What it's worth to you, after the fee

Welcome: 300+ Reward Points on first usage, per PNB's product page

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. Everything we can source — the fee, the charges, the migration that put this card in your hand — is above and stands on its own; this card is simply not on the board, not in the calculator, and cannot win a best-of call until Punjab National Bank publishes terms we can cite.

RuPay

Why #669 Carried, not priced. The defence Select — free to get where the civilian twin costs ₹500, with the same unquantified lounge claim and an earn table that still has no Rakshak row.

The take

This is the upper rung of PNB's defence pair, and the reason to look at it is one line on the product page the Rakshak Platinum below it does not carry: "Complimentary Domestic and international Lounge Program". That claim is why the card is here — a reader searching this name wants exactly that fact — and it is also where PNB stops. No visit count, no guest policy, no lounge network appears on the page, in the Key Fact Statement, in the MITC or in the bank's Credit Card Business Policy circular, so the door is real and unmeasurable, and we will not size it by assuming RuPay Select's programme applies. The pricing is genuinely attractive and genuinely documented: PNB's MITC gives "RUPAY RAKSHAK SELECT" its own row at Nil joining and ₹750 a year, waived if the card is used once a quarter — where the same table charges the civilian RuPay Select a real fee just to get in. The credit-limit band is its own too, ₹50,000 to ₹10 lakh. The gate is the bank's own wording: target customers are the "Customer categories covered under Rakshak Plus Scheme", PNB's defence salary and pension package. What is missing is the rate. The page promises "2X rewards points on retail merchandise" and PNB never publishes what one times is for this variant — its only per-variant earn table lists seven variants by BIN and skips Rakshak entirely. So: near-free, lounge-claiming, and unpriced, which is a fair trade for someone already inside the gate.

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

There is no renewal arithmetic to run on this card yet — and a break-even we cannot source is not one we will print.

Keep, downgrade or cancel

what we can and cannot price

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described. A break-even is the spend at which value crosses a fee, and we are short one side of that sentence — so this desk prints no ladder, no crossing and no ₹0 standing in for either. What we can source about this card is under Sources.

The downgrade

Punjab National Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and we cannot price either side of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • Complimentary domestic and international lounge access is claimed on PNB's own product page
  • Nil joining fee — PNB's MITC charges the civilian RuPay Select a real one for the same chassis
  • ₹750 annual fee waived outright if the card is used once in each quarter of the preceding year
  • Its own credit-limit band in PNB's Key Fact Statement, ₹50,000 to ₹10 lakh
  • 300+ Reward Points on first usage, and a doubled multiplier on retail merchandise
  • Cashback on utility bills, eateries and restaurants; comprehensive insurance cover; 24/7 concierge

Watch out

  • The lounge claim has no stated visit count, guest policy or network anywhere PNB writes about this card — do not treat it as a quantified quota
  • Profession-gated: PNB issues it to the customer categories covered by its Rakshak Plus defence scheme
  • PNB's per-variant earn table names seven variants by BIN and has no Rakshak row, so no reward rate is printed here
  • The retail multiplier doubles a number PNB has never published for this variant
  • 3.5% forex markup — PNB's bank-wide schedule exempts only the LUXURA metal cards
  • Reward Points expire three years from the date of accrual

What these points actually fly

Punjab National Bank has not published what this card earns, so there are no points here to fly with — not zero points, and not points that go nowhere: nothing stated either way. The moment a benefit sheet exists we will price whatever it names.

Not confirmed on sale — the issuer still documents this card but we could not confirm it is open to new applications. Treat any application path with care.

Only through PNB's Rakshak Plus scheme. The bank's Credit Card Business Policy circular gives both Rakshak variants one shared line under Target Customers — "Customer categories covered under Rakshak Plus Scheme" — which is PNB's defence salary and pension package for serving and retired personnel of the armed forces and allied services. Everyone else is directed to the civilian RuPay Select, the same chassis with a joining fee attached.

Punjab National Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.
