Welcome: 300 Reward Points on a first retail or online transaction within 90 days of receiving the card

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹17,000 a month

At ₹17,000 a month — ₹2,04,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹500 gross (earn ₹500) against its ₹500 fee = ₹0 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

The take

RuPay Platinum is the one PNB card where "lifetime-free" is not a stretch: PNB's own Key Fact Statement lists the joining fee as a flat Nil, and the ₹500 annual fee is waived every year the card sees one transaction a quarter — a bar any active holder clears. That makes it the cheapest lounge-claiming card on PNB's shelf, and it does claim a lounge: "Complimentary Domestic and International lounge" sits on the product page next to cashback on utility bills and restaurants and 24/7 concierge. As with every other card on this nine-bullet page family, PNB does not publish a visit count, a guest policy or the lounge network behind that claim. The earn rate IS published, just not on this page — PNB's Rewardz programme page names the variant by its BIN and gives it 1 point per ₹100, which at the ₹0.25 PNB's own MITC assigns a point is a flat 0.25%. No forex markup is disclosed on the card's own page either (the bank-wide fee schedule puts it at the standard 3.5%, same as every non-LUXURA PNB card). Take it as a free-to-hold, unquantified lounge door with a quarter-percent floor under it.

The downgrade

Punjab National Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • Genuinely lifetime-free — Nil joining fee, ₹500 annual fee waived on one transaction a quarter
  • Complimentary domestic and international lounge access is claimed on PNB's own product page
  • 1 Reward Point per ₹100 (0.25% at ₹0.25 a point), plus 300 points on a first transaction within 90 days

Watch out

  • The earn rate is on PNB's Rewardz programme page, not the card's own page — which lists nine bullets and no rate at all
  • 3.5% forex markup applies (PNB's bank-wide fee schedule; this is not the nil-forex LUXURA)
  • The lounge claim has no stated visit count — do not assume it behaves like a quantified quota

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes PNB Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't

2 sourced rules · 1 pay zero

PNB publishes NO merchant-category exclusion list for any card on its shelf — not on the product pages, not in the Key Fact Statement, not in the MITC, which mentions merchant categories only to reserve the bank's right to BLOCK a card transacting on restricted MCCs. So this row states the two deviations PNB does document and nothing else; every other category answers "not published" rather than a guess.

The fine print

7 of 7 MITC rows published

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.

Forex markup 3.5% over and above the currency conversion rate — PNB's nil-markup carve-out names only the two LUXURA metal cards
APR 2.95%/mo (35.89%/yr); 1.5%/mo (19.56%/yr) on a card issued against a PNB fixed-deposit lien
Late fee Slabbed on the total amount due: Nil up to ₹1,000; ₹500 on ₹1,001–₹5,000; ₹600 on ₹5,001–₹10,000; ₹750 above ₹10,000
Cash advance 2% of the amount, min ₹100 at PNB ATMs / ₹150 at other ATMs / ₹250 overseas
Add-on card Nil — joining and annual, on every add-on card
Overlimit 2.5% of the overlimit amount, min ₹500 (min ₹250 on a card issued against a fixed deposit)
Redemption fee None published — but a redemption needs at least 1,000 points, and points expire 3 years from the date of accrual

Nil joining fee and a ₹500 annual fee waived in any year the card sees one transaction a quarter — which makes this genuinely lifetime-free for an active holder, and the cheapest lounge-claiming card on PNB's shelf. PNB's Rewardz programme page states the earn RBL-style by variant: RuPay Platinum earns 1 point per ₹100, plus 300 points for a first retail or online transaction within 90 days of receiving the card. THE NUMBER THAT DISAGREES WITH ITSELF: the MITC says "Presently the Value of 1 reward point is 25 paise", while pnbcard.in/rewards.html says "1 (One) Reward Point is worth INR 0.50 (50 paise)". This desk prices PNB points at ₹0.25 — the MITC is the regulatory document and the one PNB uses to convert a negative point balance to a statement debit. Interest-free period 20–50 days, minimum amount due 5% of the total, cash-advance limit 20% of the credit limit. Fuel surcharge waiver 1% (min ₹12.50) on single fills above ₹500 and below ₹4,000, capped ₹250 a billing cycle. PNB publishes no income or age criterion on this card's own page.
