What it's worth to you, after the fee
Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. Everything we can source — the fee, the charges, the migration that put this card in your hand — is above and stands on its own; this card is simply not on the board, not in the calculator, and cannot win a best-of call until Karur Vysya Bank publishes terms we can cite.
Why we decline to value some cards, and what it takes to change that →
2 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · why it ranks #390
Why #390 Carried, not valued. The entry rung of KVB's own-licence range: no lounge access, a ₹599 fee that waives at ₹1 lakh, and a reward point the bank never prices on this page.
The take
Platinum is the entry rung of Karur Vysya Bank's own-licence range, and it is the one card of the three with no travel benefit at all — no lounge visits, no accelerated travel category, and the full 3.5% abroad. What it has is a low bar: nothing to take out, ₹599 a year, and the ₹599 disappears if last year's spend cleared **₹1,00,000** — a third of what the Honour one rung up demands, and the only number on which this card beats its senior. The rest is thin by design. Two reward points per ₹150, a half-step accelerator on restaurants, medical, books, insurance, rail and movie tickets and car rentals, 500 bonus points on activation, free add-ons, and a limit that starts at ₹25,000. The credit terms are the range's — 3.25% a month, 39% a year — and every redemption request costs ₹99 with a 2,000-point floor the first time. KVB never publishes a rupee value for the point on this page, so nobody, this desk included, can tell you what any of that is worth. **There is a name collision worth naming.** This is NOT the KVB SBI Platinum Card. Karur Vysya distributes SBI Card co-brands under the same brand and the same word, and they are different products with different issuers, different fees and different rewards programmes. If your card says "SBI Card" on it, you are on the other page.

Keep, downgrade or cancel
what we can and cannot price
Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. A break-even is the spend at which value crosses a fee, and we are short one side of that sentence — so this desk prints no ladder, no crossing and no ₹0 standing in for either. What we can source about this card is under Sources.
Your copy of this card
You hold this card.
Kept on this device, in your browser. It is never sent to us, never synced, and nothing else on the site reads it yet.
The downgrade
Karur Vysya Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and we cannot price either side of it.
If you call to cancel
What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- Nil joining fee; the ₹599 annual fee waives if last year's spend exceeded ₹1,00,000 — a third of the Honour's bar
- 500 bonus reward points on card activation
- Add-on cards are free
- Credit limit from ₹25,000, with a fixed-deposit-secured version available
- 1% fuel surcharge waiver on single transactions of ₹500 to ₹4,000, up to ₹200 a billing cycle
Watch out
- No lounge access of any kind — the one card in KVB's own range with no travel benefit
- KVB publishes NO rupee value for a reward point on this card's page, so this desk prints no rate
- 3.5% foreign-currency markup, and 3.25% a month (39% a year) on revolving credit
- ₹99 on every redemption request, with a 2,000-point floor on your first
- Unredeemed points lapse every three years, or immediately if the minimum due goes unpaid past 60 days
- NOT the same card as the KVB SBI Platinum Card — same bank's branding, different issuer, different product
- No KFS or MITC PDF could be located for KVB's own-licence range; every figure here is from the product page
What these points actually fly
Karur Vysya Bank has not published what this card earns, so there are no points here to fly with — not zero points, and not points that go nowhere: nothing stated either way. The moment a benefit sheet exists we will price whatever it names.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹1,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹599 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. Karur Vysya Bank states what the KVB Platinum Credit Card earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹1,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

the route in — no cutoffs published
The cutoffs and the actual route in — not the "apply now" button, the door that opens.
Direct application — no invite list, no banking relationship required.
KVB's own words: "Platinum Credit Card issued to Individuals for meeting their general/personal expense." The product page carries a direct Apply Now form taking a name, mobile number and email — no invitation and no banking relationship is stated as a requirement, though the card runs five years "subject to fulfillment of the banks eligibility criteria" and KVB publishes no income floor or age band. The page also notes a fallback for thin files: "Nil.(option for secured card against FD available)".
Karur Vysya Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

The fine print
7 of 7 MITC rows published
What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
THE SLUG COLLISION IS REAL AND DELIBERATE: this is KVB's OWN Platinum, issued on the bank's own licence, and it is a different product from the board's sbi-kvb-platinum (the SBI Card x KVB co-brand). Both are branded KVB Platinum; only one is issued by KVB. Fees from the product page's own charges table, rows labelled "Joining fee — Free" and "Annual fee — Rs.599.00/card", waived if the previous year's spend exceeded ₹1,00,000 — a third of the Honour's ₹3,00,000 bar, and the only number on which this card beats its senior. No KFS or MITC PDF exists for KVB's own-licence range that could be located. Credit limit ₹0.25 lakh to ₹5 lakh; primary security "Nil.(option for secured card against FD available)"; validity 5 years; card replacement ₹199; cash processing at a branch ₹100; petrol surcharge 1%, waived on single transactions of ₹500 to ₹4,000 up to ₹200 a billing cycle; balance transfer from ₹10,000 at 18%. NO LOUNGE ACCESS is advertised anywhere on the page — the only card of KVB's three with none. Reward points accrue at 2 per ₹150, at 1.5x on restaurants, medical, books, insurance, rail tickets, movie tickets and car rentals, plus 500 on activation, and KVB publishes no rupee value for a point on this page. Note that the page's hero tile reads "2x rewards — Domestic and International travels, hotels and air tickets" while the feature list underneath contains no travel category at all; the tile is marketing copy, not an accelerator this desk will model. Same kvb.co.in NXDOMAIN caveat as the Honour.
