Welcome: 500 Delight Points on card activation plus 750 more on a first transaction of ₹5,000 or more within 30 days — 1,250 points, worth ₹313

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹14,000 a month

At ₹14,000 a month — ₹1,68,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹1,200 gross (earn ₹1,200) against a fee of ₹0 — the ₹1,499 is waived, the spend having cleared ₹1,50,000 a year = ₹1,200 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

Mastercard — World — the 12 domestic lounge visits and the travel concierge are both Mastercard's programmes

Why #72 Twelve domestic lounge visits and a real 2× on travel spend for ₹1,499 is a well-built mid-tier card; a closed-loop point at ₹0.25 and a 3.5% forex markup are what stop it competing higher.

The take

IDBI built a travel card and then never told anyone. Euphoria World gives you twelve complimentary lounge visits a calendar year at participating lounges in India on Mastercard's programme, and 6 Delight Points per ₹100 on travel-related spend — hotels, airlines, IRCTC and bus bookings — against 3 everywhere else. That is a genuine 2× travel accelerator on a ₹1,499 card whose first year is free and whose fee disappears above ₹1,50,000 of annual spend, or ₹12,500 a month. IDBI even carved railways out of its own exclusion list for this card specifically, which nothing else on its shelf gets. Now price it honestly. A Delight Point is ₹0.25 by IDBI's own reckoning, so 6 points on travel is 1.5% and 3 points on everything else is 0.75% — respectable, not remarkable, and it is a closed loop: no airline programme, no hotel programme, no transfer route out at any ratio. The lounge quota is domestic only, despite the word "World" on the card. Forex is the full 3.5%. Interest is 2.90% a month. The card that makes sense here is the one you hold for twelve lounge chairs and a slightly better rate on the flights that got you to them — not the one you put your life on.

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.

₹1,50,000 annual spend erases that fee
₹14,000/mo is where the waiver, not the earn, saves it

Keep, downgrade or cancel

₹1,499/yr at stake · 5 spend bands

The charge ₹1,499/yr

The waiver ₹1,50,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹12,500 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.

Break-even ₹14,000 a month — ₹1,68,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee, and it gets there by erasing the fee at the waiver rather than out-earning it.

At your spend

₹2,500 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹5,100 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹9,300 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹26,300 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹43,200 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade

IDBI Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 12 complimentary domestic lounge visits a calendar year, on Mastercard's programme
  • 6 Delight Points per ₹100 on travel — double the base rate — including IRCTC and bus bookings
  • No joining fee; the ₹1,499 starts in year two and is waived above ₹1,50,000 of annual spend
  • 1,250 welcome points, plus 1,500 at ₹2,00,000 and 2,000 more at ₹4,00,000 of annual spend
  • ₹25,00,000 of air-travel accident cover and no reward-redemption fee

Watch out

  • "World" buys you nothing abroad — the 12 lounge visits are India-only and the forex markup is the full 3.5%
  • 0.75% base, 1.5% on travel: 3 and 6 Delight Points per ₹100 at ₹0.25 apiece
  • Closed loop — Delight Points reach no airline and no hotel programme at any ratio
  • Fuel, insurance, tax and government spend earn nothing at all
  • 2.90% a month, 34.80% a year, on anything you revolve
  • Delight Points expire 36 months after accrual; the first redemption needs 1,000 points

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes IDBI Delight Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't

12 sourced rules · 3 pay zero
Fuel excluded — Zero Delight Points — MCC 5541, 5542, 5172 and 5983 are all on the MITC's exclusion annexure. What you get instead is a 1% fuel surcharge refund on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹500 a month
Rent & property management full — 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — the MITC's clause 11 is a CLOSED list: "Delight Points will be given for all spends done using IDBI Credit Cards with the exception of the following", and rent (6513, 7349) is not among the sixteen codes on it
Government / tax excluded — Zero Delight Points — the annexure names 9211 (court costs), 9222 (fines), 9311 (tax payments), 9399 (government services NEC) and 9405 (intra-government purchases). It does not name 9402 or 9223
Utilities (electricity/water/gas) full — 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — utilities (4900, 4899, 4816) appear nowhere on the MITC's sixteen-code exclusion annexure
Insurance excluded — Zero Delight Points — the annexure names 6300 (insurance sales, underwriting and premiums), 6381 (insurance premiums) and 5960 (direct-marketing insurance). It does not name 6380, so a merchant coded there is not covered by the exclusion as IDBI has written it
Education full — 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — education (8211–8299) appears nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure, which is unusually generous for the segment
Wallet loads full — 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — wallet loads (6539–6541) appear nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure. The annexure does exclude 6010 and 6011, which are manual and automated cash disbursement, not wallet top-ups
Groceries & supermarkets full — 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — groceries and supermarkets appear nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure
Dining & food delivery not applicable
Telecom full — 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — MCC 4814 appears nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure
Jewellery / gold full — 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) — 5944 and 5094 appear nowhere on the MITC's exclusion annexure
Forex / international spends full — 3 Delight Points per ₹100 (0.75%) on international spend too — the exclusion annexure is MCC-based and carries no currency test — but against a 3.5% cross-currency markup, which swamps the earn
UPI (RuPay-on-UPI only) not applicable — Euphoria World is a Mastercard with no RuPay variant, so it cannot be linked to UPI at all
EMI conversions / merchant EMI not applicable
  • Fuel · excluded Zero Delight Points — MCC 5541, 5542, 5172 and 5983 are all on the MITC's exclusion annexure. What you get instead is a 1% fuel surcharge refund on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹500 a month
  • Insurance · excluded Zero Delight Points — the annexure names 6300 (insurance sales, underwriting and premiums), 6381 (insurance premiums) and 5960 (direct-marketing insurance). It does not name 6380, so a merchant coded there is not covered by the exclusion as IDBI has written it

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?

not published — and we say which

₹1,50,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹1,499 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.

Not published. IDBI Bank states what the IDBI Bank Euphoria World earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver and the milestones — the ₹1,50,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

One Key Fact Statement covers IDBI's whole seven-variant shelf. Euphoria is Nil to join — primary and add-on — and ₹1,499 only "from 2nd year onwards", waived on ₹1,50,000 of spend in the preceding year. Cash withdrawal is capped at 15% of the credit limit, ₹15,000 daily cap. Cheque or auto-debit return ₹500; card replacement ₹200; duplicate statement ₹100 for anything over three months old; balance transfer 1.5% or ₹199, whichever is higher. Minimum amount due is 5% of the total, min ₹200. Interest-free period 18–48 days. Fuel surcharge waiver 1% on ₹400–₹5,000 transactions, capped at ₹500 a month. IDBI publishes NO income or age criterion for any card variant — not on the product page, not in the KFS, not in the MITC — so the eligibility rows here are honestly empty rather than borrowed from a sibling bank's shelf.
