What it's worth to you, after the fee

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. Everything we can source — the fee, the charges, the migration that put this card in your hand — is above and stands on its own; this card is simply not on the board, not in the calculator, and cannot win a best-of call until Jammu & Kashmir Bank publishes terms we can cite.

The take

Platinum Privilege is the Government Card renamed, and the rename came with the best fee line in J&K Bank's range: nothing to get it, nothing to keep it. The bank says it twice and in two documents — the product page's "Zero annual fee. No annual maintenance or renewal fee" and the consolidated service-charges schedule's own row, "Govt Employees : NIL", sitting beside ₹200 for Gold, ₹300 for Platinum and ₹1,000 for World. The same schedule then exempts this variant by name from the ₹200 renewal fee every other variant pays. That is the whole argument for the card, and it is a strong one, because the benefits are not stripped to match. Four complimentary domestic lounge visits a year — one a quarter — which is double what the fee-paying Platinum one rung up gets. A 1.99% foreign-currency markup, the Eminent's rate, against the 3.50% Platinum pays; on ₹1,00,000 of overseas spend that is ₹1,510 saved by the free card over the paid one. Quarterly vouchers on a three-rung ladder — ₹100 above ₹30,000 of quarterly spend, ₹200 above ₹50,000, ₹350 above ₹75,000, one voucher per quarter on cumulative spend — plus ₹250 on the first eligible transaction and 15% off, to ₹75, once a month at eligible lifestyle and food delivery merchants. The reward structure is the unusual part: a monthly tier rather than a category grid, paying double above ₹15,000 of monthly spend on the incremental rupees only. And as on every J&K card, the points accrue at a published rate and redeem at an unpublished one, so no rate is printed here. The gate is the catch and it is narrow: "Only Govt MOU employees are eligible for this card."

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

There is no renewal arithmetic to run on this card yet — and a break-even we cannot source is not one we will print.

Keep, downgrade or cancel

what we can and cannot price

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. A break-even is the spend at which value crosses a fee, and we are short one side of that sentence — so this desk prints no ladder, no crossing and no ₹0 standing in for either. What we can source about this card is under Sources.

The downgrade

Jammu & Kashmir Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and we cannot price either side of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • Genuinely free — zero joining fee and zero annual fee, and the bank's own schedule exempts this variant from the ₹200 renewal fee every other variant pays
  • 4 complimentary domestic lounge visits a year, one per quarter — double the fee-paying Platinum's quota
  • 1.99% foreign-currency markup, the same rate as the ₹1,500 Eminent and well under India's 3.5% norm
  • Quarterly vouchers of ₹100, ₹200 or ₹350 at ₹30,000, ₹50,000 and ₹75,000 of quarterly spend
  • ₹250 welcome voucher on the first eligible transaction
  • 15% off, up to ₹75, on a minimum ₹500 at eligible lifestyle and online food-delivery merchants, once a month
  • 1% fuel surcharge waiver on up to ₹5,000 of fuel a month

Watch out

  • Employer-gated: J&K Bank's own eligibility line reads "Only Govt MOU employees are eligible for this card"
  • J&K publishes NO rupee value for a reward point anywhere, so this desk prints no earn rate
  • The bank's Nov-2025 schedule of charges, never reissued, puts the Government Platinum's forex markup at 2.5% — the product page's 1.99% supersedes it from 12-03-2026
  • Only ONE voucher is issued per quarter, on cumulative spend — the rungs do not stack
  • Insurance, education, rent, wallet loads, fuel, cash and select transport and toll transactions earn nothing
  • The accelerated rate applies only to the incremental rupees above ₹15,000 of monthly spend, not to the whole month
  • No international lounge access — that starts at the Eminent

What these points actually fly

Jammu & Kashmir Bank has not published what this card earns, so there are no points here to fly with — not zero points, and not points that go nowhere: nothing stated either way. The moment a benefit sheet exists we will price whatever it names.

Direct application — no invite list, no banking relationship required.

Through your employer, and only through it. J&K Bank prints one eligibility line for this variant and no other — "Only Govt MOU employees are eligible for this card" — meaning employees of J&K Government, J&K Police, Ladakh Government and the other institutions and departments the bank names elsewhere in its schedule as having "concessions … granted by way of MoU/Tie-Ups". There is no public application funnel, no published income floor and no age band for any variant in the range. Existing Government Card holders migrate onto this plastic at expiry; the bank states that all benefits of the Government Card apply to the Platinum Privilege Card unless stated otherwise.

Jammu & Kashmir Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

"Joining Fee: Zero joining fee" and "Annual Fee: Zero annual fee. No annual maintenance or renewal fee" — the only genuinely free card in the range, and the Nov-2025 Annexure-I agrees from the other side: row M2 prices annual fees by variant with its own line "Govt Employees : NIL", and row M3 reads "Renewal Fee for all variants except Govt Employees Credit Card: ₹200 + GST". DATED FOREX CONFLICT: that same schedule says "For Govt. Platinum Credit cards Bank will charge cross-currency mark-up fee of 2.5% + GST", while the relaunched product page says 1.99% and dates its benefit cycle to 12-03-2026, which is past; the schedule is pre-relaunch and has not been reissued. GATE: "Only Govt MOU employees are eligible for this card" — the one variant in the range carrying an eligibility line at all. LOUNGE: 1 domestic visit per quarter, four a year — DOUBLE the fee-paying Platinum's two. Vouchers, not points: ₹250 welcome on the first eligible transaction, then one quarterly voucher on cumulative spend at ₹100 / ₹200 / ₹350 for ₹30,000 / ₹50,000 / ₹75,000, plus 15% off to ₹75 once a month at lifestyle and food-delivery merchants. Fuel surcharge waiver 1% on up to ₹5,000 of fuel a month. Reward points accrue on a MONTHLY TIER — 1 per ₹100 up to ₹15,000 of monthly spend, 2 per ₹100 on the incremental spend beyond it — and J&K publishes no rupee value for a point anywhere. NETWORK NOT PUBLISHED: the Mastercard golf and lounge links sit under Eminent only.

Launch moderate Jammu & Kashmir Bank
J&K Bank relaunches its card range as Eminent, Platinum and Platinum Privilege
A World Credit Card, a Platinum, a Gold and a Government Employees card, priced by the bank's Nov-2025 consolidated schedule at ₹1,000, ₹300, ₹200 and nil a year → Three revamped variants. Eminent (the renamed World Card) at a nil joining fee and ₹1,500 a year waived at ₹3,00,000 of spend, a 1.99% foreign-currency markup, 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter and 1 international a half-year. Platinum at ₹500 waived at ₹1,00,000, a 3.50% markup, 2 domestic lounge visits a year and a ₹500 voucher above ₹75,000 of quarterly spend. Platinum Privilege (the renamed Government Employees card), lifetime-free on both fees, a 1.99% markup, 4 domestic lounge visits a year and a three-rung quarterly voucher ladder from ₹30,000 of spend

A regional bank quietly built the cheapest low-markup travel pair in the country. J&K Bank's relaunch renames the World Card to Eminent and the Government Employees card to Platinum Privilege, and puts a 1.99% foreign-currency markup on both — well under India's 3.5% norm, and on the Platinum Privilege it costs nothing at all, because that card charges neither a joining nor an annual fee. Eminent's ₹1,500 buys eight domestic lounge visits a year and two international ones, which is more domestic access than most cards at that price. The Platinum is the odd one out and the one to skip: ₹500, the full 3.50% markup, and two lounge visits a YEAR against the Eminent's two a quarter. What the desk cannot price on any of them is the reward point — J&K publishes the accrual (1 point per ₹100, 3 on online travel, apparel, dining and electronics on Eminent) and no rupee value for a point on the product page, in the consolidated schedule or on its own rewards portal, so all three cards are carried and none is valued. Existing World and Government cardholders were migrated where they stood: the benefits already apply, and new plastic follows when the old card expires.
