Welcome: Not published — Suryoday states no welcome, activation or first-transaction benefit on this card

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on utilities and travel and fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹4,000 a month

At ₹4,000 a month — ₹48,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹200 gross (earn ₹200) against its ₹150 fee = ₹0 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

RuPay

Why #405 The Platinum tier's cashback with a lifestyle bundle bolted on, gated behind a fixed deposit above ₹1,15,000. Ranked one rung above its sibling for the gym, spa, golf and health-checkup entitlements and the ₹10 lakh accident cover, and no higher: Suryoday claims complimentary airport lounge access on this card and publishes no network, no quota and no lounge list in the KFS or the MITC, so no lounge is modelled here either.

The take

RuPay Select is Suryoday's upper secured tier and the gate is a number: a fixed deposit above ₹1,15,000. Clear it and the fee schedule barely moves — nothing to join, ₹150 + GST a year, waived at ₹50,000 of annual spend rather than the Platinum's ₹20,000 — while the benefit list gets genuinely longer. Suryoday adds a complimentary gym membership, spa and salon coupons, a complimentary golf game or lesson a year across 20-plus courses, preventive health check-ups, and it raises the accident and permanent disability cover from ₹2 lakh to ₹10 lakh. That is a real lifestyle bundle for a card whose credit limit is your own money. The cashback does not change: 0.5% on eligible spend, ₹3,000 a billing cycle, and the same long MCC exclusion list that strips out fuel, utilities, rent, railways, transport, education, insurance and government payments. Forex is 2.5%, a point under the Indian norm. The one claim to treat carefully is the lounge. Suryoday's offers carousel says "Lounge Access: Complimentary access to airport lounges" with the footnote "Applicable Only With Physical Card", and its own comparison table ticks the row for both tiers — but no lounge network, visit count or airport list appears in the KFS, the MITC or anywhere else on the bank's site. RuPay's Select tier normally carries a domestic quota, and it is issuer-optional, so this desk does not tag a lounge on a tick. Remember the physical card is ₹499 + GST here, and by Suryoday's own footnote the lounge claim needs it.

The downgrade

Suryoday Small Finance Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • ₹0 to get and ₹150 + GST a year, waived outright on ₹50,000 of annual spend
  • Complimentary gym membership, spa and salon coupons, a golf game or lesson a year across 20+ courses, and preventive health check-ups
  • Personal accident and permanent disability cover of up to ₹10 lakh — five times the Platinum tier's
  • 0.5% cashback on eligible spend, credited to the card account against the next statement
  • 2.5% forex markup, a full point under the 3.5% most Indian issuers charge

Watch out

  • The gate is a fixed deposit above ₹1,15,000 — Suryoday prints that condition in its own comparison table header
  • 'Lifetime-free' is the banner; the MITC's fee table reads ₹150 + GST a year, waived only at ₹50,000 of spend — two and a half times the Platinum tier's threshold
  • The physical card costs ₹499 + GST here, ₹200 more than the Platinum tier, and Suryoday's own lounge footnote says the benefit is 'Applicable Only With Physical Card'
  • Suryoday claims complimentary airport lounge access and publishes no network, no visit quota and no lounge list in either the KFS or the MITC — this desk tags no lounge access on the strength of a marketing tile
  • Cashback is the same 0.5% as the cheaper Platinum tier, with the same ₹3,000 cycle cap — the deposit buys the lifestyle bundle, not a better rate
  • Fuel, utilities, rent, railways, transport, education, insurance, government services, wallet recharges, financial institutions, mutual funds and charities all earn zero cashback
  • Revolves at 2.95% a month plus GST — an APR of 35.40%
  • Cashback is money credited to a card account: it reaches no airline, no hotel and no transfer partner

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes Statement cashback (₹) into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't

11 sourced rules · 9 pay zero

Identical to the RuPay Platinum tier: Suryoday publishes ONE cashback FAQ for its whole secured programme and both product pages link the same file. 0.5% on each eligible transaction, capped at ₹3,000 in a billing cycle, with the same four-digit MCC exclusion table. The ₹1,15,000 fixed-deposit gate buys the lifestyle bundle — gym, spa, golf, health check-ups and ₹10 lakh of accident cover — and not a better rate or a shorter exclusion list. Fuel and rent carry the same 1% surcharges under this tier's own MITC.

Fuel excluded — MCCs 5541, 5542 and 5983 earn no cashback, and the MITC's 1% fuel surcharge is waived only up to ₹40,000 of fuel a calendar month with no single transaction over ₹8,000
Rent & property management excluded — MCC 6513 earns nothing, carries a 1% surcharge, and no more than 40% of the credit limit may be used for rent in a calendar month
Government / tax excluded — MCCs 8111, 9211, 9222, 9223, 9311, 9313, 9314, 9321, 9399, 9402, 9405, 9411 and 8398 earn nothing
Utilities (electricity/water/gas) excluded — MCC 4900 earns no cashback
Insurance excluded — MCCs 5960, 6300, 6381 and 6399 earn no cashback
Education excluded — MCCs 8299, 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244 and 8249 earn nothing
Wallet loads excluded — MCCs 4814 and 6540 earn nothing
Groceries & supermarkets full — Not on the exclusion table — earns the full 0.5% up to the ₹3,000 cycle cap
Dining & food delivery full — Not on the exclusion table — earns the full 0.5%
Travel (airlines, hotels, transit) excluded — The Transport group — 4111, 4119, 4121, 4131, 4214, 4784, 4789 — and railway 4112 earn nothing. Airlines and hotels are on neither list and earn the full 0.5%, which matters more on this tier because Suryoday markets it with flight discounts and an unquantified lounge claim
Telecom not applicable
Jewellery / gold not applicable
Forex / international spends excluded — MCC 6051, "Foreign Currency Purchase", is excluded. An ordinary overseas transaction is not, but carries the 2.5% + GST foreign currency surcharge
UPI (RuPay-on-UPI only) not applicable
EMI conversions / merchant EMI not applicable
  • Fuel · excluded MCCs 5541, 5542 and 5983 earn no cashback, and the MITC's 1% fuel surcharge is waived only up to ₹40,000 of fuel a calendar month with no single transaction over ₹8,000
  • Rent & property management · excluded MCC 6513 earns nothing, carries a 1% surcharge, and no more than 40% of the credit limit may be used for rent in a calendar month
  • Wallet loads · excluded MCCs 4814 and 6540 earn nothing

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?

not published — and we say which

₹50,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹150 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.

Not published. Suryoday Small Finance Bank states what the Suryoday SFB RuPay Select earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹50,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

The fine print

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.

Forex markup 2.5% of the value of the foreign currency transaction after conversion to INR, plus GST
APR 35.40%/yr + GST (2.95% + GST a month), on both revolving credit and cash advances
Late fee 1% of the amount payable or ₹250, whichever is LOWER, plus GST — at most once per statement cycle
Cash advance up to 2.5% of the amount withdrawn, min ₹500 + GST; cash advances restricted to 20% of the credit limit
Add-on card not published
Overlimit not published
Redemption fee None — cashback is credited to the card account against the next statement

Same shape as the Platinum tier and the same contradiction: "Lifetime-free*" on the page, "Joining Fees | Nil" and "Annual Fees | ₹150+ GST (waived on annual spends of ₹50,000 or more)" in the MITC of 26 May 2026 — our published-nil-fee rule's renewal-only shape. THE TWO TIERS' FEE TABLES DIFFER ON EXACTLY TWO NUMBERS: the waiver threshold (₹50,000 here against ₹20,000) and the physical-card charge (₹499 + GST here against ₹299). Cashback is identical — 0.5% on eligible spend, ₹3,000 a billing cycle, same excluded MCC list — so the ₹1,15,000 deposit buys the lifestyle bundle and not a better rate. What it does buy: a complimentary gym membership, spa and salon coupons, a complimentary golf game or lesson a year across 20+ premium courses, preventive health check-ups, and personal accident and permanent disability cover of up to ₹10 lakh against the Platinum tier's ₹2 lakh. LOUNGE: the page advertises "Lounge Access: Complimentary access to airport lounges — *T&C Apply (Applicable Only With Physical Card)" and the comparison table ticks the row, and NO network, visit quota or lounge list appears in the KFS or the MITC, so no lounge access is modelled on the card. Same 1% rental and fuel surcharges with the ₹40,000-a-month / ₹8,000-a-transaction fuel waiver ceiling. RuPay.
