Samsung Axis Bank Infinite
DowngradeThe best Samsung discount in India, wearing a travel card's clothes.
Samsung Axis Infinite sits in the "other eligible cards" bucket of the Axis Points/Miles Transfer table — 20 EDGE Reward Points = 1 partner mile (10:1 to ITC, SpiceJet and AirAsia), an eighth of what Magnus and Reserve get at 5:2. The portal at ₹0.20 a point is the only sane exit, and Axis charges ₹99 a redemption and ₹199 a transfer on top. Our 1.0% prices the ₹0.20 in; the ₹0.40 EDGE house value does not apply to this card.

The take
Nobody bought this for the miles, and Axis knows it: 10% back on Samsung purchases, capped at ₹5,000 a month and ₹20,000 a year, is worth the entire ₹5,000 fee on a single phone. What the ₹5,000 does NOT buy is a travel card. The everyday earn is 5 EDGE Reward Points per ₹100 — 1% at the ₹0.20 Axis itself uses in the card's value chart — and the exclusion list is brutal: fuel, rent, utilities, telecom, insurance, education, government, gold, wallet loads and Samsung purchases themselves all earn zero. The 15-point tier on bigbasket, Zomato, Myntra, Tata 1mg and Urban Company plus all international spend is a real 3%, and eight domestic lounge visits plus a full Priority Pass membership with six international visits is a genuinely premium access stack for the money. But the points are the worst EDGE Reward Points Axis issues: this card transfers at 20 points to 1 partner mile, so a KrisFlyer seat is off the table and the portal is your only door. Axis has also closed the card to new applications and now routes applicants to the ₹500 Samsung Signature. Hold it for the Samsung cashback and the lounges; earn your miles on an Atlas.
What's good
- 10% cashback on Samsung purchases including EMI — ₹5,000/month, ₹20,000/year cap pays the fee outright
- 15 EDGE Reward Points per ₹100 (~3%) on bigbasket, Zomato, Myntra, Tata 1mg, Urban Company AND all international spend
- 8 domestic lounge visits a year plus a full Priority Pass membership with 6 international visits
- 30,000-point welcome (₹6,000) for three transactions in the first 30 days; complimentary EazyDiner Prime
Watch out
- CLOSED to new applications — Axis redirects applicants to the ₹500 Samsung Axis Signature
- Worst transfer bucket Axis runs: 20 EDGE Reward Points = 1 partner mile (10:1 to ITC/SpiceJet/AirAsia)
- Fuel, rent, utilities, telecom, insurance, education, government, gold, wallet loads and Samsung spends earn ZERO points
- 3.5% forex plus a 1.5% dynamic-currency markup; ₹99 per redemption and ₹199 per partner transfer
- ₹5,000 fee waives only at ₹7,00,000 of preceding-year spend; lounge access needs ₹50,000 in the prior 3 months

The cutoffs and the actual route in — not the "apply now" button, the door that opens.
Closed to new applications — existing cardholders keep the card; there is no way in.
You can't, any more. Axis's own product page carries the notice: "We are currently not accepting applications for SAMSUNG AXIS BANK INFINITE Credit Card", and points applicants at the ₹500 Samsung Axis Bank Signature instead. Existing holders keep the construct — the card is still listed in Axis's Set B lounge program and in the current Key Fact Sheet at ₹5,000 — but the only way in now is an upgrade offer from Axis on the Signature variant.

The fine print
What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
CLOSED TO NEW APPLICATIONS — Axis's product page redirects applicants to the ₹500 Samsung Axis Bank Signature; existing holders keep the construct. Joining ₹5,000 and annual ₹5,000, waived at ₹7,00,000 of preceding-year spend. Fuel surcharge refunded on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹500 per statement cycle. 1% rent transaction fee (MCC 6513), 1% on education payments via third-party apps, and 1% on cumulative statement-cycle spends above ₹10,000 on wallet loads, ₹50,000 on fuel, ₹25,000 on utilities and ₹10,000 on skill-based gaming. Sits in Axis's worst transfer bucket at 20 EDGE Reward Points to 1 partner mile.

- 10 Jul 2026BluChip ↔ Accor ALL ratios surface — 6:1 in, 3:2 out, live 13 JulyCorridor announced Apr 2025; no ratios published for 15 months → 6,000 BluChips → 1,000 ALL points (6:1); 3,000 ALL → 2,000 BluChips (3:2); live 13 Jul 2026
India's first airline↔hotel points corridor finally has numbers: ratios spotted on the Accor ALL site ahead of the 13 July joint launch. 6,000 BluChips buy 1,000 ALL points — a respectable 60% of value retained at house values, making Accor the best BluChip exit that isn't an IndiGo seat. The reverse leg (3,000 ALL → 2,000 BluChips) torches 81% of ALL's fixed stay value; use it never. And the fantasy of resurrecting the dead Axis EDGE→Accor route through BluChips dies at this ratio: even inside Axis's intro window the chain recovers just 30%.
- 1 Jul 2026Axis waives Magnus and Horizon fees for new Burgundy customersMagnus ₹12,500 + GST and Horizon ₹3,000 + GST joining/annual fees, waived only on spend milestones → From 1 Jul 2026: joining + annual fee waived outright for Burgundy account holders opening on/after that date
A rare buff in a year of clawbacks. From 1 July 2026 Axis waives both the joining and annual fee on the Magnus (₹12,500 + GST) and Horizon (₹3,000 + GST) for customers who open a Burgundy account on or after that date — no ₹25 lakh spend milestone to chase. The catch is the fence: it's for new Burgundy relationships, not existing Magnus/Horizon holders, whose usual spend-based waiver conditions are unchanged. Still, for an Axis private-banking client it turns a post-devaluation Magnus into a genuinely free card to hold — the transfer firepower is diminished, but at ₹0 carrying cost the maths reads very differently.
- 30 Jun 2026Amex India cuts Etihad Guest as an MR transfer partnerMR points transferable to Etihad Guest Miles → Etihad Guest transfer route closed for good
Membership Rewards points could move to Etihad Guest only until 30 June 2026, 11:59 PM IST — after that the route is dead, part of a global Amex-Etihad wind-down already hitting the UK, US, Canada and Germany. Neither side explained why, but Etihad's generous Etihad Guest sweet spots (especially A380 First redemptions) were a favourite MR outlet for Indian cardholders, and this closes one of the better ones with no replacement announced. Points already transferred are unaffected — only future transfers stop.
- 18 Jun 2026Axis adds IndiGo BluChip to the EDGE transfer rosterNo IndiGo route from EDGE Miles or Reward Points → Group B: Miles 2:1, points 5:1 (intro 2x better till 17 Aug)
Two months after gutting the partner list, Axis adds one back: IndiGo BluChip, at the new-partner ratios (1:2 intro on Miles until 17 August 2026, then 2:1; points 5:2 intro, then 5:1). Lifetime-valid BluChips on India's biggest airline is genuinely useful — at the intro ratio. After that, do the maths before you move anything.
- 1 Jun 2026AU, YES and IndusInd points open transfers to Maharaja ClubAU/YES/IndusInd points locked in closed loops → Maharaja routes: IndusInd Tiger 1:1 (Pinnacle 2:1, Legend 4:1); AU Zenith+ 3:2, other AU cards 6:1; YES Marquee/Reserv 15:1
Three banks joined Air India's transfer roster at once — and the ratios are the whole story. The lifetime-free IndusInd Tiger gets the only honest 1:1 (capped 25k/month); AU Zenith+ lands a genuinely good 3:2 that triples what AU points were worth; everything else — Pinnacle 2:1, Legend 4:1, the AU 6:1 crowd, YES at a punitive 15:1 — is a decoy dressed as a partnership.
- 12 Apr 2026Airtel Axis card loses its 4 lounge visits in a brutal reset4 complimentary domestic lounge visits + flat monthly cashback caps → From 12 Apr 2026: domestic lounge access removed; cashback caps tied to prior spend, Swiggy/Zomato/BigBasket earn dropped
Axis took a scalpel to the Airtel co-brand on 12 April 2026, and lounge access was first to go — all four complimentary domestic visits gone. The cashback engine got worse too: category caps now scale with base spend (you'd have to spend ₹12,500 just to unlock the full ₹250 Airtel cashback), and the 10% on Swiggy, Zomato and BigBasket was cut to a ₹200/month 'value back' into partner wallets on Zomato, Blinkit and District. A utility card, sure — but it was also a cheap lounge key for a lot of wallets, and that key just stopped turning.
- 2 Apr 2026Axis purges Marriott, Accor and Qatar from its transfer list overnightMarriott, Accor, Qatar Airways at Group A ratios → All three gone; BA, Finnair, Vietnam Airlines added at 2:1
With zero advance notice — despite Axis's own MITC requiring 30 days — EDGE Miles/Rewards cardholders woke up on 2 April 2026 to find Marriott Bonvoy, Accor Live Limitless and Qatar Airways Privilege Club stripped from the transfer partner list. The three replacements (British Airways Executive Club, Finnair Plus, Vietnam Airlines LotusSmiles) land in the worst tier: 2:1 on Atlas instead of the usual 1:2, and 5:1 on Magnus/Reserve instead of 5:2 — so you need up to 4x the points for the same miles. This guts Atlas and Magnus's best hotel-transfer sweet spots in one stroke and pushes the whole EDGE ecosystem toward airline-only redemptions.
- 1 Apr 2026Maharaja Club gets cheaper awards and faster creditingHigher award costs; slow points crediting → Domestic awards from 1,500 pts; credited within 2 hours
A rare buff. Air India's post-merger programme drops domestic award flights to 1,500 points, cabin upgrades to 4,000, credits Star Alliance miles within two hours, and eases Platinum to 60 flights. The transfer target Indian card geeks care about actually got better.
