No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee

At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹100 gross (earn ₹100) against its ₹0 fee = ₹100 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

IndusInd's own Duo value table prices a Reward Point at ₹0.75 — "Annual value of Reward Points on an average spend of ₹30,000 per month (200*12*0.75) ₹1,800" — a shade under the ₹0.80 house value the IndusInd Reward Points shelf carries. earn.base bakes the small haircut in.

Best real exit: Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer at ₹0.28/pt (4:1 transfer).

The take

The Duo is genuinely one of a kind: a single card with two magnetic stripes, two EMV chips and two PINs, one side drawing on your IndusInd account and the other on a credit limit, chosen by which way round you put it into the machine. As a piece of engineering it is the most interesting card on this board. As a credit card it is ordinary. IndusInd's own value table puts the earn at 200 Reward Points a month on ₹30,000 of spend at ₹0.75 a point — half a percent — plus ₹3,000 of annual movie tickets and the standard 1% fuel-surcharge waiver on the credit side only. There is no lounge access: the MITC names Duo in the list where Priority Pass is not available. The mark-up abroad is 3.5% despite what the product page still says, and cash redemption is now capped at 2,500 points a calendar month with a ₹149 fee attached. Two paid variants exist that the MITC's single Duo row does not price: Duo Plus asks ₹1,500 up front plus ₹799 a year and hands back a ₹1,000 brand voucher, and Duo Premier asks ₹3,000 plus ₹799 for a ₹3,000 one. Carry the free one for the novelty and the movie tickets; nothing here is a reason to move your spending.

The downgrade

IndusInd Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • India's first debit-cum-credit card — two chips, two PINs, one plastic
  • Lifetime free on the base variant: NIL joining and NIL annual fee in the MITC
  • ₹3,000 worth of annual movie tickets
  • 1% fuel-surcharge waiver across petrol pumps in India (credit side only)
  • Daily limits of ₹1,25,000 at ATMs and ₹2,00,000 at point of sale

Watch out

  • The product page still advertises a "2% Cross Currency Mark-up"; the current MITC puts this card in the "All other Credit Cards - 3.5%" bucket. Assume 3.5%
  • The product page also prints a "₹ 249 + Taxes Issuance Fee" that the MITC's Duo row does not carry — ask before you sign
  • No lounge access: IndusInd's MITC names Duo where "Priority Pass is not available"
  • Cash redemption is capped at 2,500 Reward Points a calendar month (w.e.f. 1 Sep 2024), and costs ₹149 a request
  • The insurance cover IndusInd advertises for Duo sits under its DEBIT half — it is not a credit-card benefit
  • A 2021 notice on IndusInd's own page warns that "certain product features on your IndusInd DUO Credit Card will be revised", and the value table has not been fully updated since
  • 2% dynamic-currency-conversion fee w.e.f. 15 June 2026, and 1% on cumulative fuel spends above ₹30,000 a statement cycle

What earns, what doesn't

6 sourced rules

Duo is one of five cards IndusInd EXEMPTS from its own reward-programme revision — the bank's notice ends "The revision in the merchant categories for earning Reward Points is not applicable for IndusInd Bank Platinum Select Credit Card, IndusInd Bank Platinum Aura/Aura Edge Credit Card (Shop, Travel and Party plans), IndusInd Bank Nexxt Credit Card, IndusInd Bank PAYBACK Credit Card and IndusInd Bank Duo Card." That revision is what cut utilities, insurance, government, education and rent to 0.70 Reward Points per ₹100 on the rest of IndusInd's shelf, Pioneer Private and Indulge included. On Duo those five categories keep the card's ordinary rate, which makes a lifetime-free card one of the very few in India that pays full freight on a school fee and an insurance premium alike. One IndusInd rule does still bind it: reward points are earned only on spend up to the assigned credit limit in a statement cycle — spend past the limit earns nothing and the excess points are forfeited.

Fuel not applicable
Rent & property management full — The ordinary rate on "Real Estate/Rental Payments", which the revision reached on 20-Jan-2022 for the rest of the shelf. Worth reading against Indulge and Platinum RuPay, whose own table rows say the 0.70-point rate "does not apply to Real Estate/Rental Payments" — those two cards earn NOTHING on rent while Duo earns its normal rate
Government / tax full — The ordinary rate on "Government Services/Charges/Payments", which the revision cut to 0.70 RP per ₹100 across the rest of IndusInd's shelf
Utilities (electricity/water/gas) full — The card's ordinary 1 Reward Point per ₹150 — IndusInd's revision that cut utility bill payments to 0.70 RP per ₹100 elsewhere on the shelf is "not applicable for … IndusInd Bank Duo Card"
Insurance full — The ordinary rate — insurance premium payments are one of the five categories the revision cut everywhere else, and Duo is exempt from it by name
Education full — The ordinary rate on "Education Institute Fees" — a category most Indian issuers zero outright and IndusInd merely trimmed, and trimmed on every card except this one and four others
Wallet loads not applicable
Groceries & supermarkets not applicable
Dining & food delivery not applicable
Telecom not applicable
Jewellery / gold not applicable
Forex / international spends not applicable
UPI (RuPay-on-UPI only) not applicable — Visa only — UPI credit linkage is RuPay-only under NPCI, and IndusInd does not publish a RuPay variant of Duo
EMI conversions / merchant EMI not applicable

The Duo needs an IndusInd Bank account, because half the card is that account's debit card. IndusInd publishes no income or age bar for it. Two paid variants sit above the free one and are sold on the same page but carry no MITC fee row of their own: Duo Plus asks ₹1,500 up front plus ₹799 a year and hands back a ₹1,000 brand voucher; Duo Premier asks ₹3,000 up front plus ₹799 for a ₹3,000 one.

India's debit-cum-credit card: one plastic, two magnetic stripes, two EMV chips and two PINs. Lifetime free on the base variant: the fee table reads "Duo | NIL | NIL | NA | NIL". TWO PAGE-VS-MITC CONFLICTS, both resolved to this document: the product page advertises a "2% Cross Currency Mark-up" where the MITC puts Duo in the "All other Credit Cards - 3.5%" bucket, and the page prints a "₹ 249 + Taxes Issuance Fee" the MITC's Duo row does not carry. Earn per IndusInd's own value table: 200 Reward Points a month on ₹30,000 of monthly spend, priced there at ₹0.75 a point — 0.5%. Plus ₹3,000 of annual movie tickets and a 1% fuel-surcharge waiver on the credit side only (the debit side has none). NO LOUNGE ACCESS — named in the MITC's "Priority Pass is not available" list. Daily limits ₹1,25,000 at ATMs and ₹2,00,000 at point of sale. Axis EDGE brings Accor back, drops ITC, and adds Cathay, Miles & More and Hilton
Accor and Marriott off the grid since 2 April 2026; Club ITC live; no Cathay, Miles & More or Hilton → Accor live at the punished rates; ITC removed; Cathay, Hilton and Miles & More live; Marriott still gone

Axis's own Travel EDGE terms, re-read 25 September 2026, already show the grid that went live on 23 September. Accor ALL is back, and not at the old Atlas 1:2: EDGE Miles convert at 2:1 (Olympus 1:2) and EDGE Rewards at 5:1, with Magnus for Burgundy at 5:2 and only Burgundy Private still at 5:4. Club ITC is off the table. Three partners are new. Cathay Asia Miles sits on that same punished grid. Hilton Honors is the ordinary one: EDGE Miles 1:2, EDGE Rewards 5:2, Burgundy 5:4. Lufthansa Miles & More is the exception on Atlas, which converts 1:1 there while every other standard airline on that card is 1:2; the EDGE Rewards side of Miles & More is the ordinary 5:2. Marriott stays removed. Qatar Privilege Club was already back. Flying Blue, Air India and Qantas moved into Group A, which is the capped group. The Axis Rewards credit card's Amex network is advertised as joining-fee and annual-fee nil for a limited period; there is no separate Amex variant on this board, so that offer is not modelled as a fee change.
