Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays from the first rupee

At ₹1,000 a month — ₹12,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹100 gross (earn ₹100) against its ₹0 fee = ₹100 net — at or above ₹0 from the first rung we price. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

The bank prices this card's points itself: "From 15th December 2024, the value of non-cash redemption (excluding airmiles) will be 1 RP = Rs.0.60", against an IndusInd house value of ₹0.80 that only the 1:1 Maharaja route on Tiger and the Pioneer shelf supports. Cash redemption is capped at 2,500 reward points a calendar month since 1 September 2024. The KrisFlyer door is open at the shelf-standard 4:1 — 400 RP for 100 miles — which is worth far less than taking the ₹0.60, so this is a voucher card wearing a miles card's redemption menu.

Best real exit: Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer at ₹0.28/pt (4:1 transfer).

The take

Start with the number the marketing does not print. IndusInd's credit-card nav links this card as "Get Lifetime-Free Platinum RuPay Credit Card" and the product page badges it "No Annual Fees" — but the bank's own MITC fee table charges ₹10,000 to join it. Both are literally true; the free part is the renewal. Ask the branch which one you are being offered in writing before you sign, because the gap between those two readings is ₹10,000. What the card actually does is the best thing on IndusInd's free shelf: link it to any UPI app and scan-and-pay earns 2 reward points per ₹100, twice the non-UPI rate, which is about 1.2% once you apply the bank's own ₹0.60 redemption value. Everything else is thin — 0.60% off UPI, 0.42% in the reduced-earn merchant bucket, nothing on fuel, no lounge access at all and a 3.5% forex markup that makes it a domestic-only card. The travel insurance is a genuine ₹2.25 lakh of cover across baggage, passport and missed connections. Take it if it arrives free; do not pay five figures for a 1.2% UPI card.

IndusInd Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 2 reward points per ₹100 on UPI payments — ≈1.2% at the bank's own ₹0.60 redemption rate
  • Links to BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm, so it earns where a plastic card cannot go
  • No annual renewal fee — the MITC's Annual Fee column reads NIL
  • Travel insurance up to ₹2.25 lakh: ₹1,00,000 lost baggage, ₹50,000 lost passport, ₹25,000 each for delayed baggage, lost ticket and missed connection
  • 1% fuel surcharge waiver, and rent payments are exempt from the 1% third-party-rent fee

Watch out

  • ₹10,000 JOINING FEE in the bank's own MITC, on a card its website links as lifetime free — get the offer in writing
  • 0.60% on non-UPI spend and 0.42% in the reduced-earn merchant bucket; only UPI pays properly
  • A reward point is ₹0.60 non-cash here, not the ₹0.80 house value; cash redemption is capped at 2,500 points a calendar month
  • NO airport lounge access of any kind
  • 3.5% forex markup, plus a 2% dynamic-currency-conversion fee from 15-Jun-2026
  • Fuel earns no reward points at all
  • Reward points accrue only on spend up to the assigned credit limit in a statement cycle
  • KrisFlyer transfers run 4:1 (400 RP = 100 miles) — worse than the ₹0.60 vouchers

What earns, what doesn't

5 sourced rules · 1 pay zero

The earn grid is a CHANNEL split, not a merchant one: "Earn 2 Reward Points on every ₹ 100 transaction done through UPI", "Earn 1 Reward Point for every ₹ 100 on non UPI transactions", and "Earn 0.70 for every ₹ 100 on select merchant categories (Applicable for both UPI & Non-UPI transactions)". IndusInd does not enumerate that reduced merchant set on this page, so no category below claims the 0.70 rate. One hard exclusion is stated: fuel. A cycle-level ceiling applies to everything — "Reward Points will be earned only for spends up to assigned credit limit in every statement cycle". No `qualifying:` block: there is no annual fee, no waiver condition and no milestone ladder on this card.

Fuel excluded — "Fuel transactions will not accrue any reward points"; the 1% fuel surcharge waiver is the only benefit on the category
Rent & property management full — Earns the normal rate, and Platinum RuPay is one of the cards the MITC expressly exempts from the 1% third-party rent-payment fee

IndusInd runs a standing acquisition push on this card — the promo slot in its own card nav reads "Get Lifetime-Free Platinum RuPay Credit Card" — so the ₹10,000 in the MITC is plainly not what everyone is charged. It is, however, the only joining figure the bank publishes, which is why it is the one we print. Ask for the fee plan in writing.

THE FEE CONTRADICTION, recorded: the MITC fee table reads "Platinum RuPay Credit Card | ₹10,000 | NIL | NA | NIL", while IndusInd's product page badges the card "No Annual Fees" and the bank's own card nav links it as "Get Lifetime-Free Platinum RuPay Credit Card". Both are compatible only if the free part is the RENEWAL. The MITC's "$" footnote about targeted lifetime-free promotions belongs to the CRED RuPay row, not this one. Earn: 2 RP/₹100 on UPI, 1 RP/₹100 off UPI, 0.70 RP/₹100 on select merchant categories, nothing on fuel, and only on spend up to the assigned credit limit in a cycle. Non-cash redemption ₹0.60/RP since 15-Dec-2024; cash capped at 2,500 points a calendar month since 1-Sep-2024. No lounge access. Travel insurance via Oriental Insurance totalling ₹2.25 lakh. Axis EDGE brings Accor back, drops ITC, and adds Cathay, Miles & More and Hilton
Accor and Marriott off the grid since 2 April 2026; Club ITC live; no Cathay, Miles & More or Hilton → Accor live at the punished rates; ITC removed; Cathay, Hilton and Miles & More live; Marriott still gone

Axis's own Travel EDGE terms, re-read 25 September 2026, already show the grid that went live on 23 September. Accor ALL is back, and not at the old Atlas 1:2: EDGE Miles convert at 2:1 (Olympus 1:2) and EDGE Rewards at 5:1, with Magnus for Burgundy at 5:2 and only Burgundy Private still at 5:4. Club ITC is off the table. Three partners are new. Cathay Asia Miles sits on that same punished grid. Hilton Honors is the ordinary one: EDGE Miles 1:2, EDGE Rewards 5:2, Burgundy 5:4. Lufthansa Miles & More is the exception on Atlas, which converts 1:1 there while every other standard airline on that card is 1:2; the EDGE Rewards side of Miles & More is the ordinary 5:2. Marriott stays removed. Qatar Privilege Club was already back. Flying Blue, Air India and Qantas moved into Group A, which is the capped group. The Axis Rewards credit card's Amex network is advertised as joining-fee and annual-fee nil for a limited period; there is no separate Amex variant on this board, so that offer is not modelled as a fee change.
