What it's worth to you, after the fee
Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. Everything we can source — the fee, the charges, the migration that put this card in your hand — is above and stands on its own; this card is simply not on the board, not in the calculator, and cannot win a best-of call until Tamilnad Mercantile Bank publishes terms we can cite.

3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #395
Why #395 Carried, not valued. Phoenix is Wings with a bigger fee and a current account in front of it; TMB publishes no reward structure for either, so there is no rate to rank it on.
The take
Phoenix is the sibling of Wings pointed at a different customer: not a salaried depositor but an **individual or proprietor holding a TMB current account** for at least a year, with two years of returns, ₹3 lakh of income and a 700 CIBIL score. TMB describes it as "a convenient payment solution for recurring business expenses" — a personal-liability card sold into a business relationship, which is why it sits on the retail cards hub rather than under /business/. The economics are Wings with the numbers moved. ₹500 a year instead of ₹250, waived at **₹1,00,000 of spend in a calendar year** rather than by one busy quarter — note that the same bank uses two different waiver shapes on two cards one page apart. Same RuPay Platinum tier, same 45-day interest-free period, same 24% on revolving credit from the transaction date, same up-to- 3.50% abroad, same 25% cash-advance limit at ₹25,000 a day. The one structural difference worth knowing is the repayment floor: **10% of the monthly billed amount, minimum ₹500**, where Wings does not publish one at all. That is double the 5% most Indian issuers set, and on a card meant for lumpy business spend it is the number that will bite. As with every TMB card, no reward structure is published anywhere, so there is nothing to earn back against it.

Keep, downgrade or cancel
what we can and cannot price
Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. A break-even is the spend at which value crosses a fee, and we are short one side of that sentence — so this desk prints no ladder, no crossing and no ₹0 standing in for either. What we can source about this card is under Sources.

The downgrade
Tamilnad Mercantile Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and we cannot price either side of it.
If you call to cancel
What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- Nil joining fee and nil issuance charge; ₹500 a year to keep
- The ₹500 waives on ₹1,00,000 of spend across the calendar year — an annual test, unlike Wings
- Up to 45 days interest-free, and EMI conversion on any spend of ₹5,000 or more
- Hotlisting free; a replacement card is ₹100
- Cash advance up to 25% of the sanctioned limit, ₹25,000 a day
Watch out
- TMB publishes NO reward structure for this card — no accrual rate, no redemption value, no lounge
- Minimum repayment is 10% of the billed amount, minimum ₹500 — double the 5% most Indian issuers set
- Up to 3.50% foreign-currency markup, and 24% a year on revolving credit from the transaction date
- Needs a TMB CURRENT account at least a year old — a savings account does not qualify you for this variant
- A duplicate statement older than two months costs ₹100
- Card validity is three years
What these points actually fly
Tamilnad Mercantile Bank has not published what this card earns, so there are no points here to fly with — not zero points, and not points that go nowhere: nothing stated either way. The moment a benefit sheet exists we will price whatever it names.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹1,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹500 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. Tamilnad Mercantile Bank states what the TMB Phoenix (RuPay) Credit Card earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹1,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

TMB states the test verbatim: "Any Individual or Proprietor, Must hold a Current Account with TMB, Minimum account vintage: 1 year, Minimum annual income: ₹3 lakhs & above, At least 2 Income Tax Returns filed, Latest CIBIL Score: Minimum 700." Two years of returns are the documents. The current account is the gate, and it is the one thing that separates this card from Wings.

The fine print
4 of 7 MITC rows published
What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
"Joining Fee — NIL" and "Card Issuance Charges — NIL" in the Key Features table; "Annual Renewal Fee — ₹500" in the Fees & Charges table, "Waived if spends ≥ ₹1,00,000 in a calendar year". Note the shape difference from its own sibling: Wings tests ONE QUARTER at ₹50,000, this one tests the CALENDAR YEAR at ₹1,00,000. MINIMUM REPAYMENT IS 10% of the monthly billed amount, minimum ₹500 — double the 5% most Indian issuers set, and the number most likely to bite on a card sold for lumpy business spend. Card replacement ₹100; duplicate statement older than two months ₹100; hotlisting NIL. RuPay Platinum tier; validity 3 years; interest-free period up to 45 days; EMI on any spend of ₹5,000 or more. SCOPE: TMB markets this as "designed for individuals and proprietors who maintain business relationships with the bank", but it is issued to an individual on personal liability and sits on the /personal/retail-cards hub — TMB's genuinely commercial products (smart-shopper VISA corporate, fleet cards, business card) live under /business/ and are out of scope. NO REWARD STRUCTURE AND NO LOUNGE CLAUSE is published for this card.
