Welcome: 1,000 bonus JPMiles the first time the card is used — and again on the first use in every year after that, which is as close as a free card came to a renewal benefit

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee

At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹0 gross (earn ₹0) against its ₹0 fee = ₹0 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

Mastercard — Named in evidence twice over: the Gold-era page put the card into "MasterCard 'Airport' Lounges … the Clipper Airport Lounges", and the Titanium-era page into "the MasterCard Exclusive program". Both are programmes only a Mastercard variant can enter.

Why #864 The volume rung of India's first airline co-brand, and free for its whole life. Citi and Jet ran the programme for more than twelve years before withdrawing it on 16 July 2012 and moving holders to PremierMiles. Carried for the record: it is the direct ancestor of every JPMiles card this board still carries.

The take

Citibank and Jet Airways ran India's first serious airline co-brand for more than twelve years, and this was the rung most people actually held: free to get, free to keep, and still carrying a real bundle of airline benefits. Two 30% family discount vouchers a year, good on Jet's domestic and international network alike. An extra 10 kg of checked baggage on every domestic Jet flight. A complimentary cabin-upgrade voucher each time card spend crossed a published JPMiles threshold, usable from Economy to Première or Première to First. A bonus of 1,000 JPMiles on the first swipe of every year. In the Gold era it also opened Mastercard's Clipper airport lounges at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Cochin — a benefit that had gone from the page by the time the card was retitled Titanium around 2009. The whole thing cost nothing: Citi's own fees block said "Free for Life", and after the rebadge, "No Joining or Renewal Card fees". What ended it was not the card but the partnership. Citi and JetPrivilege separated and the co-brand was withdrawn on 16 July 2012, with holders offered a Citibank PremierMiles card at a discounted fee instead — seven years before the airline itself stopped flying. The 2 JPMiles per ₹100 it paid is priced here at the InterMiles house value of ₹0.20 a mile — 0.40%. Read that as what it PAID, not as what a surviving balance is worth: JPMiles became InterMiles, and InterMiles withdrew full redemption in October 2023.

The downgrade

Citibank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • Free for life — Citi published no joining fee and no renewal fee at any point in the card's life
  • Two 30% family discount vouchers a year, valid on Jet Airways' domestic and international routes
  • An additional 10 kg checked baggage allowance on Jet Airways' domestic flights
  • A complimentary Première or First cabin-upgrade voucher at each published JPMiles threshold
  • Full waiver of the 2.5% fuel surcharge at IndianOil outlets

Watch out

  • WITHDRAWN — Citi ended the Jet Airways co-brand on 16 July 2012 and moved holders to PremierMiles
  • The 0.40% is what it PAID: JPMiles became InterMiles, which withdrew full redemption on 27 October 2023
  • The Mastercard Clipper lounge access shown in the Gold era is absent from the later Titanium page — treat it as a benefit that was withdrawn before the card was
  • Sold as the Jet Airways Citibank Gold Card until about 2009; the same product, retitled
  • Citibank's Indian consumer book went to Axis Bank in 2023; nothing of this card migrated, because it had been gone for eleven years

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes InterMiles into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

You cannot. The programme was withdrawn on 16 July 2012 and citibank.co.in no longer serves a page for it; Citibank's Indian consumer card book was subsequently sold to Axis Bank.
