Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — and a business card's accelerator is usually the point. This card is not on the board, which ranks personal cards only; it is ranked against other business cards on /best/business, where the tax, GST and vendor-payment rungs ARE credited and its ₹ reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee

At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹100 gross (earn ₹100) against its ₹0 fee = ₹100 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

HDFC Bank · Visa · entry

Visa — HDFC names the scheme twice on the product page — the lounge offer is scoped to "your Visa Business Platinum Credit Card", and Visa Bill Pay is listed as a card feature.

Why #736 Lifetime free on HDFC's own fee schedule, and it pays in rupees — but the cashback is gated on carrying a statement balance rather than on spending, which is an unusual and slightly uncomfortable design. Withdrawn from sourcing.

₹0 + GST
Annual fee1
None
Fee waiver

The unit is the rupee: HDFC credits this card's benefit as cashback, which "would reflect in the subsequent statement". Note that HDFC's own 15 May 2026 rewards revision also lists a Business Platinum row in its REWARD POINT accrual table, which sits awkwardly beside a product page describing only cashback. The product page is card-specific and current, so it is what this file follows; the discrepancy is recorded in `watchOut`.

The take

Business Platinum is the odd one out on HDFC's withdrawn business shelf, because HDFC's own August 2026 fee schedule prices it at the single word "Free". That makes it a genuinely lifetime-free business card, and everything it pays is upside. What it pays is cashback in rupees, not points — and the gate is unusual enough to read twice. One per cent back on all retail spends requires a minimum statement balance of ₹50,000; half a per cent requires ₹10,000. That is a condition about what you BILL in a cycle, not about what you spend, so a business that pays down aggressively can spend heavily and still land in the lower band. International spends are excluded from both legs and get their own flat 1% instead, on ₹10,000 or more in a statement cycle, which is a rare thing on an Indian card and the most quietly useful line on it. Wallet uploads and fuel earn nothing. Beside the cashback sit a Visa airport-lounge offer at various Indian airports — HDFC links Visa's list rather than naming the lounges — and a fuel surcharge waiver on transactions of ₹400 to ₹5,000 capped at ₹500 a statement cycle, which is double what most cards in this range allow. Two documentation caveats: the card's own fees page claims a ₹299 annual fee in its FAQ, contradicting the bank's fee schedule, and HDFC's 15 May 2026 rewards notice lists this card in a Reward POINT table its product page never mentions. Sourcing has stopped.

The downgrade

HDFC Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • Lifetime free — HDFC's August 2026 Key Fact Statement prices it at the word "Free"
  • 1% cashback on all retail spends when the statement balance is ₹50,000 or more
  • Flat 1% cashback on international spends of ₹10,000 or more in a statement cycle
  • Fuel surcharge waiver on transactions of ₹400 to ₹5,000, capped at ₹500 a statement cycle
  • A Visa airport-lounge offer at various airports in India
  • Zero liability on fraudulent transactions once the card is reported lost

Watch out

  • Withdrawn — HDFC states "Sourcing of this Credit Card has been stopped" and takes no new applications
  • The cashback gate is the statement BALANCE, not the spend — pay down hard and you drop from 1% to 0.5%
  • Wallet uploads, fuel transactions and international spends are excluded from the domestic cashback legs
  • The card's own fees page claims a ₹299 annual fee in its FAQ, contradicting the Key Fact Statement's "Free"
  • HDFC's 15 May 2026 rewards revision lists a Business Platinum row in a REWARD POINT accrual table the product page never mentions
  • HDFC links Visa's lounge list rather than naming the lounges, and states no complimentary visit count
  • Rent and education payments earn nothing across HDFC's business range

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes Statement cashback (₹) into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Closed to new applications — existing cardholders keep the card; there is no way in.

You cannot. HDFC prints "Sourcing of this Credit Card has been stopped. Existing customers of this card will continue to enjoy the benefits." Existing holders keep a card that costs nothing to hold — HDFC's own fee schedule prices it at "Free", and the ₹30,000 waiver threshold printed beside it is vestigial, because there is no fee to waive.

HDFC Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

SmartBuy moves Amazon Pay gift cards to 1X under Insta Deals
Amazon Pay Gift Voucher sat in SmartBuy's accelerated tier — 'up to 5X Reward Points or 5% cashback' → 'Insta Deals: 1 % Instant Discount + 1X Reward Points' — this brand is out of the accelerated tier

The most-farmed HDFC voucher route stopped being a points play. SmartBuy's own voucher storefront now shows the Amazon Pay Gift Voucher under a new "Insta Deals" tile reading "1 % Instant Discount + 1X Reward Points", and the page's own description flipped from "up to 5X Reward Points or 5% cashback" to "up to 1X". The comparison that settles it sits on the same storefront: the Amazon Fresh voucher still carries an "Accelerated Rewards — Upto 5X Reward Points RPs / 5% Cashback" block that the Amazon Pay page no longer has, so this is one brand leaving the accelerated tier, not the tier closing. The date, honestly: the Insta Deals offer ("Flat 1% OFF", ₹10,000 monthly limit) was already live in the page's own data on 31 August 2026, the reward line still read 5X in the 1 September 16:26 UTC archive capture, and read 1X when this desk fetched the page on 2 September — so 1 September is the community's effective date sitting inside a window we can bracket from primary captures, not a figure HDFC published. The bank has announced nothing and no SmartBuy page carries a notice. Two pieces of context for the size of it: brand vouchers were already sub-capped at 3,000 accelerated points a month from 1 July 2026, and Amazon Pay vouchers disappeared from the portal entirely for stretches of July and August before returning in this shape. Flipkart and Amazon Fresh vouchers still pay the accelerated rate; the ₹10,000-a-month Amazon Pay lane now pays base earn plus the 1% instant discount.
