- 29 Jul 2026Times Black publishes its eligibility bar and swaps BLADE for Thumby Aviation
- 1 Jul 2026ICICI's lounge-gate exemption expires for Adani One and MakeMyTripAdani One ICICI Signature, Adani One ICICI Platinum and the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card were exempt from the ₹75,000-per-quarter spend gate on complimentary domestic lounge access — "valid till Jun 30, 2026" → All three now "require spends of ₹ 75,000 to be made in a calendar quarter to unlock airport lounge access in the next calendar quarter, with effect from Jul 01, 2026"
ICICI's MITC, headed "Last updated on Aug 2nd, 2026", carries the expiry date inside the exemption list itself and then restates it as a dated instruction below. No lounge visit is removed — MakeMyTrip keeps 2 domestic a quarter plus 1 international, Adani One Signature 4 a quarter plus 2 Priority Pass, Adani One Platinum 2 a quarter — but all of them now cost ₹3 lakh of routed annual spend on top of the fee, which reprices the ₹750 Adani One Platinum hardest. The ₹75,000 excludes rent, government, education, EMI, fees, interest, DCC and reversals, and the qualifying quarter is offset (26th to 25th), so the spend that unlocks Oct-Dec was made between 26 June and 25 September. Worth flagging for the desk: ICICI's own "Upcoming changes to Credit Card features and charges" page, re-read 28 August 2026, still lists MakeMyTrip among the exempt cards with no expiry, and never names the Adani One pair at all. Two live ICICI documents, two different answers; the MITC is the regulated one and the more recently dated, so it is the one we follow.
