KeepA virtual RuPay card that pays ten points per ₹100 on the UPI spending you already do.

What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: 2,500 Reward Points on a first transaction of ₹500 in 30 days, 2,000 more for fifteen UPI payments of ₹500 each in the same window, and 1,500 more for ₹30,000 of spend in three months
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on utilities and fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹20,000 a month
At ₹20,000 a month — ₹2,40,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹400 gross (earn ₹400) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹499 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹2,00,000 a year = ₹400 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #299
Why #299 Ranked below where the raw earn model puts it: the 10X rung only fires on UPI routed through SalarySe's own app, and the RuPay small-merchant rule zeroes exactly the sub-₹2,000 QR payments a UPI card exists for.
RBL publishes a card-specific redemption rate here: ₹0.20 a point on the SalarySe app with no redemption fee, against the ₹0.25 house rate on the RBL rewards portal — which charges ₹99 + GST per redemption day. The earn figures on this page are struck at ₹0.20.
The take
SalarySe UP is a virtual-only RuPay card — there is no plastic, you access it in the RBL MyBank app — built around one idea: pay your UPI bills through the SalarySe app and earn like it was a swipe. The base is a flat 1 Reward Point per ₹100. The interesting rungs are on UPI: 5 points per ₹100 on eligible SalarySe UPI transactions, capped at 1,000 points a month, and 10 points per ₹100 on incremental UPI spending above ₹20,000 a month, capped at 8,000. Run ₹1 lakh a month of UPI through it and the ceilings pay out at ₹1,800 a month. The welcome stack is the most generous under ₹500 on this board: 6,000 points across three separate tasks. Two caveats that matter. RBL redeems these points at ₹0.20 on the SalarySe app rather than the ₹0.25 it quotes elsewhere — that is the rate every number here is struck at — and the RuPay small-merchant rule means offline UPI under ₹2,000 earns nothing at all.
Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel
This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.
Keep, downgrade or cancel
₹499/yr at stake · 5 spend bands
The charge ₹499/yr
The waiver ₹2,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹16,667 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹20,000 a month — ₹2,40,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.
At your spend
₹500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹1,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹2,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹6,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹10,100 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade
RBL Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
What has changed under this card
- 23 Sep 2026 Axis EDGE brings Accor back, drops ITC, and adds Cathay, Miles & More and Hilton a program these points reach
- 21 Aug 2026 Club ITC pays up to 50,000 bonus Green Points for spreading 10 nights across all five brands a program these points reach
- 7 Jan 2026 RBL bolts a 1% fee onto FASTag loads and tolls — the fifth 1% line on its charge sheet issuer-wide

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- 10 Reward Points per ₹100 on UPI spending above ₹20,000 a month, to 8,000 points a month
- 5 Reward Points per ₹100 on eligible SalarySe UPI spends, to 1,000 points a month
- Up to 6,000 welcome points across three tasks in the first three months
- Fee reverses on ₹2 lakh of eligible annual spend
- No redemption fee at all when you redeem inside the SalarySe app
Watch out
- Points redeem at ₹0.20 on the SalarySe app — below the ₹0.25 RBL quotes on its own portal, which charges ₹99 + GST per redemption day
- Offline UPI payments under ₹2,000 at small merchants earn NOTHING — the RuPay small-merchant rule
- Virtual only: no physical card is ever issued, and access is through the RBL MyBank app
- The accelerated rungs only fire on UPI done through SalarySe's own app, not any UPI app
- Utilities, insurance, quasi-cash, railways, rent, education, wallets, government, cash, EMI and Bills2Pay earn nothing and do not count toward the fee waiver
- RBL charges 1% on FIVE transaction types its Schedule of Charges lists separately from the reward exclusions: rent (MCC 6513, on every transaction), fuel and auto above ₹10,000 a transaction (capped at ₹3,000), utility spends above ₹50,000 a month, education paid through third-party apps such as CRED, PhonePe or Paytm (school and college websites are exempt), and — with effect from 7 January 2026 — FASTag loading and tolls above ₹10,000 a transaction. These are FEES, listed nowhere near the reward exclusions: a category can both cost you 1% and earn you nothing
What these points actually fly
RBL Reward Points move to Club ITC — and that programme prices every award dynamically. There is no published chart to quote, so we quote nothing: an estimate is not a seat.

What earns, what doesn't
14 sourced rules · 8 pay zero
A 100% virtual RuPay card built around UPI: 1 RP/₹100 on ordinary spend, 5X on UPI through the SalarySe app (1,000 RP a month) and 10X on incremental UPI above ₹20,000 a month (8,000 RP a month). Its exclusion table is SHORTER than the rest of RBL's shelf — seven categories, with no Railways, Quasi-Cash, Contracted Services, Cash, Miscellaneous or Bills2Pay row — and the page attaches that same table to the annual-fee waiver.
- Fuel · excluded Zero RP and no waiver credit — "Fuel & Auto" (MCC 0032, 2541, 4001, 5542, 5541, 5172) heads the card's own MCC table. RBL charges 1% on fuel/auto transactions above ₹10,000, capped at ₹3,000 (MITC)
- Rent & property management · excluded Zero RP and no waiver credit — "Real Estate/Rental" (MCC 6513); 1% fee on every rental transaction bank-wide (MITC)
- Wallet loads · excluded Zero RP and no waiver credit — "Wallets/Service Providers" (MCC 6540)
- Utilities (electricity/water/gas) · excluded Zero RP and no waiver credit — "Utilities" (MCC 4900); 1% fee past ₹50,000 of utility spend a month (MITC)
Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
13 of 15 categories answered
₹2,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹499 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Put your number in
₹80,000 a month of rent & property management is ₹9,60,000 a year that counts ₹0 toward the fee waiver.
"Purchases made on below merchant categories will not be considered in the purchase value for the Fee Waiver benefit" — pointing at the same seven-row MCC table the page uses for accrual: Fuel & Auto, Utilities, Insurance, Real Estate/Rental, Education, Wallets/Service Providers and Government Services. The ₹499 fee is waived on ₹2 lakh of eligible annual spend

- 23 Sept 2026Axis EDGE brings Accor back, drops ITC, and adds Cathay, Miles & More and HiltonAccor and Marriott off the grid since 2 April 2026; Club ITC live; no Cathay, Miles & More or Hilton → Accor live at the punished rates; ITC removed; Cathay, Hilton and Miles & More live; Marriott still gone
Axis's own Travel EDGE terms, re-read 25 September 2026, already show the grid that went live on 23 September. Accor ALL is back, and not at the old Atlas 1:2: EDGE Miles convert at 2:1 (Olympus 1:2) and EDGE Rewards at 5:1, with Magnus for Burgundy at 5:2 and only Burgundy Private still at 5:4. Club ITC is off the table. Three partners are new. Cathay Asia Miles sits on that same punished grid. Hilton Honors is the ordinary one: EDGE Miles 1:2, EDGE Rewards 5:2, Burgundy 5:4. Lufthansa Miles & More is the exception on Atlas, which converts 1:1 there while every other standard airline on that card is 1:2; the EDGE Rewards side of Miles & More is the ordinary 5:2. Marriott stays removed. Qatar Privilege Club was already back. Flying Blue, Air India and Qantas moved into Group A, which is the capped group. The Axis Rewards credit card's Amex network is advertised as joining-fee and annual-fee nil for a limited period; there is no separate Amex variant on this board, so that offer is not modelled as a fee change.
