What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: 1,499 NeuCoins within 15 days of the ₹1,499 fee being realised — the fee back, in a currency you can only spend inside Tata
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹9,000 a month
At ₹9,000 a month — ₹1,08,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹1,500 gross (earn ₹1,500) against its ₹1,499 fee = ₹0 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
2 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants
NeuCoins are a fixed ₹1 currency and a Tata-locked one: they transfer to no airline and no hotel programme, and the only way out is Tata's own tills — Tata Pay at Tata Neu, Air India Express, BigBasket, Croma and IHCL hotels, or the redemption option at Tata Cliq, Tata 1mg, Titan and Tanishq. ₹1 is both the value and the ceiling. Fractions are rounded DOWN and thrown away on every single transaction, so a wallet of ₹250 swipes earns 3 NeuCoins where the arithmetic says 3.75 — a quiet haircut nobody advertises.
The take
Every card on this board charges 3.5% to spend a foreign rupee. This one charges 1.99%, and SBI's own MITC names it card-by-card alongside AURUM, ELITE and the MILES range — company that costs ₹4,999 to ₹9,999 a year. Here it costs ₹1,499, waived outright at ₹3 lakh of annual spend, and the welcome hands the fee back in NeuCoins in the first fifteen days. On a ₹3 lakh foreign trip the markup gap alone is ₹4,530. That is the whole argument, and it is a good one. The Tata earn is the second argument and it is narrower than it looks: 5% back across Air India, Air India Express, Taj and IHCL, BigBasket, Croma, Westside and Tanishq, up to 10% inside the Tata Neu app once NeuPass is on — genuinely excellent if a Tata brand is where your money goes, and 1.5% everywhere else if it isn't. Then read the lounge list, because SBI publishes one specific to this card and it is startling: 36 rooms, and Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad are not among them. Bengaluru is the only top-six metro on it. You get eight visits a year, gated on ₹75,000 of spend in the previous quarter, at airports like Agartala, Ayodhya, Gwalior and Siliguri. Four Priority Pass visits abroad soften that, for two years only. Buy this for the 1.99% and the Tata 5%. Do not buy it for the lounge, and do not expect the NeuCoins to fly you anywhere — they buy an Air India Express ticket at face value, which is not the same thing.

The charge ₹1,499/yr
The waiver ₹3,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹25,000 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹9,000 a month — ₹1,08,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee.

The downgrade
SBI Card publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
What has changed under this card
- 3 Aug 2026 SBI drops Etihad Guest from the MILES transfer table — the last SBI door into the programme issuer-wide
- 31 Mar 2026 SBI kills both Etihad Guest co-brands and force-swaps holders into MILES issuer-wide
- 10 Jan 2026 SBI Card splits domestic lounges into tiers, adds entry fees issuer-wide

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- 1.99% forex markup — SBI's MITC names this card by name, beside AURUM, ELITE and the MILES tiers
- ₹1,499 fee waived outright on ₹3 lakh of annual spend, and 1,499 welcome NeuCoins hand it back anyway
- 5% back as NeuCoins on Air India, Air India Express and Taj/IHCL — the travel earn, at face value
- Up to 10% inside the Tata Neu app with NeuPass; 5% across BigBasket, Croma, Westside, Tata Cliq, Tata 1mg and Tanishq
- 1.5% on everything else, UPI included on the RuPay variant
- 8 domestic lounge visits a year (2 a quarter) plus 4 international Priority Pass visits
Watch out
- The domestic lounge roster is card-specific and skips the metros — 36 rooms w.e.f. 10 Apr 2026, with no Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad or Goa on it
- Domestic lounge access is gated on ₹75,000 of spend in the PREVIOUS quarter — miss it and the quarter's two visits never open
- Priority Pass membership lasts 2 years only, and every visit past the fourth is US$27 + taxes
- NeuCoins transfer to no airline and no hotel programme — the exits are Tata's own tills and nothing else
- Fractional NeuCoins are rounded DOWN and discarded on every transaction — a ₹250 spend pays 3, not 3.75
- UPI earn is capped at 500 NeuCoins a month; grocery, insurance, utilities and telecom are capped at 2,000 each
- Fuel, rent, government payments, education, online gaming and wallet loads earn nothing at all
- Switch off this card to another SBI card and any NeuCoins accrued before the statement cycle are forfeited
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Tata NeuCoins into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't
10 sourced rules · 5 pay zero
Earn is published as value-back, not points per ₹100, and 1 NeuCoin = ₹1 — so the percentages ARE the ₹-rates. 5% at the Tata Neu app/website and partner Tata brands, up to 5% more on select in-app categories via NeuPass, 1.5% on everything else. The exclusion and cap rows below are the T&C's own MCC tables, §11.4(g) and §11.4(i). RuPay variant is UPI-linkable; UPI earn is capped at 500 NeuCoins a month.
- Fuel · excluded Zero NeuCoins — MCC 5172, 5541, 5542, 5983; the 1% fuel-surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹4,000 transactions (max ₹500 per statement cycle) is all you get
- Rent & property management · excluded Zero NeuCoins — MCC 7349 and 6513
- Wallet loads · excluded Zero NeuCoins — e-wallet, gift-card and prepaid loads under MCC 6540 and 6541
- Utilities (electricity/water/gas) · capped Capped at 2,000 NeuCoins a month; telecom and cable carry their own separate 2,000 cap
Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹3,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹1,499 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. SBI Card states what the Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹3,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

Openly available. SBI's live catalogue carries the Tata Neu Infinity (productType TINF) with isOnline "yes" and a working Apply Now flow, and the card was relaunched on 1 May 2025 — the fee, the 1.99% markup and the NeuCoins grid all date from that relaunch. It is the upper of a two-card pair; the ₹499 Tata Neu Plus below it keeps the lounge and loses the markup.

The fine print
7 of 7 MITC rows published
What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
Fee ₹1,499 + taxes as both the annual charge and the renewal charge, reversed on ₹3 lakh or more of net retail spend in the 365 days preceding the fee billing date — the reversal lands within 30 days of the charge. The 1.99% foreign-currency markup is the headline and it is card-specific: SBI's schedule of charges names "Tata Neu Infinity SBI Credit Card" in the exemption list, and the Tata Neu PLUS tier is NOT in it. Earn 5% value back as NeuCoins on the Tata Neu app or website and partner Tata brands (Air India, Air India Express, Taj Hotels, BigBasket, Tata Cliq, Tata 1mg, Titan & Tanishq, Croma, Westside, Qmin), up to 5% more on select in-app categories through NeuPass, and 1.5% on everything else including UPI on the RuPay variant. 1 NeuCoin = ₹1, credited to the NeuPass account within 7 working days of the statement cycle, and fractional NeuCoins are rounded DOWN and discarded on every transaction. Monthly NeuCoin caps: grocery 2,000, insurance 2,000, utilities 2,000, telecom and cable 2,000, UPI 500. Zero NeuCoins on fuel (MCC 5172, 5541, 5542, 5983), wallet loads and gift/prepaid loads (6540, 6541), rent (7349, 6513), government (9399, 9311), education (5111, 5192, 5942, 5943, 5947, 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, 8299, 8351), online gaming (5816, 7993, 7994), cash advances, card-fee payments and Flexipay. Lounge: 8 domestic visits a year (2 a quarter) gated on ₹75,000 of spend in the preceding quarter, on a card-specific 36-room roster that excludes Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad, plus 4 international Priority Pass visits a year with a complimentary membership that lasts 2 years only. Fuel-surcharge waiver 1% on ₹500–₹4,000 transactions, max ₹500 per statement cycle. NeuCoins accrued before a statement cycle are forfeited if the card is switched out of the co-brand programme.

- 3 Aug 2026SBI drops Etihad Guest from the MILES transfer table — the last SBI door into the programmeSBI Card Travel Credits transferred 1:1 into Etihad Guest, one of eighteen airline partners in §3 of the MILES rewards T&C. At the ₹1/partner-mile anchor that was a full-value exit, and it was the only route left after the two Etihad Guest SBI co-brands were retired. → No Etihad route at all. The MILES rewards T&C now lists seventeen airline partners and Etihad is not one of them — the word does not appear anywhere in the seven-page document. Every other SBI partner survives at the same ratio.
SBI Card's own MILES rewards T&C, re-fetched on 22 August 2026 and carrying a 3 August 2026 ModDate inside the PDF, has one fewer airline in it than the edition this desk read on 2 August. The deletion is provable from the numbering rather than from absence alone: the table's first seven rows are unchanged (Air Canada 3, Air France-KLM 4, Air India 5, British Airways 6, Cathay 7), and every row from position eight onward has moved up exactly one — Thai from 14 to 13, Qantas from 17 to 16. Position eight was Etihad Airways / Etihad Guest / 1:1. All twenty-four other partners we carry, airline and hotel, are still there at the same ratios, so this is Etihad being dropped and not SBI narrowing transfers. The timing matters more than the ratio. SBI phased out the Etihad Guest SBI and Etihad Guest SBI Premier cards from December 2025 and reissued holders onto MILES products, and the transfer route was what made that migration survivable — a Premier holder who had spent six years earning Etihad miles could keep feeding the same account through Travel Credits. That is now closed, and India's remaining pipes into Etihad Guest run through BOBCARD's Etihad co-brands, not through SBI. If you hold SBI Travel Credits earmarked for an Abu Dhabi business seat, they are Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avios or Maharaja points now. ON THE DATE: SBI publishes no notice and no cut-off. The date here is the day the desk read the change out of SBI's own document; the PDF's internal ModDate puts the edition at 3 August 2026, which is the earliest day we can prove, not an announcement.
