What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: British Airways Executive Club membership plus 3,500 Avios on first use, and a further 25,000 Avios for booking and flying a British Airways India–England return within the first three months
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹15,000 a month
At ₹15,000 a month — ₹1,80,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹3,600 gross (earn ₹3,600) against its ₹3,500 fee = ₹100 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #857
Why #857 Half the Premium's fee and half its accrual — a clean 2:1 split down ICICI's British Airways range, and still a rate no live Indian Avios card matches. Ranked at the foot of the board because it went first: it was already missing from ICICI's own airline menu by September 2016, while the Premium survived to that month.
The take
ICICI split its British Airways range straight down the middle, and the Classic is the cheaper half in every line of the table: ₹3,500 against ₹7,000, two Avios per ₹100 on everyday spend against four, four on British Airways tickets against six, one turbo step instead of two. The welcome bonus was priced to the fee almost to the rupee — 3,500 Avios for a ₹3,500 card — and sitting on top of it was the same 25,000-Avios prize for booking and flying a British Airways return to England inside the first three months, which was not scaled down at all and was worth more than seven times the annual fee on its own. Executive Club membership came with the card, the Avios were spendable across the whole oneworld alliance rather than only on BA metal, and the account carried the same odd twin-card shape: an American Express to earn on and a Mastercard for the many Indian merchants that would not take it, earning a quarter as much. Two Avios per ₹100 into a currency worth ₹1 is still a 2% travel card, which is more than the only Avios card an Indian can get today pays on ordinary spend. It went before its sibling did — ICICI's own airline menu had dropped the Classic by September 2016, while the Premium was still listed that month — and no closure notice was ever published for either.

The downgrade
ICICI Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What's good
- 2 Avios per ₹100 on everyday spend and 4 on British Airways tickets, each rising 25% past ₹2.25 lakh of annual spend
- British Airways Executive Club membership with the card, and 3,500 Avios on first use — the welcome bonus matched the fee
- 25,000 Avios for booking and flying a British Airways India–England return inside three months, undiminished from the dearer variant
- Avios earned and redeemed across the whole oneworld alliance, not only on British Airways
- Two cards on one account — an American Express to earn on and a Mastercard for merchants that refused it
- i-Assist 24x7 concierge and ICICI's Culinary Treats dining programme at a minimum 15% off
Watch out
- WITHDRAWN — ICICI stopped selling the account, and it had already dropped off the bank's own airline card menu by September 2016, ahead of the Premium variant
- The paired Mastercard earned 0.5 Avios per ₹100 against the Amex card's 2, so the blended rate depended entirely on how often Amex was accepted
- ₹3,500 a year from the first year, with no spend-based waiver published anywhere
- Only one turbo step, at ₹2.25 lakh of cumulative annual spend — the Premium's second step at ₹5 lakh does not exist here
- Interest ran at 3.15% a month, 37.80% a year, and the forex markup was 3.50%
- The fuel-surcharge waiver was HPCL-only and capped at ₹3,000 a transaction

Closed to new applications — existing cardholders keep the card; there is no way in.
You cannot. ICICI Bank withdrew the British Airways Classic Credit Card Account from sale; by September 2016 it was already absent from the bank's own airline card menu, which by then listed only the Premium account and the Jet Airways range. ICICI published no closure notice for it, so no migration path is on record here.
ICICI Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

- 10 Sept 2026ICICI's September lounge list drops four doors and adds BhogapuramThe prior edition opened Bhubaneswar's landside Bird Lounge, Vadodara's Premium Lounge, Visakhapatnam's Airr Lounge and Bar, and Dehradun's landside Bird Lounge, and filed Ahmedabad T2 international as The Lounge opposite Gate 3 → Those four rooms are gone. Bhubaneswar keeps O'Vetra near Gate 8, Dehradun keeps Carnations in the security hold, Vadodara is off the list, and Visakhapatnam's rows are Encalm domestic and international at Bhogapuram. Ahmedabad T2 international is Adani Silver Lounge - International, Gate 08, and it is not asterisked
ICICI re-saved its consolidated domestic lounge list on 10 September 2026 and moved rooms, not quotas. Four doors an Annexure-1 card used to open are off the list: Bhubaneswar's landside Bird Lounge (O'Vetra, airside near Gate 8, stays), Vadodara entirely, Visakhapatnam's Airr Lounge and Bar, and Dehradun's landside Bird Lounge (Carnations, in the security hold, stays). Visakhapatnam's replacement is two Encalm rooms at Bhogapuram, which this map does not carry yet — the airport is not in our coordinate file, so those doors are recorded here and not drawn. Ahmedabad's T2 international row is no longer The Lounge opposite Gate 3. It is Adani Silver Lounge - International, first floor, Gate 08, and the row has no asterisk, so the whole Annexure-1 board gets it at each card's own quarterly quota rather than the three unlimited cards alone. Noida's three Jewar rows are still on the PDF and still unmapped.
- 29 Aug 2026ICICI un-reserves Mumbai's Adani Silver lounge — the whole Annexure-1 board gets in
- 3 Aug 2026SBI drops Etihad Guest from the MILES transfer table — the last SBI door into the programmeSBI Card Travel Credits transferred 1:1 into Etihad Guest, one of eighteen airline partners in §3 of the MILES rewards T&C. At the ₹1/partner-mile anchor that was a full-value exit, and it was the only route left after the two Etihad Guest SBI co-brands were retired. → No Etihad route at all. The MILES rewards T&C now lists seventeen airline partners and Etihad is not one of them — the word does not appear anywhere in the seven-page document. Every other SBI partner survives at the same ratio.
SBI Card's own MILES rewards T&C, re-fetched on 22 August 2026 and carrying a 3 August 2026 ModDate inside the PDF, has one fewer airline in it than the edition this desk read on 2 August. The deletion is provable from the numbering rather than from absence alone: the table's first seven rows are unchanged (Air Canada 3, Air France-KLM 4, Air India 5, British Airways 6, Cathay 7), and every row from position eight onward has moved up exactly one — Thai from 14 to 13, Qantas from 17 to 16. Position eight was Etihad Airways / Etihad Guest / 1:1. All twenty-four other partners we carry, airline and hotel, are still there at the same ratios, so this is Etihad being dropped and not SBI narrowing transfers. The timing matters more than the ratio. SBI phased out the Etihad Guest SBI and Etihad Guest SBI Premier cards from December 2025 and reissued holders onto MILES products, and the transfer route was what made that migration survivable — a Premier holder who had spent six years earning Etihad miles could keep feeding the same account through Travel Credits. That is now closed, and India's remaining pipes into Etihad Guest run through BOBCARD's Etihad co-brands, not through SBI. If you hold SBI Travel Credits earmarked for an Abu Dhabi business seat, they are Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avios or Maharaja points now. ON THE DATE: SBI publishes no notice and no cut-off. The date here is the day the desk read the change out of SBI's own document; the PDF's internal ModDate puts the edition at 3 August 2026, which is the earliest day we can prove, not an announcement.
