No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹13,000 a month

At ₹13,000 a month — ₹1,56,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹1,600 gross (earn ₹1,600) against its ₹1,499 fee = ₹100 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

2 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · why it ranks #1052

RBL Bank · Not published · premium

Why #1052 Ranked below every card a reader can still apply for — RBL and Zomato ended the partnership in May 2023 and every holder was moved to Shoprite. On its own numbers it was one of the strongest sub-₹1,500 cards India has had: a 1.5% foreign-currency markup when the norm was 3.5%, eight domestic lounge visits, and ten percent back on two apps people use weekly.

The take

This was RBL's Zomato co-brand and, for about eight months, one of the best-value cards in India under ₹1,500. The headline is the food: 10% back on everything bought through the Zomato and Blinkit apps, paid in Edition Cash — which is rupees, as RBL's own daily cap proves, since 1,000 Edition Cash a day is exactly 10% of ₹10,000 — plus a complimentary Zomato Pro Plus membership on top. Everything else earned a flat 1%, with only wallet loads and rent carved out, and ₹5 lakh of annual spend paid another ₹2,000. The travel side is what makes it interesting to this desk rather than merely to a hungry reader, and it is genuinely unusual at the price. The foreign-currency markup was 1.5% when the Indian norm was — and still is — 3.5%, so this card was two full points cheaper to spend abroad than almost anything on the shelf beside it. Two domestic lounge visits every calendar quarter, and two international visits a year through a complimentary Priority Pass membership you had to ask for. A buy-one-get-one BookMyShow ticket every month. And the ₹1,499 fee went to zero on ₹4 lakh of spend — a lower bar than the ₹5 lakh that paid the bonus, which is an odd pair of thresholds to set on purpose. It ended abruptly. RBL notified cardholders that the Zomato partnership "is getting discontinued", replaced every Edition card with a lifetime-free Shoprite from 15 May 2023, refunded any fee paid after 1 May 2022, and gave holders until 14 May to spend their Edition Cash before the dashboard came off the Zomato app.

The downgrade

RBL Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What has changed under this card

  • 7 Jan 2026 RBL bolts a 1% fee onto FASTag loads and tolls — the fifth 1% line on its charge sheet issuer-wide
  • 1 Jul 2025 RBL gates domestic lounges behind ₹35k a quarter issuer-wide
  • 15 Oct 2024 RBL strips points from education, government and wallet spends issuer-wide

We price what is in force today — a change that has not happened yet is not in these numbers. the full archive for this card →

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 10% back on the Zomato and Blinkit apps, paid as Edition Cash — rupees, not points — to 1,000 a day
  • A 1.5% foreign-currency markup against an Indian norm of 3.5%
  • 8 domestic lounge visits a year, plus 2 international visits through a complimentary Priority Pass
  • 1% on everything else, with only wallet loads and rent carved out — fuel still earned
  • Complimentary Zomato Pro Plus membership
  • ₹2,000 more at ₹5 lakh of annual spend, and the ₹1,499 fee waived at ₹4 lakh
  • Buy-one-get-one BookMyShow ticket up to ₹200, once a month

Watch out

  • WITHDRAWN — RBL notified holders that the Zomato partnership "is getting discontinued" and replaced every Edition card with a lifetime-free Shoprite from 15 May 2023
  • The successor is NOT equivalent: Shoprite is a grocery card with no lounge access, no Priority Pass and RBL's standard 3.50% forex
  • The Priority Pass was "available on request" — you had to ask RBL for it, and the two international visits a year were the whole international quota
  • Edition Cash earned nothing on wallet loads or rent payments
  • Edition Cash lived on the Zomato app's Edition Dashboard, not on the card, and holders had until 14 May 2023 to spend it before the dashboard was withdrawn
  • The fee waiver (₹4 lakh) and the bonus threshold (₹5 lakh) are different numbers — hitting one does not get you the other

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes Statement cashback (₹) into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?

not published — and we say which

₹4,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹1,499 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.

Not published. RBL Bank states what the RBL Edition Black earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver and the milestones — the ₹4,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

RBL relaunches the Shoppers Stop co-brand as a Gold / Platinum / Black trio
An older single Shoppers Stop co-brand line → Three tiers — Gold (₹1,000), Platinum (₹5,000), Black (₹10,000) annual — earning 10 RP/₹200 (Gold, Platinum) or 15 RP/₹200 (Black) across the Shoppers Stop Universe, with points worth ₹0.25 / ₹0.50 / ₹1.00 respectively

RBL rebuilt its Shoppers Stop co-brand into a three-card ladder. The fee rung buys a richer point, not just more of them: a Reward Point is worth ₹0.25 on Gold, ₹0.50 on Platinum and ₹1.00 on Black, so Black's 15 RP per ₹200 at ₹1 a point is a genuine 7.5% back on First Citizen days inside the Shoppers Stop Universe. Welcome vouchers scale the same way (₹500 quarterly on Gold, ₹2,000 plus Platinum membership and a makeover on Platinum, ₹1,500 quarterly on Black). No lounge access on any of the three — these are store cards and earn like it, with value only inside Shoppers Stop. All three are already on our board.
