What it's worth to you, after the fee
Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee
At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹100 gross (earn ₹100) against its ₹0 fee = ₹100 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.
3 notes on the card itself: how it is issued · the network variants · why it ranks #590
Why #590 Zero fee, zero joining charge and up to 20 domestic plus 4 international lounge visits a year puts a public-sector card above most ₹5,000 premiums on access per rupee — the 0.5% earn is what stops it climbing further.
The take
Canara does not publish a fee for this card because there isn't one: joining NIL, annual NIL, enrolment NIL, on the primary and every add-on, forever. What that buys is the best free lounge quota in India. Take the Mastercard World and you get three domestic visits a quarter for yourself plus two for a guest — twelve and eight a year — and two international visits a year with two guest visits alongside them, which is guest access on a card that costs zero. The RuPay Select is the modest sibling at two domestic a quarter and two international a year. The VISA Signature is the quiet winner on international access — Canara's own product page for it publishes three domestic visits a quarter AND one international visit a quarter, four a year against the World's two — but it charges for the privilege of not using it: ₹1,000 inactivity against ₹300, on double the turnover bar. Pick the network deliberately; it is the only decision on this card. Now the arithmetic that keeps it honest. Two points per ₹100, each point fixed by the MITC at ₹0.25 — 0.5%, capped at 10,000 points a cycle, no accelerator, no milestone, no welcome bonus, and no airline or hotel on the other end: cashback to the card is the whole redemption story. Forex is 3%, which Canara's own PDF brags is "Lowest among Peer Banks" and which is still 3%. And "free" has a floor — spend under ₹1,00,000 in a card year and the inactivity fee lands. Hold it for the door it opens, not the points it pays.

The downgrade
Canara Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.
If you call to cancel
What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →
The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.
What's good
- No joining fee, no annual fee, no enrolment fee — on the primary and every add-on
- Mastercard World: 12 self + 8 guest domestic lounge visits a year, plus 2 self + 2 guest international
- RuPay Select: 8 domestic + 2 international visits a year for yourself
- VISA Signature: 12 domestic + 4 international visits a year — the most international access of the three, on Canara's own product page for it
- ₹8,00,000 air-accident cover, ₹5,00,000 fraudulent-charge cover, ₹25,000 each of baggage and purchase protection
- Credit limit up to ₹50,00,000, and up to 50 interest-free days
Watch out
- "Free" is conditional: spend under ₹1,00,000 in a card year and Canara charges a ₹300 inactivity fee — ₹1,000 below ₹2,00,000 on the VISA Signature
- Canara's variants table leaves the VISA Signature's international-lounge cell BLANK — its own product page fills it in at 1 visit per quarter, so read the product page, not the blank
- 0.5% flat: 2 points per ₹100 at a fixed ₹0.25 a point, with fuel and cash withdrawals earning nothing
- No transfer partners at all — points redeem for cashback or the canararewardz catalogue, and the catalogue charges a processing fee on top
- 3% forex markup: better than India's 3.5% norm, nowhere near a travel card's 2%
- Earn stops at 10,000 points a billing cycle — the first ₹5,00,000 of monthly spend
- No welcome bonus and no milestone ladder are published for any variant
What these points actually fly
No live transfer route takes Canara Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.

Not confirmed on sale — the issuer still documents this card but we could not confirm it is open to new applications. Treat any application path with care.
Canara issues these through the branch and through its pre-approved funnel at jns.canarabank.bank.in, and the same tier is sold in a SECURED flavour — "RuPay Select Secured" in Canara's own variants table — against a fixed deposit, which is the route if your file will not carry an unsecured limit. Secured cards drop to 2.0% a month on revolved balances against 2.5% on the unsecured ones. The network is your choice at application and it is the only choice that matters here, so ask for Mastercard World unless the branch pushes back.
Canara Bank publishes no income or age cutoffs for this card. Blank means blank — we don't invent numbers to fill a grid.
