What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: 1,000 Delight Points — 500 on card activation and 500 more on a first transaction of ₹1,500 or more within 30 days of activation, worth ₹250 together
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee
At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹0 gross (earn ₹0) against its ₹0 fee = ₹0 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #401
Why #401 The free end of a shelf whose points are worth 25 paise. A third of a percent is a third of a percent, but it costs nothing at all — no joining fee, no annual fee, no renewal fee, no closure charge and no redemption charge, which is more than IDBI's own LIC co-brands can say. Ranked below Eclat and Royale on rate and above nothing on features: there is no lounge, no partner and a 3.5% forex markup.
The take
Aspire Platinum is IDBI's entry card and it is genuinely free in every direction the bank can charge you. The MITC's fee table reads NIL across joining, annual and renewal, on the primary and the add-on; the closure charge is NIL where the Imperium and both LIC co-brands levy ₹999 inside the first year; and the reward redemption fee is NIL where Eclat and Lumine take ₹99 off every burn. That last one matters more than it sounds, because IDBI's minimum redemption is 1,000 points — ₹250 — and a ₹99 toll on that is a 40% haircut. Here there is no toll. What you give up is the rate. Two Delight Points per ₹150 is 1.33 points per ₹100, and IDBI's own rewards portal answers the only question that matters — "Value of 1 Delight Point = Rs. 0.25" — so the card pays 0.33%. Royale Signature pays 0.75% and Eclat 1.00% on the same shelf, both also free, which makes Aspire hard to argue for unless you cannot get either. The milestones help a little: 1,000 points at ₹1 lakh of net annual spend and 1,500 more at ₹2 lakh, which together add ₹625 and lift the effective rate on a ₹2 lakh year to about 0.64%. Travel-wise there is nothing: no lounge, 3.5% forex, and Delight Points that reach no airline and no hotel.

The downgrade
IDBI Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
If you call to cancel
What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- Lifetime free on every line IDBI can charge — joining, annual, renewal, add-on and account closure all read NIL in the MITC
- Reward redemption is free on this card, where IDBI's two LIC co-brands charge ₹99 per redemption
- 1,000 welcome Delight Points: 500 on activation, 500 on a first spend of ₹1,500 within 30 days
- Milestone points at ₹1 lakh (1,000) and ₹2 lakh (1,500) of net annual spend
- 1% fuel-surcharge waiver on transactions of ₹400–₹4,000, capped at ₹300 a month
Watch out
- 0.33% is the rate — IDBI's own Royale Signature pays 0.75% and its LIC Eclat 1.00%, and both are also free
- A Delight Point is ₹0.25 and redeems only into IDBI's own catalogue and cashback; there is no airline or hotel partner
- 1,000 Delight Points is the minimum redemption, so ₹75,000 of spend before the first ₹250 comes back
- Delight Points expire three years from the date of issuance
- Forex is 3.5% and there is no lounge access of any kind
- Revolves at 2.90% a month — 34.80% a year — and cash advances cost 2.5% or ₹500, whichever is higher
- IDBI's stated conversion, 'every 1 Delight Points = 0.25 paisa', is self-contradictory against its own 1,000-point redemption floor: read literally it would make 1,000 points worth ₹2.50. The desk reads it as 25 paise, which is what IDBI's rewards portal states elsewhere
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes IDBI Delight Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Does your spend count toward the milestones?
not published — and we say which
₹1,00,000 a year is the bar for the first milestone. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. IDBI Bank states what the IDBI Bank Aspire Platinum earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the milestones — the ₹1,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

LIFETIME FREE IN EVERY DIRECTION IDBI CAN CHARGE. The MITC's Schedule of Fees & Charges (effective 13 April 2023) reads NIL / NIL / NIL / NIL across joining, annual (from the 2nd year onwards), renewal and add-on annual — and the card account closure charge is NIL too, where Imperium and both LIC co-brands levy ₹999 inside the first year. Earn is 2 Delight Points per ₹150 = 1.333 per ₹100 at IDBI Delight's ₹0.25 = 0.33%. Welcome 500 points on activation plus 500 on a first transaction of ₹1,500 or more within 30 days; milestones 1,000 points at ₹1 lakh and 1,500 at ₹2 lakh of net annual spend.
