What it's worth to you, after the fee

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes a fee schedule AND an earn table — we have neither number, so there is nothing to net off against nothing. Everything we can source — the fee, the charges, the migration that put this card in your hand — is above and stands on its own; this card is simply not on the board, not in the calculator, and cannot win a best-of call until RBL Bank publishes terms we can cite.

RBL Bank · Not published · entry

Why #1069 The senior half of a two-tier bookstore co-brand RBL ran with Crossword. Carried for the record, not ranked: RBL published the program and both card names but never priced either card or published an earn rate for it, so there is no number to rank on.

The take

RBL ran a co-brand with Crossword Bookstores in two tiers, Black and Rewards, and its own credit-card page describes the program in the bank's 2017 house style: "a credit card program specially crafted for your literary senses. Get great discounts for all your expenses at Crossword Bookstores and enjoy host of other benefits such as free movie tickets, airport lounge access, fuel surcharge waiver and a lot more." That sentence is most of what RBL ever published about it. The two card names each got a page of their own behind a Read More link, and the Internet Archive holds neither — the crawler took the index and stopped. What survives is the index page, which names both cards exactly, and three RBL fee documents that between them price seventy-six card variants and never once say Crossword. So this page carries what is provable and nothing else: the program existed, this was its senior tier, and it is gone. If you are holding one, the bank's live Schedule of Charges will tell you which product your account was migrated onto.

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

There is no renewal arithmetic to run on this card yet — and a break-even we cannot source is not one we will print.

Keep, downgrade or cancel

what we can and cannot price

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes a fee schedule AND an earn table — we have neither number, so there is nothing to net off against nothing. A break-even is the spend at which value crosses a fee, and we are short one side of that sentence — so this desk prints no ladder, no crossing and no ₹0 standing in for either. What we can source about this card is under Sources.

The downgrade

RBL Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and we cannot price either side of it.

What has changed under this card

  • 7 Jan 2026 RBL bolts a 1% fee onto FASTag loads and tolls — the fifth 1% line on its charge sheet issuer-wide
  • 1 Jul 2025 RBL gates domestic lounges behind ₹35k a quarter issuer-wide
  • 15 Oct 2024 RBL strips points from education, government and wallet spends issuer-wide

We price what is in force today — a change that has not happened yet is not in these numbers. the full archive for this card →

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • The senior tier of RBL's two-card Crossword Bookstores co-brand
  • RBL's program page names discounts at Crossword Bookstores, free movie tickets, airport lounge access and a fuel-surcharge waiver — without a single number attached to any of them

Watch out

  • WITHDRAWN — no Crossword row in RBL's live Schedule of Charges, and the product path 404s on the current estate
  • NO PUBLISHED FEE. RBL's contemporaneous Schedule of Charges prices by plastic tier and its MITC prices fourteen cards by name; Crossword is in neither, so we carry no fee rather than a guess
  • NO PUBLISHED EARN RATE and no named currency — the card is carried, not valued, and appears in no ranking or calculator
  • The lounge access RBL advertises for the program carries no quota, no operator and no lounge list, so this desk maps no door for it
  • RBL charges 1% on FIVE transaction types its Schedule of Charges lists separately from the reward exclusions: rent (MCC 6513, on every transaction), fuel and auto above ₹10,000 a transaction (capped at ₹3,000), utility spends above ₹50,000 a month, education paid through third-party apps such as CRED, PhonePe or Paytm (school and college websites are exempt), and — with effect from 7 January 2026 — FASTag loading and tolls above ₹10,000 a transaction. These are FEES, listed nowhere near the reward exclusions: a category can both cost you 1% and earn you nothing

What these points actually fly

RBL Bank has not published what this card earns, so there are no points here to fly with — not zero points, and not points that go nowhere: nothing stated either way. The moment a benefit sheet exists we will price whatever it names.

Closed to new applications — existing cardholders keep the card; there is no way in.

You cannot. RBL's live Schedule of Charges names sixty card variants and no Crossword row is among them, the live product path returns the same 404 body an invented path returns, and the Crossword program page itself was last captured in May 2017 before RBL retired the whole .aspx estate.

RBL Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

RBL relaunches the Shoppers Stop co-brand as a Gold / Platinum / Black trio
An older single Shoppers Stop co-brand line → Three tiers — Gold (₹1,000), Platinum (₹5,000), Black (₹10,000) annual — earning 10 RP/₹200 (Gold, Platinum) or 15 RP/₹200 (Black) across the Shoppers Stop Universe, with points worth ₹0.25 / ₹0.50 / ₹1.00 respectively

RBL rebuilt its Shoppers Stop co-brand into a three-card ladder. The fee rung buys a richer point, not just more of them: a Reward Point is worth ₹0.25 on Gold, ₹0.50 on Platinum and ₹1.00 on Black, so Black's 15 RP per ₹200 at ₹1 a point is a genuine 7.5% back on First Citizen days inside the Shoppers Stop Universe. Welcome vouchers scale the same way (₹500 quarterly on Gold, ₹2,000 plus Platinum membership and a makeover on Platinum, ₹1,500 quarterly on Black). No lounge access on any of the three — these are store cards and earn like it, with value only inside Shoppers Stop. All three are already on our board.
