Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹5,000 a month

At ₹5,000 a month — ₹60,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹600 gross (earn ₹600) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹550 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹50,000 a year = ₹600 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

Why #162 The only accessibility-designed credit card any Indian issuer has put on a product page, and it carries the RuPay Select lounge quota at the RuPay Select price. Ranked with its twin, not below it.

₹0.25 a point, printed on the Sparsh charges table as "4 points (1 Reward point = Rs. 0.25)". Redemption is a gift voucher or a credit against your own bill through Union Rewardz. Union Bank publishes no airline or hotel partner on any card it issues.

The take

Sparsh is the only credit card any Indian issuer has designed for visually impaired customers and then documented on a public product page, and Union Bank did not water it down to make the point. The accessibility work is real — a rectangular notch cut on the side opposite the chip so the card orients by touch, the letters "UBI" embossed in Braille, and an option to carry the cardholder's photograph. And the economics are the RuPay Select's, unchanged: eight domestic lounge visits a year at two a quarter, two international visits, four reward points per ₹100 at ₹0.25 for a straight 1%, ₹10 lakh of accidental cover at NPCI's cost, and a ₹550 fee that is waived in year one and never charged again above ₹50,000 of annual spend. Nobody was given a worse card for being blind, which is the whole thing worth saying about it. The rest of the Union Bank story applies without change. The points redeem for vouchers or against your own statement and nowhere else — no airline, no hotel, no transfer partner on any card this bank issues — so 1% is a ceiling. Forex is 3%. The base credit limit is ₹50,000. And eligibility is genuinely narrow: the bank identifies visually impaired customers from its own CBS records, so this is not a card you can simply apply for. If you qualify, it is the best ₹550 on the public-sector shelf. Keep.

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.

₹50,000 annual spend erases that fee

₹550/yr at stake · 5 spend bands

The charge ₹550/yr

The waiver ₹50,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹4,167 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.

Break-even ₹5,000 a month — ₹60,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.

At your spend

₹3,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹6,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹12,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹36,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹60,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade

Union Bank of India publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 8 domestic lounge visits a year (2 a quarter) plus 2 international — same as RuPay Select
  • Tactile notch, Braille 'UBI' embossing and an optional cardholder photograph
  • 1% back — 4 points per ₹100 at ₹0.25 — with the fee waived above ₹50,000 of annual spend
  • ₹10 lakh of accidental cover at NPCI's cost, ₹30 lakh more if you pay for it
  • Up to 3 add-on cards for spouse, children and parents

Watch out

  • Only visually impaired customers are eligible, identified from Union Bank's own CBS records
  • Union Rewardz has NO airline or hotel partner — the points only pay your own bill
  • 3% forex, on a card that hands you two international lounge visits
  • Base credit limit is ₹50,000
  • Sparsh is absent from the shelf MITC's fee grid — the fee exists only on its own page

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes Union Rewardz Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?

not published — and we say which

₹50,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹550 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.

Not published. Union Bank of India states what the Union Sparsh earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹50,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

The fine print

7 of 7 MITC rows published

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.

Forex markup 3% + GST
APR 3.00%/mo (36%/yr) on retail; 2.5%/mo (30%/yr) on cash
Late fee ₹200 on dues up to ₹25,000; ₹500 above ₹25,000
Cash advance 3% of the advance, min ₹500
Add-on card Not published for Sparsh; up to 3 add-ons are allowed
Overlimit 2.5% of the overlimit amount, min ₹250
Redemption fee Not published

Sparsh is ABSENT from the MITC's fee grid — the fee lives only on its own product page (joining NIL, ₹550 + GST annual, waived in year one and above ₹50,000 of previous-year spend), and the page settles the rest by reference: "All other charges, insurance, fees & fuel surcharge waiver, are same as that for RuPay select variant." So every figure here is the shelf-wide MITC (version 1.4, effective 25 Sep 2025) that RuPay Select carries. Eligibility is the binding filter: only visually impaired customers, identified from Union Bank's own CBS records under the CRM module, and the base credit limit is ₹50,000. CIBIL 700+ unless issued against a deposit lien.
