Kotak Royale Signature
KeepA travel accelerator that doubles 0.33% into 0.67% — and a lounge quota you have to buy back every quarter.
a year at ₹40,000 a month, after the fee
Skip the arithmetic — the board, ranked → · nothing to sign up for
What it's worth to you, after the fee
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹9,000 a month
At ₹9,000 a month — ₹1,08,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹300 gross (earn ₹300) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹999 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹1,00,000 a year = ₹300 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
1 notes on the card itself: how it is issued
Royale Signature points redeem at the ₹0.25 catalogue rate — Kotak's own reward table prices the Royale grid at "25 paise per point" — with no airline or hotel transfer partner anywhere in the programme. So 4 points per ₹150 on travel is 0.67% back and that is the ceiling, not a starting position.
The take
The Royale Signature is a discontinued card doing one honest thing: it pays double on hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, tour operators, airlines and every international swipe. The arithmetic is the problem. Double of 2 reward points per ₹150 is 4 per ₹150, and at Kotak's 25-paise catalogue rate that is 0.67% back on travel against 0.33% on everything else — a real accelerator on a base so low that the acceleration barely registers. The lounge is two DreamFolks visits a quarter, and since 1 June 2025 you unlock the next quarter's pair only by spending ₹75,000 in the current one. Milestones are the biggest number here: 10,000 points at ₹4 lakh or 30,000 at ₹8 lakh, and the "or" is real — they do not stack, so ₹8 lakh of spend buys ₹7,500 of catalogue value. Nobody can apply any more, and nobody should mourn it; existing holders with the ₹999 renewal and a ₹1 lakh waiver bar are getting a cheap lounge card, and that is the whole case.
Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel
This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.
Keep, downgrade or cancel
₹999/yr at stake · 5 spend bands
The charge ₹1,499 joining, then ₹999/yr
The waiver ₹1,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹8,333 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹9,000 a month — ₹1,08,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.
At your spend
₹900 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹4,400 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹11,300 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹18,800 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹26,300 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade
Kotak Mahindra Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
What has changed under this card
- 8 Sep 2026 Flying Blue splits award tickets into Light / Standard / Flex — a 25% rise for the same product a program these points reach
- 1 Jun 2025 Kotak's June-2025 fee wave washes over the premium deck issuer-wide
- 12 Feb 2025 RBI lifts Kotak's ten-month card-issuance ban issuer-wide

If you call to cancel
What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- 4 reward points per ₹150 on hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, tour operators, airlines and all international spend
- 2 DreamFolks domestic lounge visits a quarter — subject to the ₹75,000 quarterly spend gate
- 10,000 bonus points at ₹4 lakh of annual spend, or 30,000 at ₹8 lakh
- ₹999 renewal waives at ₹1,00,000 of annual retail spend — a low bar for a card with a lounge
Watch out
- Discontinued — the product page's own heading reads "Royale Signature Credit Card (Discontinued)"; existing holders only
- ₹1,499 to get it, ₹999 a year to keep it: two different numbers, and most comparison sites print only the second
- 0.33% everyday earn at ₹0.25 a point, doubling to just 0.67% on the travel categories
- Lounge visits are spend-gated since 1 Jun 2025 — ₹75,000 in a calendar quarter unlocks the next quarter's two
- The milestones do NOT stack: it is 10,000 points at ₹4L OR 30,000 at ₹8L, never both
- 3.5% forex markup, which swallows the international accelerator five times over
- Rent, fuel, wallet loads and skill-gaming earn nothing; education and insurance stop at ₹70,000 a cycle, utilities ₹50,000, government ₹40,000
- Closed loop — Kotak publishes no airline or hotel transfer partner for reward points
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Kotak Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

9 sourced rules · 3 pay zero
4 Reward Points per ₹150 on the accelerated list — hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and tour operators, package tour operators, airlines and air carriers, and international spend — and 2 per ₹150 on other eligible base categories. The category rows come from Kotak's dated revision table (w.e.f. 1 June 2025), which is word-for-word the one on Zen Signature, and the MCCs from its own published register. Card closed to new applications.
- Fuel · excluded Zero points w.e.f. 1 Jun 2025 — MCC 5172, 5541, 5542 and 5983, plus 1% on cumulative fuel spend past ₹35,000 a statement cycle
- Rent & property management · excluded Zero points w.e.f. 1 Jun 2025 — MCC 6513, plus 1% + GST on every rent transaction
- Wallet loads · excluded Zero points w.e.f. 1 Jun 2025 — MCC 6540, plus 1% on cumulative wallet loading past ₹10,000 a statement cycle
- Utilities (electricity/water/gas) · capped Points earn only on the first ₹50,000 of utility spend a statement cycle — MCC 4900, 4814, 4899 and 4812 — and the 1% utility fee starts at the same ₹50,000

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
7 of 15 categories answered
₹1,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹999 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Put your number in
₹80,000 a month of rent & property management is ₹9,60,000 a year that counts ₹0 toward the milestones.
The revision table's own gate clause, verbatim: "Spends on above categories will not be considered when calculating milestone benefits." That is the 10,000-point bonus at ₹4 lakh and the 30,000 at ₹8 lakh — so a year built on utilities, government and insurance can clear ₹8 lakh of billing and still miss the bonus entirely. No `waiver` gate is claimed: the ₹1 lakh annual-fee waiver is worded as "retail spend" with no published exclusion list.

There is no way in. Kotak withdrew the Royale Signature from sourcing and the product page now carries "(Discontinued)" in its own heading; the constituency is people who already hold it. If you want the same shape today, the Zen Signature is the live ₹1,500 card with lounge access, and the White is the ₹3,000 one with a Priority Pass membership attached.

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
THE JOINING FEE IS NOT THE ANNUAL FEE ON THIS CARD, and it is the only one of Kotak's seven where they differ. RCAS fee table, read by column position: joining "₹1,499 / NIL", annual "₹ 999", no joining-fee waiver condition, annual fee waived on minimum retail spend of ₹1 lakh in a year, add-on cards Waived. So ₹1,499 to get it and ₹999 a year to keep it — the renewal is CHEAPER than the joining charge, which is the reverse of the usual trap and just as easy to print wrong. The "/ NIL" is the programme-linked variant, issued free to customers who meet a banking relationship grade; the RCAS warns that a customer degraded out of that grade "will not be given programme linked fee waiver and will be required to pay Joining/Annual fees". Special-category transaction fees: 1% on utility spends past ₹50,000 a statement cycle, 1% on fuel past ₹35,000, 1% on wallet loading and on online skill-based gaming past ₹10,000 each, 1% + GST on every rent transaction, 1% on third-party-app education payments. Card closed to new applications.

- 30 Sept 2026Dream Different's unredeemed reward points expire after 30 September 2026Reward points accrued on the Dream Different Credit Card up to 31 March 2026 sitting in the account with no stated expiry date → A hard forfeiture date — "After 30th September, 2026, any unredeemed Reward Points will automatically expire"
The second half of the note that closed the programme is the part holders can still act on. Kotak's cardholder agreement gives every Dream Different point accrued up to 31 March 2026 a six-month redemption window that shuts on 30 September 2026, after which unredeemed points are forfeited outright. At the agreement's own conversion rate of 25 paise per point, a year of the card's headline 4-points-per-₹100 online earn on ₹1 lakh of online spend is roughly 4,000 points, about ₹1,000 — small money, but money that becomes zero on 1 October. Points redeem against the Kotak catalogue (flights, hotels, vouchers, merchandise) or as a statement credit through the rewards portal or the contact centre, each with its own minimum, so a last-week redemption risks missing the date on processing alone.
