No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹10,000 a month

At ₹10,000 a month — ₹1,20,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹9,600 gross (earn ₹0 + bonuses ₹9,600) against its ₹999 fee = ₹8,600 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

The take

PVR Kotak Platinum is the top of the pre-merger PVR range and the arithmetic is blunt: two tickets, worth ₹400 each by Kotak's own valuation, on ₹10,000 of billed spend in a cycle. That is ₹800 a month against a ₹999 annual fee with no waiver at any spend, so a single qualifying month covers the year. There is no per-swipe earn at all — this card is not on Kotak's Reward Points Program list — and the ticket table has no step above ₹10,000, which is the difference that matters. Because of that ceiling, spending more does nothing. The Gold tier below pays ₹400 at the same ₹10,000 and ₹800 at ₹15,000, so Platinum is worth exactly ₹400 a month more for ₹500 more in fee. And the newer PVR INOX card, at ₹499 a year, keeps awarding a ₹300 ticket for every ₹10,000 without a cap — ten of them at ₹1,05,000 of monthly spend, where Platinum is still stuck at two. Above about ₹27,000 of monthly spend the cheaper, newer card pays more. Kotak resolves no product page for this tier, but the Key Fact Statement and the 31 July 2026 schedule of charges both price it, so the closed base is being serviced.

The downgrade

Kotak Mahindra Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 2 PVR tickets worth ₹400 each at ₹10,000 of billed spend in a cycle — ₹800 a month
  • Nil joining fee
  • One qualifying month covers most of the ₹999 annual fee

Watch out

  • The ticket table has no step above ₹10,000 — spending more earns nothing more
  • No per-swipe earn whatsoever: the card is absent from Kotak's Reward Points Program list
  • Above roughly ₹27,000 of monthly spend the newer, cheaper PVR INOX card pays more
  • The ₹999 annual fee has no spend waiver: the Key Fact Statement prints NA in both waiver columns
  • Utility, education, wallet loads, rent and online gaming do not count toward the milestone since 1-Jun-2025
  • Kotak resolves no product page for this tier; only the all-cards grid, the Key Fact Statement and the schedule of charges name it
  • CLOSED to new applications — Kotak's own all-cards grid stamps this tile "Discontinued for new applications" (read 2026-08-23). Existing holders keep the card; there is no way in.
  • Tickets must be claimed within two monthly billing cycles and expire 60 days after claiming
  • No lounge access of any kind

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes Statement cashback (₹) into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Dream Different's unredeemed reward points expire after 30 September 2026
Reward points accrued on the Dream Different Credit Card up to 31 March 2026 sitting in the account with no stated expiry date → A hard forfeiture date — "After 30th September, 2026, any unredeemed Reward Points will automatically expire"

The second half of the note that closed the programme is the part holders can still act on. Kotak's cardholder agreement gives every Dream Different point accrued up to 31 March 2026 a six-month redemption window that shuts on 30 September 2026, after which unredeemed points are forfeited outright. At the agreement's own conversion rate of 25 paise per point, a year of the card's headline 4-points-per-₹100 online earn on ₹1 lakh of online spend is roughly 4,000 points, about ₹1,000 — small money, but money that becomes zero on 1 October. Points redeem against the Kotak catalogue (flights, hotels, vouchers, merchandise) or as a statement credit through the rewards portal or the contact centre, each with its own minimum, so a last-week redemption risks missing the date on processing alone.
