Welcome: 1,000 points for spends above ₹10,000 within 90 days of issuance — ₹50 at the bank's own redemption rate.

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹9,000 a month

At ₹9,000 a month — ₹1,08,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹100 gross (earn ₹100) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹800 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹1,00,000 a year = ₹100 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

Why #428 Four domestic lounge visits a year and two abroad, on a card that costs nothing above ₹1,00,000 of spend. The points are a rounding error — 2 per ₹100 redeemed at five paise is 0.1% — so this is a lounge card with a reward programme bolted on for appearances.

₹0 + GST
Joining fee, then ₹800/yr1
₹1,00,000 spend
Fee waiver

Five paise a point, stated in terms on the product page: "Redemption of reward points @ Rs. 0.05/point". Redemption runs through internet banking only, against a gift catalogue (₹75 redemption fee) or a cash credit to your own bill (free). Points expire two years after they are earned and are purged outright if you close the card. No airline, no hotel, no transfer partner — Dhanlaxmi names none on any card it issues.

The take

Dhanlaxmi Bank is a small Thrissur lender with three credit cards, and this is the only one of them that opens an international lounge door. The bank publishes its own quota rather than leaning on RuPay's: one domestic visit per quarter and one abroad per half year, four plus two a year. At ₹800 — waived outright once you have put ₹1,00,000 through the card — that is a lower entry price for a foreign lounge than anything the big issuers sell, and the fee bar is half what ICICI or Axis ask for a domestic-only quota. Everything else about the card is beside the point, and the bank has been unusually honest about how little there is. Two reward points per ₹100, redeemed at five paise a point, is 0.1% — the weakest base on this board — and the points reach no airline and no hotel, expire in two years and vanish if you close the card. The 5% grocery cashback is capped at ₹50 a billing cycle, so it is ₹600 a year at absolute best, and the T&C says in terms that a spend paid in cashback earns no points at all: the two legs do not stack. Forex is 3.5%, the Indian norm, on the card whose selling point is a lounge outside India — you will pay more in markup on one overseas trip than the lounge visits are worth in coffee. Buy it for the six visits, put ₹1,00,000 a year through it to kill the fee, and swipe something else abroad.

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.

₹1,00,000 annual spend erases that fee
₹9,000/mo is where the waiver, not the earn, saves it

Keep, downgrade or cancel

₹800/yr at stake · 5 spend bands

The charge ₹0 joining, then ₹800/yr

The waiver ₹1,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹8,333 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.

Break-even ₹9,000 a month — ₹1,08,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.

At your spend

₹300 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹600 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹1,200 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹3,600 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹6,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade

Dhanlaxmi Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 4 domestic lounge visits a year (1 a quarter) PLUS 2 international (1 a half-year) — for ₹800
  • Fee waived entirely above ₹1,00,000 of annual spend, add-on card spend counted
  • ₹0 to get: the MITC prints joining fee "Nil for new customers" beside the ₹800 annual
  • Credit-card-on-UPI, so the RuPay rails reach every QR code in India
  • 1,000-point welcome bonus for ₹10,000 of spend inside 90 days

Watch out

  • 0.1% base — 2 points per ₹100 at ₹0.05 apiece. Nine cards in ten on this board pay more
  • Dhanlaxmi Reward Points reach NO airline and NO hotel; they buy gifts or credit your own bill
  • Points expire after 2 years and are purged the day you close the card (T&C §30.9.9 and §30.9.4)
  • The 5% grocery cashback is capped at ₹50 a billing cycle — ₹600 a year — and spends paid in cashback earn no points
  • 3.5% forex, the India norm, on the only Dhanlaxmi card sold on an international lounge
  • The lounge operator is never named — no list, no programme, no network on the bank's own page
  • ₹400 to re-join if you closed a Dhanlaxmi card within the last three years

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes Dhanlaxmi Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?

not published — and we say which

₹1,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹800 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.

Not published. Dhanlaxmi Bank states what the Dhanlaxmi Bank RuPay Dhan Samriddhi earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹1,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

The fine print

7 of 7 MITC rows published

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.

Forex markup 3.5% foreign-currency transaction fee
APR 1.9%/mo (22.80%/yr) revolving; 3%/mo (36%/yr) on cash advances; 3.5%/mo (42%/yr) from the date of default
Late fee 30% of the minimum amount due, min ₹400, max ₹600
Cash advance ₹400 per transaction; cash limit 15% of the total limit
Add-on card Nil — the MITC prints Nil against both joining and annual fee for add-on cardholders
Overlimit 2.5% of the amount breached, min ₹300
Redemption fee ₹75 for gift redemptions; Nil for a cash redemption against your own bill

One MITC covers Dhanlaxmi's whole credit-card shelf, and its fee table is split into exactly two columns — "[Visa/RuPay] Platinum" and "RuPay Select" — with no marketing card name anywhere in the document. Dhan Samriddhi is the Select column: annual fee 800 against Platinum's 400, and footnote # reads "Annual fee waived if annual usage is Rs.50,000 or more for Visa/RuPay Platinum variant and Rs.100000 for RuPay Select variant. Usage in Add-on card is also considered for the waiver" — the ₹1,00,000 bar the product page states. Joining fee is "Nil for new customers", with footnote 1: "Rs.400 for customers who had earlier availed and closed our credit card within last three years". Renewal Fee is printed separately as Nil, so the ₹800 annual is the only recurring charge. Also here: interest-free period 20–50 days, card replacement ₹300, cheque return ₹500, EMI processing 1% and EMI interest 14%/yr up to six months. NO lounge clause, no reward-accrual rate, no income floor and no age band appear anywhere in this document — the earn rate and the lounge quota exist only on the product page, and the reward-programme rules only in the separate Credit Card Terms & Conditions. Dhan Vriddhi is deliberately NOT given a row off this file: it matches the Platinum column exactly (₹400, waived at ₹50,000) but the document names a network tier, not that product, and Vriddhi's own page links no MITC.
