Welcome: 2,000 Reward Points on joining and 1,000 Reward Points on each renewal, as published while the card was open

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes a fee schedule AND an earn table — we have neither number, so there is nothing to net off against nothing. Everything we can source — the fee, the charges, the migration that put this card in your hand — is above and stands on its own; this card is simply not on the board, not in the calculator, and cannot win a best-of call until HDFC Bank publishes terms we can cite.

HDFC Bank · Not published · entry

Why #861 Carried, not priced. A doctors-only Platinum HDFC still names in its 2026 MITC — it is the only card in the bank's cashback table with a ₹200 minimum — while publishing neither a fee nor a redemption rate for it anywhere.

The take

Doctor's Platinum is the quietest survivor on HDFC's legacy shelf. Its product page went down years ago, it takes no applications, and yet the bank's own Key Fact Statement cum MITC — Version 4.6, dated August 2026 — still carries it by name in two places. One is the minimum-cashback table, where "Doctors Platinum" gets a row of its own at ₹200: the lowest redemption floor in a document whose other bands are ₹250, ₹500 and ₹2,500, and the only band in it occupied by a single product. The other is the fair-usage list, where "doctors" sits among the variants capped at 15,000 Reward Points a statement cycle. That is a card the bank is still administering, not one it has forgotten. What HDFC does NOT publish for it is either of the two numbers a reader actually needs. The MITC's opening fee table prices every live variant by name and has no row for this one; the card's own Schedule of Charges runs to twenty line items — 3.15% a month revolving, 2.5% cash advance, ₹75 a redemption request, 3.5% forex — and never states a membership fee. And clause (x), which fixes the value of a point for cashback redemption, names eleven products at 20, 15 and 10 paise; Doctors Platinum is in none of the lists, immediately after the same document set its ₹200 floor. So the card has a redemption minimum and no redemption rate. The travel side was always thin and is now archaeology: the archived page's "Doctor's Platinum Travel Club" redeemed points against air miles on Jet Airways, Kingfisher and Air India, two of which are gone. No lounge appears anywhere in the record. What is left is a fair-usage cap, a ₹200 floor, and a bank that will still process a redemption request it has never priced.

Your renewal — keep, downgrade or cancel

There is no renewal arithmetic to run on this card yet — and a break-even we cannot source is not one we will print.

Keep, downgrade or cancel

what we can and cannot price

Not valued. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes a fee schedule AND an earn table — we have neither number, so there is nothing to net off against nothing. A break-even is the spend at which value crosses a fee, and we are short one side of that sentence — so this desk prints no ladder, no crossing and no ₹0 standing in for either. What we can source about this card is under Sources.

The downgrade

HDFC Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and we cannot price either side of it.

What has changed under this card

  • 1 Sep 2026 SmartBuy moves Amazon Pay gift cards to 1X under Insta Deals issuer-wide
  • 1 Jul 2026 HDFC caps SmartBuy brand-voucher rewards issuer-wide
  • 15 May 2026 HDFC lifts its DCC markup to 1.75% across the card range issuer-wide

We price what is in force today — a change that has not happened yet is not in these numbers. the full archive for this card →

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • HDFC's August-2026 MITC still names it — the only product in the cashback table at a ₹200 minimum, against bands of ₹250, ₹500 and ₹2,500
  • 2,000 Reward Points on joining and 1,000 on each renewal, as published while the card was open
  • 50% more Reward Points on transactions coded to the Restaurant MCC — HDFC excluded Hotel-coded merchants from it by name
  • Add-on cards were free for life, stated as its own line in the card's Schedule of Charges
  • Full fuel surcharge waiver on fuel spends between ₹400 and ₹5,000
  • Up to 50 interest-free days

Watch out

  • Withdrawn — the product page is gone from HDFC's site and the card takes no new applications
  • HDFC publishes no membership fee for this card in the MITC fee table, in its own Schedule of Charges, or on its archived page — so none is printed here
  • HDFC publishes no redemption rate either: the MITC's cashback clause prices eleven variants and omits this one immediately after setting its ₹200 floor
  • Profession-gated: HDFC issued it to salaried and self-practising doctors only
  • The 'Travel Club' redeemed points into Jet Airways, Kingfisher and Air India — two of those airlines no longer exist
  • Accrual is capped at 15,000 Reward Points a statement cycle by HDFC's fair-usage table
  • Revolving interest is 3.15% a month — 37.8% a year — and a redemption request costs ₹75
  • 3.5% forex markup, the Indian norm, with no travel offset anywhere on the card
  • No lounge access appears anywhere in the card's record

What these points actually fly

HDFC Bank has not published what this card earns, so there are no points here to fly with — not zero points, and not points that go nowhere: nothing stated either way. The moment a benefit sheet exists we will price whatever it names.

Closed to new applications — existing cardholders keep the card; there is no way in.

You cannot. HDFC's product page for the card 404s, no application route exists, and while it was open the card was gated to doctors — the archived eligibility panel lists exactly two applicant types, "Salaried Doctors" aged 21 to 60 and "Self-Practicisg Doctors" aged 21 to 65 (HDFC's typo, not ours). Existing holders keep it, and the August-2026 MITC shows the bank is still administering their accounts.

HDFC Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.

SmartBuy moves Amazon Pay gift cards to 1X under Insta Deals
Amazon Pay Gift Voucher sat in SmartBuy's accelerated tier — 'up to 5X Reward Points or 5% cashback' → 'Insta Deals: 1 % Instant Discount + 1X Reward Points' — this brand is out of the accelerated tier

The most-farmed HDFC voucher route stopped being a points play. SmartBuy's own voucher storefront now shows the Amazon Pay Gift Voucher under a new "Insta Deals" tile reading "1 % Instant Discount + 1X Reward Points", and the page's own description flipped from "up to 5X Reward Points or 5% cashback" to "up to 1X". The comparison that settles it sits on the same storefront: the Amazon Fresh voucher still carries an "Accelerated Rewards — Upto 5X Reward Points RPs / 5% Cashback" block that the Amazon Pay page no longer has, so this is one brand leaving the accelerated tier, not the tier closing. The date, honestly: the Insta Deals offer ("Flat 1% OFF", ₹10,000 monthly limit) was already live in the page's own data on 31 August 2026, the reward line still read 5X in the 1 September 16:26 UTC archive capture, and read 1X when this desk fetched the page on 2 September — so 1 September is the community's effective date sitting inside a window we can bracket from primary captures, not a figure HDFC published. The bank has announced nothing and no SmartBuy page carries a notice. Two pieces of context for the size of it: brand vouchers were already sub-capped at 3,000 accelerated points a month from 1 July 2026, and Amazon Pay vouchers disappeared from the portal entirely for stretches of July and August before returning in this shape. Flipkart and Amazon Fresh vouchers still pay the accelerated rate; the ₹10,000-a-month Amazon Pay lane now pays base earn plus the 1% instant discount.
