What it's worth to you, after the fee
Welcome: 499 NeuCoins within 15 days of the ₹499 fee being realised — the fee back, in a currency that only spends inside Tata
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹5,000 a month
At ₹5,000 a month — ₹60,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹600 gross (earn ₹600) against its ₹499 fee = ₹100 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
2 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants
NeuCoins are a fixed ₹1 currency and a Tata-locked one: no airline, no hotel programme, no transfer of any kind. The only exits are Tata's own tills — Tata Pay at Tata Neu, Air India Express, BigBasket, Croma and IHCL hotels, or the redemption option at Tata Cliq, Tata 1mg and (through the Tata Neu app only) Titan and Tanishq. ₹1 is the value and the ceiling both. And fractions are rounded DOWN and discarded on every transaction: at this card's 1% base a ₹140 spend earns 1 NeuCoin where the arithmetic says 1.4, so small swipes leak roughly a third.
The take
This is the cheap seat in the Tata Neu pair, and the honest way to read it is as a lounge card with a shopping habit. ₹499, waived at ₹1 lakh of annual spend, and 499 welcome NeuCoins hand the fee straight back — so the first year costs nothing and the second costs nothing if you spend eight thousand rupees a month. For that you get four domestic lounge visits a year, one a quarter, plus 2% back as NeuCoins across Air India, Air India Express, Taj and IHCL, BigBasket, Croma, Westside and Tanishq, and 1% on everything else. Now the two things the marketing does not lead with. The lounge visits are gated on ₹50,000 of spend in the PREVIOUS quarter, so the quarter you don't spend is the quarter the door doesn't open — and SBI's roster for this card is 36 rooms with no Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata or Hyderabad on it. Bengaluru is the only top-six metro. And the 1.99% foreign-currency markup that makes the Infinity tier interesting is NOT on this card: SBI's MITC names the Infinity in its exemption list and leaves the Plus at the full 3.5%. So take it if you shop Tata and fly out of a tier-two airport, and pay the extra ₹1,000 for the Infinity the moment you either spend abroad or fly out of a metro.

Keep, downgrade or cancel
₹499/yr at stake · 5 spend bands
The charge ₹499/yr
The waiver ₹1,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹8,333 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even ₹5,000 a month — ₹60,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee.
At your spend
₹2,800 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹5,600 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹11,300 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged
₹29,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

The downgrade
SBI Card publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
What has changed under this card
- 3 Aug 2026 SBI drops Etihad Guest from the MILES transfer table — the last SBI door into the programme issuer-wide
- 31 Mar 2026 SBI kills both Etihad Guest co-brands and force-swaps holders into MILES issuer-wide
- 10 Jan 2026 SBI Card splits domestic lounges into tiers, adds entry fees issuer-wide

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- ₹499 waived on ₹1 lakh of annual spend, and 499 welcome NeuCoins return it anyway
- 4 domestic lounge visits a year — one a quarter, on ₹50,000 of previous-quarter spend
- 2% back as NeuCoins on Air India, Air India Express and Taj/IHCL
- Up to 7% inside the Tata Neu app with NeuPass; 2% across BigBasket, Croma, Westside, Tata Cliq, Tata 1mg and Tanishq
- 1% on everything else, UPI included on the RuPay variant
Watch out
- 3.5% forex — the 1.99% markup belongs to the Infinity tier only, and SBI's MITC names that card and not this one
- The lounge roster is card-specific and skips the metros — 36 rooms, with no Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad or Goa
- Lounge access is gated on ₹50,000 of spend in the PREVIOUS quarter — no spend, no visit, and the quarter's visit does not roll over
- No international lounge access at all — no Priority Pass on this tier
- NeuCoins transfer to no airline and no hotel programme; the exits are Tata's own tills
- Fractional NeuCoins are rounded DOWN and discarded — at 1%, a ₹140 spend pays 1 NeuCoin, not 1.4
- Grocery earn caps at 1,000 NeuCoins a month (the Infinity's cap is 2,000); insurance, utilities and telecom cap at 2,000 each; UPI at 500
- Fuel, rent, government payments, education, online gaming and wallet loads earn nothing at all
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Tata NeuCoins into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

What earns, what doesn't
10 sourced rules · 5 pay zero
Earn is published as value-back, not points per ₹100, and 1 NeuCoin = ₹1 — so the percentages ARE the ₹-rates. 2% at the Tata Neu app/website and partner Tata brands, up to 5% more on select in-app categories via NeuPass, 1% on everything else. The exclusion and cap rows below are the T&C's own tables, §11.4(a) and §11.4(h); the exclusion set matches the Infinity tier exactly, but the grocery cap is HALF it.
- Fuel · excluded Zero NeuCoins — MCC 5172, 5541, 5542, 5983
- Rent & property management · excluded Zero NeuCoins — MCC 7349 and 6513
- Wallet loads · excluded Zero NeuCoins — wallet, gift-card and prepaid loads and voucher purchases under MCC 6540 and 6541
- Utilities (electricity/water/gas) · capped Capped at 2,000 NeuCoins a month; telecom and cable carry a separate 2,000 cap
Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?
not published — and we say which
₹1,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹499 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.
Not published. SBI Card states what the Tata Neu Plus SBI Card earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹1,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

Openly available. SBI's live catalogue carries the Tata Neu Plus (productType TPLU) with isOnline "yes" and a working Apply Now flow, relaunched alongside the Infinity on 1 May 2025. It is the entry rung of a two-card pair — the ₹1,499 Infinity above it doubles the lounge quota, adds Priority Pass, and is the only one of the two with the 1.99% markup.

What the MITC actually says — the rates, fees and cutoffs the brochure skips.
Fee ₹499 + taxes as both the annual charge and the renewal charge, reversed on ₹1 lakh or more of net retail spend in the 365 days preceding the fee billing date. Earn 2% value back as NeuCoins on the Tata Neu app or website and partner Tata brands (Air India, Air India Express, Taj Hotels, BigBasket, Tata Cliq, Tata 1mg, Titan & Tanishq, Croma, Westside, Qmin), up to 5% more on select in-app categories through NeuPass, and 1% on everything else including UPI on the RuPay variant. 1 NeuCoin = ₹1, credited to the NeuPass account within 7 working days of the statement cycle, and fractional NeuCoins are rounded DOWN and discarded on every transaction — at a 1% base that costs a ₹140 swipe 0.4 of a coin. Monthly NeuCoin caps: grocery 1,000 (half the Infinity tier's), insurance 2,000, utilities 2,000, telecom and cable 2,000, UPI 500 per statement cycle. Zero NeuCoins on fuel (MCC 5172, 5541, 5542, 5983), wallet, gift and prepaid loads and voucher purchases (6540, 6541), rent (7349, 6513), government (9399, 9311), education (5111, 5192, 5942, 5943, 5947, 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, 8299, 8351), online gaming (5816, 7993, 7994), cash advances, outstanding-balance and card-fee payments and Flexipay. Lounge: 4 domestic visits a year, 1 a quarter, gated on ₹50,000 of spend in the preceding quarter, on the same card-specific 36-room roster the Infinity uses — which carries no Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata or Hyderabad. There is no international lounge access and no Priority Pass on this tier. NeuCoins accrued before a statement cycle are forfeited if the card is switched out of the co-brand programme.

- 3 Aug 2026SBI drops Etihad Guest from the MILES transfer table — the last SBI door into the programmeSBI Card Travel Credits transferred 1:1 into Etihad Guest, one of eighteen airline partners in §3 of the MILES rewards T&C. At the ₹1/partner-mile anchor that was a full-value exit, and it was the only route left after the two Etihad Guest SBI co-brands were retired. → No Etihad route at all. The MILES rewards T&C now lists seventeen airline partners and Etihad is not one of them — the word does not appear anywhere in the seven-page document. Every other SBI partner survives at the same ratio.
SBI Card's own MILES rewards T&C, re-fetched on 22 August 2026 and carrying a 3 August 2026 ModDate inside the PDF, has one fewer airline in it than the edition this desk read on 2 August. The deletion is provable from the numbering rather than from absence alone: the table's first seven rows are unchanged (Air Canada 3, Air France-KLM 4, Air India 5, British Airways 6, Cathay 7), and every row from position eight onward has moved up exactly one — Thai from 14 to 13, Qantas from 17 to 16. Position eight was Etihad Airways / Etihad Guest / 1:1. All twenty-four other partners we carry, airline and hotel, are still there at the same ratios, so this is Etihad being dropped and not SBI narrowing transfers. The timing matters more than the ratio. SBI phased out the Etihad Guest SBI and Etihad Guest SBI Premier cards from December 2025 and reissued holders onto MILES products, and the transfer route was what made that migration survivable — a Premier holder who had spent six years earning Etihad miles could keep feeding the same account through Travel Credits. That is now closed, and India's remaining pipes into Etihad Guest run through BOBCARD's Etihad co-brands, not through SBI. If you hold SBI Travel Credits earmarked for an Abu Dhabi business seat, they are Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avios or Maharaja points now. ON THE DATE: SBI publishes no notice and no cut-off. The date here is the day the desk read the change out of SBI's own document; the PDF's internal ModDate puts the edition at 3 August 2026, which is the earliest day we can prove, not an announcement.
