What it's worth to you, after the fee
Read the ₹0.4L figure carefully: ₹6,000 of its ₹6,000 gross is a voucher or a hotel night, not points — worth that only if you would have bought it anyway.
Welcome: White Pass value of ₹1,500 on spending ₹30,000 within 60 days of card set-up
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹34,000 a month
At ₹34,000 a month — ₹4,08,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹6,000 gross (earn ₹0 + milestones ₹6,000) against its ₹3,000 fee = ₹3,000 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #117
Why #117 Tempered about seventy places DOWN from its computed score, and deliberately. The value model reads a ₹27,000 milestone ladder against a ₹3,000 fee and likes it — but it cannot see that every rupee of that ladder needs ₹12 lakh of qualifying spend in one anniversary year, with transportation and education struck out of the count since 1 April 2026, and that the lounge quota underneath it now needs ₹1,00,000 a quarter to unlock. Price this card at the spend a real holder does, not at the top tier, and it is a Priority Pass membership with a bonus attached. It sits directly above the White Reserve because that is the comparison a reader actually makes.
The White earns nothing on individual transactions. All value is White Pass, granted only at anniversary-year spend milestones and redeemed as brand vouchers at a fixed ₹1 a pass through kotakbankwhite.com (₹0.70 as cashback). That is why the headline reward rate reads 0% — and why the milestone grid is the only number on this card worth doing arithmetic on. Since 1 April 2026 spends on transportation and education MCCs do not count toward it.
The take
The White is the ₹3,000 door into Kotak's White programme, and it buys exactly two things: a Priority Pass membership worth US$99 with four free international visits a year, and a milestone ladder that pays brand vouchers — ₹2,000 at ₹2 lakh of annual spend, climbing to a cumulative ₹27,000 at ₹12 lakh. Nothing else accrues. There are no points per swipe, no category multipliers, no transfer partners; the card is a spend meter attached to a lounge pass. Read the ladder honestly and it pays 2.25% at ₹12 lakh, 1% at ₹4 lakh, and the fee waives at ₹5 lakh — so this is a card for someone who already puts ₹1 lakh a month through one plastic and wants a lounge on top. Then read the two changes Kotak made on 1 April 2026, because both cut: the domestic lounge quota now needs ₹1,00,000 of spend in the previous calendar quarter to unlock, and transportation and education spends no longer count toward the milestones that ARE the reward. At 3.5% forex it is also not the card you take abroad — ironic, for the one that hands you the Priority Pass.

Keep, downgrade or cancel
₹3,000/yr at stake · 5 spend bands
The charge ₹3,000/yr
The waiver ₹5,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹41,667 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹34,000 a month — ₹4,08,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee.

The downgrade
Kotak Mahindra Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What's good
- Priority Pass membership worth US$99 with 4 free international lounge visits a year
- 8 domestic lounge visits a year (2 a quarter) — but see the ₹1 lakh quarterly spend gate
- White Pass milestones: ₹2,000 at ₹2L, cumulative ₹27,000 at ₹12L, redeemed as vouchers at ₹1 a pass
- ₹3,000 fee waives at ₹5 lakh of annual retail spend — or free while you hold the linked programme
Watch out
- Zero everyday earn — nothing accrues per swipe, only at annual spend milestones
- Domestic lounge visits are spend-gated since 1 April 2026: ₹1,00,000 in a calendar quarter unlocks 2 visits the NEXT quarter, and comparison sites still print an unconditional 8 a year
- Transportation and education spends stopped counting toward the White Pass milestones on 1 April 2026 — the same notice, the same day
- 3.5% forex markup: the card hands you a Priority Pass and then charges you full freight to use it abroad
- White Pass resets to zero every anniversary with a 90-day claim tail — a pass earned late is worth weeks, not a year
- Complimentary visits are primary-cardholder only; guests and post-quota visits are US$35 each
- The fee waiver is programme-linked as well as spend-linked — a downgrade out of Privy League or Corporate Salary re-imposes both fees
- You may hold only one active White or White Reserve card, and White Pass is withheld if you hold both
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Kotak White Pass into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹5,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹3,000 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. Kotak Mahindra Bank states what the Kotak White earns, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver and the milestones — the ₹5,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

income, age and the route in
The cutoffs and the actual route in — not the "apply now" button, the door that opens.
Direct application — no invite list, no banking relationship required.
The White is programme-linked, not invitation-only: Kotak sources it off a Privy League, Private Banking or Corporate Salary relationship, and the published bar is income of ₹25 lakh a year, age 28 to 60, and residence in one of nine metros — Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi (with Gurgaon and Noida), Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. Hold the programme and both fees waive outright; lose it and Kotak bills the ₹3,000 joining and annual charge, which is the trap in the small print. Above this sits the ₹12,500 White Reserve, which has a public Apply Now and no programme gate at all — an unusual shape where the more expensive card is the easier one to get.

The fine print
7 of 7 MITC rows published
What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
RCAS fee table verbatim: "White | ₹ 3,000 | ₹ 3,000 | NA | Minimum retail spends of ₹5 lac in a year | Waived" — joining and renewal are the same ₹3,000, so there is no separate commencement charge, and the annual fee goes only on ₹5 lakh of retail spend. NAMING TRAP: the fee table and the MCC register call this card "Kotak White"; the interest and special-category threshold tables call it "White Signature". Same card, three names, and it is a different product from White RESERVE at ₹12,500. Special-category transaction fees bite harder here than anywhere else in the range — rent is charged at 2% + GST, not the 1% every other Kotak card pays, and White is named for that double rate alongside 811 Super Money and Dream Different. Utility spends carry 1% past ₹75,000 a statement cycle and fuel 1% past ₹50,000, both the most generous thresholds Kotak publishes. Wallet loading 1% past ₹10,000 a cycle; online skill-based gaming the same; education payments made through third-party apps 1% flat.

- 30 Sept 2026Dream Different's unredeemed reward points expire after 30 September 2026Reward points accrued on the Dream Different Credit Card up to 31 March 2026 sitting in the account with no stated expiry date → A hard forfeiture date — "After 30th September, 2026, any unredeemed Reward Points will automatically expire"
The second half of the note that closed the programme is the part holders can still act on. Kotak's cardholder agreement gives every Dream Different point accrued up to 31 March 2026 a six-month redemption window that shuts on 30 September 2026, after which unredeemed points are forfeited outright. At the agreement's own conversion rate of 25 paise per point, a year of the card's headline 4-points-per-₹100 online earn on ₹1 lakh of online spend is roughly 4,000 points, about ₹1,000 — small money, but money that becomes zero on 1 October. Points redeem against the Kotak catalogue (flights, hotels, vouchers, merchandise) or as a statement credit through the rewards portal or the contact centre, each with its own minimum, so a last-week redemption risks missing the date on processing alone.
