What it's worth to you, after the fee
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee
At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹0 gross (earn ₹0) against its ₹0 fee = ₹0 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #227
Why #227 Free forever and three points per ₹100 on UPI, which sounds like the best deal on this board until you price the point: Kotak revised it to seven paise in cash on 1 June 2025 and cut seven whole spend categories out of earning on the same day.
This is the cheap end of the Kotak point. The product page prices it at "Every 1,000 Reward Points will be equivalent to ₹100" — ten paise — and since 1 June 2025 the CASH value is seven paise with a 2,000-point minimum, while ten paise survives only for catalogue categories like recharges, shopping and vouchers. `earn.base` bakes that haircut in, so every rate on this card is well under half what the same points-per-₹100 grid pays on a Kotak Infinite.
The take
Kotak's answer to credit-on-UPI is a card that does not physically exist: virtual only, no plastic, no add-on, no cash advance, auto-registered in the mobile app and linked to any UPI app from there. It costs nothing ever — Kotak's own Key Fact Statement prints NA in both fee columns — and it pays 3 Reward Points per ₹100 on UPI scans and on online, e-commerce and international transactions alike, which is more generous than most credit-on-UPI cards, which pay nothing at all below a transaction floor. Then read the 1 June 2025 revision, which is where the product actually lives. Wallet loads, online gaming, insurance, government payments, rent, education and fuel stopped earning altogether. Utility bills earn only up to ₹35,000 a statement cycle. And the cash redemption rate went from ten paise a point to seven, with the minimum doubled to 2,000 points. Ten paise survives for recharges, shopping and vouchers, which is what the 0.3% above is priced at. So: a free card, worth about three-tenths of a percent, on a deliberately narrowed slice of what you spend. Keep it for the convenience of a credit line behind a QR code, not for the rewards.

The downgrade
Kotak Mahindra Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel
What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

- Reward Points expire 24 months after the credit date
- No lounge access of any kind
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Kotak Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
Lifetime free: the KFS prints NA in both the joining and annual fee columns and the product page says "Lifetime Free Card with Zero Joining & Annual Fees". Virtual card only, no plastic issued, so card replacement is NIL. Interest-free period up to 51 days. The 1% category fees are where the cost sits: wallet loads over ₹10,000, fuel over ₹25,000, utilities over ₹35,000 and online skill-based gaming over ₹10,000 a statement cycle, 1% on every rent payment and 1% on education paid through third-party apps — ₹35,000 is also exactly where utility spend stops earning reward points.

- 30 Sept 2026Dream Different's unredeemed reward points expire after 30 September 2026Reward points accrued on the Dream Different Credit Card up to 31 March 2026 sitting in the account with no stated expiry date → A hard forfeiture date — "After 30th September, 2026, any unredeemed Reward Points will automatically expire"
The second half of the note that closed the programme is the part holders can still act on. Kotak's cardholder agreement gives every Dream Different point accrued up to 31 March 2026 a six-month redemption window that shuts on 30 September 2026, after which unredeemed points are forfeited outright. At the agreement's own conversion rate of 25 paise per point, a year of the card's headline 4-points-per-₹100 online earn on ₹1 lakh of online spend is roughly 4,000 points, about ₹1,000 — small money, but money that becomes zero on 1 October. Points redeem against the Kotak catalogue (flights, hotels, vouchers, merchandise) or as a statement credit through the rewards portal or the contact centre, each with its own minimum, so a last-week redemption risks missing the date on processing alone.
