What it's worth to you, after the fee

Welcome: "Welcome benefits worth ₹5,000" — DCB will only say it is "a combination of discounts, vouchers, and promotional benefits", with nothing itemised.

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. Everything we can source — the fee, the charges, the migration that put this card in your hand — is above and stands on its own; this card is simply not on the board, not in the calculator, and cannot win a best-of call until DCB Bank publishes terms we can cite.

RuPay — Platinum tier, named in the KFS fee table as "DCB novio Credit Card (Rupay Platinum)". UPI-linkable — DCB's page says "seamless UPI payments on platforms such novio App, PhonePe, and Google Pay".

Why #412 A ₹2,000 deposit is the lowest door to a credit card anywhere on this board, and the card costs nothing to hold — but it opens no lounge, and DCB publishes no rate for its coins, so there is nothing here to value. It is a credit-file starter, ranked as one.

The take

The Platinum variant of DCB's novio card exists for one job: getting a credit card to somebody a bank would otherwise not touch. The deposit floor is ₹2,000 — two thousand rupees, the lowest door on this board — there is no income proof and no credit check, the card is lifetime free on both fee lines, and the deposit keeps earning up to 7% while it is pledged. Below ₹10,000 of deposit you get a virtual card only; from ₹10,000 the physical card is free. Understand what it is not. The MITC's lounge table gives the Platinum variant a dash in both columns — no domestic visits, no international ones; that entitlement belongs to the Select variant at ₹25,000. The rewards are novioCoins on a quarterly spend milestone, and neither DCB nor novio publishes a rate for them, so this desk prints none. Foreign spend costs 2.5%, and closing the card inside a year costs ₹599, which is a lot on a card whose whole credit line might be ₹1,800. Take it to build a file cheaply, then graduate — to the Select variant for the lounge, or off DCB entirely once a bank will give you an unsecured card.

Keep, downgrade or cancel

what we can and cannot price

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. A break-even is the spend at which value crosses a fee, and we are short one side of that sentence — so this desk prints no ladder, no crossing and no ₹0 standing in for either. What we can source about this card is under Sources.

The downgrade

DCB Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and we cannot price either side of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • The lowest entry price on the board — a ₹2,000 fixed deposit, which stays yours and earns up to 7% p.a.
  • Genuinely lifetime free — the KFS reads Nil joining and Nil annual for both novio variants
  • No income proof and no credit history; a virtual card is issued on approval
  • 2.5% foreign-currency markup, a point below the 3.5% Indian norm
  • Free physical card once the cumulative deposit reaches ₹10,000
  • 1% fuel-surcharge waiver up to ₹100 a statement cycle on fuel transactions up to ₹5,000

Watch out

  • NO LOUNGE ACCESS — the MITC's lounge table prints a dash against the Platinum variant in both the domestic and the international column. The four visits belong to the Select variant
  • NOBODY PUBLISHES A COIN RATE — the MITC's rewards table is an image, the FAQ offers only an unquantified "up to" claim on UPI spend, and no ₹-per-novioCoin exists anywhere
  • novioCoins redeem only as discounts at partner merchants inside the novio app — no transfers, no statement credit, no cash
  • Rewards are a QUARTERLY SPEND MILESTONE, not a per-swipe rate; rent, wallet loads, gaming, gambling, fuel and cash are excluded
  • Below a ₹10,000 deposit you get a virtual card only; a physical card is chargeable on request
  • ₹599 to close the card within a year — steep against a credit line that starts at ₹1,800
  • 36% a year (3% a month) on revolving credit; ₹500 late fee above ₹1,000 outstanding
  • ATM cash costs 2.5% or ₹299, whichever is higher

What these points actually fly

DCB Bank has not published what this card earns, so there are no points here to fly with — not zero points, and not points that go nowhere: nothing stated either way. The moment a benefit sheet exists we will price whatever it names.

No income proof, no credit history, no branch. Download the novio app, apply for the DCB novio Credit Card, book a DCB fixed deposit inside the app and confirm the embossing name, nominee and delivery address. The variant is decided by the deposit, not by you: DCB's own table gives Platinum to deposits of ₹2,000–₹24,999 and Select from ₹25,000 up. Under ₹10,000 the card is virtual-only; at ₹10,000 and above a physical card ships free in five to seven working days. The credit limit is 90% of the pledged deposit, and topping up the FD in the app raises it, up to ₹10 lakh of deposit.

The fine print

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.

Forex markup 2.5% of the transaction value, plus GST
APR 3%/mo (36% annualised)
Late fee Nil ≤₹100; ₹100 (₹101–1,000); ₹500 (>₹1,000)
Cash advance 2.5% of the transaction value, plus an ATM withdrawal fee of 2.5% or ₹299, whichever is higher; cash is capped at 50% of the limit or ₹1,00,000, whichever is lower
Add-on card not published
Overlimit not published
Redemption fee not published

FEE COLUMNS: the KFS table is headed "Joining Fee / Annual Fee" and names both variants in separate rows — "DCB novio Credit Card (Rupay Platinum) Nil Nil" and "(Rupay Select) Nil Nil". Genuinely lifetime free, both variants. The VARIANT IS DECIDED BY THE DEPOSIT, not by the applicant: ₹2,000–₹9,999 gets Platinum with a virtual card only, ₹10,000–₹24,999 gets Platinum with a free physical card, ₹25,000 and above gets Select. Credit limit 90% of the pledged deposit; the deposit earns up to 7% p.a. while pledged and can be topped up to ₹10 lakh. NO LOUNGE ACCESS ON THIS VARIANT — the MITC's section-11 lounge table prints a dash against "DCB novio Credit Card – Platinum Variant" in both the domestic and the international column. REWARD RATE UNPUBLISHED: the MITC's section 10, "Rewards on DCB Novio Credit Card", is an IMAGE with no extractable text; the surrounding prose says only that "The rewards program is powered by novio" and that "Rewards will be given in the first month of the next Quarter on achieving the above mentioned spend based milestone", and the FAQ manages "up to 10% rewards on UPI transactions, as per applicable terms". novioCoins redeem as merchant discounts (Amazon, Flipkart, Domino's) inside the novio app; no ₹-per-coin is published anywhere, which is why the card carries the absent (unpublished) earn rate. Exclusions from the reward count: rent, wallet loading, online gaming, gambling, fuel and cash withdrawal. 1% fuel-surcharge waiver up to ₹100 a statement cycle on fuel up to ₹5,000, with utilities, railways, insurance, gift/securities and broker MCCs excluded. Reissue and replacement ₹250 each. Closure ₹599 within a year. Welcome "benefits worth ₹5,000" are never itemised by DCB.
