What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: 5% cashback up to ₹1,000 on your first EMI transaction within 30 days of card generation — that's the whole welcome; there is no points bonus
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee
At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹100 gross (earn ₹100) against its ₹0 fee = ₹100 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #88
Why #88 A secured, lifetime-free card ranks this high on one fact a travel desk cares about: 0% forex. It earns almost nothing, but it costs nothing forever, and a reader with no credit file can actually get it. Not the ONLY such card on this board — Niyo's SBM card opens the same door for a ₹5,000 deposit against this one's ₹20,000 — but it lends 100% of the FD where Niyo lends 90%, and it earns something where Niyo earns nothing abroad.
Our joint #1 for Forex (15 cards level) — 1 of the 23 questions this desk ranks.
WOW! redeems the IDFC point at a flat ₹0.25 — the house value exactly, with no ₹0.50 app-travel rung (that one belongs to WOW! Black). Points also die at 24 months and cost ₹99 + GST to redeem.
The take
WOW! is the cheapest genuinely useful travel card in India, and the trick is that it isn't underwritten on your salary at all — it's secured against an IDFC fixed deposit from ₹20,000, your credit limit is 100% of that deposit, and the FD keeps earning interest while you spend. No income proof, no credit history, ages 18 to 80, approval assured. What that buys is a 0% forex markup on a Visa Infinite that costs nothing, ever: no joining fee, no annual fee, no minimum-spend hoop. Lifetime-free at a true zero markup is no longer a category of one — ixigo AU, Scapia and Niyo's SBM card all clear the same bar, and we rank all four — but WOW! is the one that asks nothing of your credit file and still hands over a Visa Infinite, which is why it stays the standing answer to "which card do I take abroad". Cash abroad is ₹199 flat and interest-free for 45 days, up to the full value of your FD. Now the honesty: the earn is 0.5% — 4 points per ₹200 at ₹0.25 a point — there is no lounge access at all (that's the ₹750 WOW! Black), and the points expire in 24 months. Buy it as a forex instrument and a credit-file starter, not as a rewards card.

The downgrade
IDFC FIRST Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- 0% forex markup on a lifetime-free Visa Infinite — no income proof and no credit file asked for
- FD-backed from ₹20,000: no income proof, no credit history, assured approval, age 18+
- Credit limit = 100% of your FD, and the FD keeps earning interest while you spend
- 12 RP per ₹100 on app hotel bookings ≈ 3.0% — six times the everyday rate
- Global ATM cash at ₹199 flat, interest-free for 45 days, up to 100% of the FD
Watch out
- 0.5% everyday earn — 4 RP per ₹200 at ₹0.25 a point; this is a forex card, not a rewards engine
- No lounge access whatsoever — the 1 visit/quarter belongs to WOW! Black (₹750 + GST)
- Points expire 24 months after they're credited, and every redemption costs ₹99 + GST
- Your limit is your deposit: rewards stop at the credit limit each billing cycle
- Closed loop — zero airline or hotel transfer partners, like every IDFC card
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes IDFC FIRST Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

12 sourced rules · 2 pay zero
WOW! runs a two-rate card — 4 RP/₹200 on everything that counts, 1 RP/₹200 on four named categories — and nothing published carves out rent, government, education or wallet loads, so those earn at base. Reduced rates are written as "X RP/₹200 vs 4 RP/₹200" because earn.base (1) carries the ₹0.25 redemption haircut while these notes quote raw RP.
- Fuel · excluded Zero RP; 1% surcharge waiver on ₹200–₹5,000 txns, cap ₹200/cycle (the lowest cap IDFC publishes); 1% fee once fuel spends pass ₹30,000/cycle
- Utilities (electricity/water/gas) · reduced 1 RP/₹200 vs the 4 RP/₹200 base ≈ 0.13%; 1% fee once utility spends pass ₹20,000/cycle
- Insurance · reduced 1 RP/₹200 vs the 4 RP/₹200 base ≈ 0.13% (named in the rewards T&C)
- Telecom · reduced Utility-MCC treatment → 1 RP/₹200 vs the 4 RP/₹200 base

The point of WOW! is that there is no gate. It is IDFC's "assured" card: fund a fixed deposit of at least ₹20,000 (₹25,000 for an NRE FD), complete KYC in the app, and the card is issued instantly with a limit equal to 100% of the deposit — no income documents, no CIBIL history, the published age band running 18 to 80. That makes it the standard first card for students, the self-employed and anyone rebuilding a file. It is not the only no-underwriting route to a zero-forex card — Niyo's SBM credit card takes a ₹5,000 FD against this one's ₹20,000 — but Niyo lends 90% of the deposit and publishes no Visa tier, where IDFC lends 100% and names an Infinite. Want more FD, want more limit: link another deposit in the app and the limit moves.

- 9 Sept 2026IDFC FIRST Bank zeroes forex markup on every credit cardA per-card markup table — Nil on a few premium cards, 1% to 3.5% on the rest → NIL on foreign-currency transactions and on dynamic and static currency conversion, bank-wide
IDFC's retail credit-card MITC, re-saved 9 September 2026, replaces the old per-card forex table with one NIL row covering foreign-currency transactions and dynamic and static currency conversion. The commercial and corporate MITCs, re-saved 7 September, print Nil or 0% for the business and corporate cards. Ashva's brochure, re-issued 10 September, says the same and also cuts that card's international earn from 5 reward points per ₹150 to 2X. A widely reported 26 October cut to international reward earning is not in any of those documents, so it is not on the cards. Cards that were already Nil — Mayura, Gaj, WOW, WOW Black, FIRST Private, Diamond Reserve — did not move.
