Welcome: Annual Swiggy One + Times Prime memberships and a ₹750 Harley-Davidson gift card, on ₹75,000 spend in the first 90 days

Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied: it earns nothing on utilities and fuel here, so that spend is dropped, not paid at the headline, and stops pacing milestones and the waiver. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹19,000 a month

At ₹19,000 a month — ₹2,28,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹2,500 gross (earn ₹2,500) against its ₹2,500 fee = ₹0 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

Diners Club
₹2,500 + GST
Annual fee1
₹3,00,000 spend
Fee waiver

This is a Diners Club card whose points reach no airline. HDFC publishes exactly four redemption avenues for it — SmartBuy flights and hotels at ₹0.50, the SmartBuy Privilege Dining catalogue at ₹0.50, the reward catalogue at up to ₹0.35 and cashback at ₹0.20 — and no Airmiles line at all, where the Infinia and Diners Black pages carry one. So the ₹1.00 house value is unreachable here: ₹0.50 is the ceiling, and our 1.33% rate already prices it.

The take

HDFC has stopped taking applications — its own card shelf now says "the card can be no longer applied" under this tile and under H-O-G's, and nowhere else — so this is a card you keep, not one you get. If you hold it, the lounge line is why it belongs on this board: 2 complimentary visits every calendar quarter, worldwide, for the primary AND the add-on card, with no spend gate published anywhere. Eight visits a year at ₹2,500 undercuts most of the mid-premium shelf, and the renewal waives at ₹3 lakh. Stack the quarterly ₹1,500 voucher at ₹1.5 lakh a quarter and the card pays for itself before you have earned a point. Then read the redemption table and the Diners badge stops meaning what you think it means. HDFC gives this card SmartBuy flights and hotels at ₹0.50 and cashback at ₹0.20, and it gives it no Airmiles avenue — the transfer estate that makes Infinia and Diners Black what they are is simply not switched on here. Add a 2,500-point monthly ceiling that arrives at ₹93,750 of spend and a 3.5% forex markup on a card sold on worldwide lounge access, and the shape is clear: hold it for the door, the vouchers and the ₹1 crore air-accident cover, and earn your miles somewhere else.

₹2,500/yr at stake · 5 spend bands

The charge ₹2,500/yr

The waiver ₹3,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal — about ₹25,000 a month — and the renewal fee is not charged.

Break-even ₹19,000 a month — ₹2,28,000 a year — is where this card's value crosses its fee.

At your spend

₹900 a year, net of the fee, at ₹3,00,000 of annual spend

₹6,700 a year, net of the fee, at ₹6,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹19,400 a year, net of the fee, at ₹12,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹21,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹36,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

₹21,000 a year, net of the fee, at ₹60,00,000 of annual spend — this clears the waiver, so no fee is charged

Everyday earn plus milestones, minus the fee — the same model as the value panel above, so the two cannot disagree. run your exact spend →

The downgrade

HDFC Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

What has changed under this card

  • 23 Sep 2026 Axis EDGE brings Accor back, drops ITC, and adds Cathay, Miles & More and Hilton a program these points reach
  • 15 Sep 2026 Wyndham splits its three flat free-night tiers into four a program these points reach
  • 8 Sep 2026 Flying Blue splits award tickets into Light / Standard / Flex — a 25% rise for the same product a program these points reach

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • 2 lounge visits every calendar quarter, worldwide — 8 a year, primary and add-on, no spend gate
  • ₹1,500 of vouchers every quarter you spend ₹1.5 lakh
  • 10X on SmartBuy flights and hotels — 40 Reward Points per ₹150
  • ₹1 crore accidental air death cover and ₹25 lakh emergency overseas hospitalisation
  • ₹2,500 renewal waives at ₹3 lakh of anniversary-year spend

Watch out

  • No Airmiles avenue at all — HDFC publishes no airline or hotel transfer for this card, Diners badge notwithstanding
  • 3.5% forex markup on a card whose headline benefit is worldwide lounge access
  • Hard 2,500 Reward Points a month — you stop earning at about ₹93,750 of spend
  • ₹0.50 is the ceiling per point (SmartBuy flights/hotels); cashing out pays ₹0.20
  • Base earn is 4 points per ₹150, not per ₹100 — the denominator flatters every rate you read elsewhere
  • Diners Club acceptance is still thin outside metros and worse abroad
  • Dynamic Currency Conversion adds 1.75% on top of the 3.5% from 15 May 2026 — never let a foreign terminal bill you in rupees

What these points actually fly

HDFC Reward Points move to Avianca LifeMiles , Air France-KLM Flying Blue , Etihad Guest , United MileagePlus , Air India Maharaja Points , AirAsia Rewards , SpiceJet SpiceClub , Accor Live Limitless (ALL) , Marriott Bonvoy , Club ITC , IHG One Rewards , Radisson Rewards and Wyndham Rewards — and those price every award dynamically. There is no published chart to quote, so we quote nothing: an estimate is not a seat.

Does your spend count toward the fee waiver?

not published — and we say which

₹3,00,000 a year is the bar that waives the ₹2,500 fee. A different question from the one above — earning points and counting toward a threshold are separate rules, and issuers write them separately.

Not published. HDFC Bank states what the HDFC Harley-Davidson Diners Club earns and does not earn, but has not published which spend categories count toward the fee waiver — the ₹3,00,000 bar. We won't guess it from the earn table or from a sibling card: Axis published three cards' rules on one day and all three lists differed. If you hold this card and have it in writing from the issuer, send us the document and we'll source it.

Joining and renewal are the SAME number — "Joining/ Renewal Membership Fee: ₹2500 + Applicable Taxes" — with the renewal waived on ₹3 lakh of spend during the card anniversary year. Lounge access is 2 complimentary airport visits every calendar quarter, worldwide, for primary and add-on members, with no spend gate published: 8 a year from one pool, not 8 domestic plus 8 abroad. Earn is 4 Reward Points per ₹150 of retail spend, 20 per ₹150 on Swiggy and Zomato, and up to 10X on SmartBuy including flight tickets and stays across 150+ hotel chains — all of it under a hard ceiling of 2,500 Reward Points a month, which arrives at about ₹93,750 of retail spend. Redemption is SmartBuy flights and hotels at ₹0.50, the SmartBuy Privilege Dining catalogue at ₹0.50, the reward catalogue at up to ₹0.35 and cashback at ₹0.20 — and NO Airmiles avenue is published anywhere on the page, which is why this Diners Club card reaches no airline programme. Welcome is annual Swiggy One and Times Prime memberships plus a ₹750 Harley-Davidson gift card on ₹75,000 of spend in the first 90 days; the quarterly benefit is ₹1,500 of vouchers on ₹1.5 lakh of spend in a calendar quarter. Insurance is unusually rich for the fee: ₹1 crore accidental air death cover, ₹25 lakh emergency overseas hospitalisation, ₹50,000 of baggage-delay cover (capped at $10 an hour for 8 hours) and ₹9 lakh of credit liability cover. Up to 50 interest-free days. The 1% fees HDFC levies bank-wide still apply: a fuel transaction above ₹15,000, utility spends above ₹50,000 in a calendar month, rent from 1 July 2025 and wallet loading, each capped at ₹4,999.

Axis EDGE brings Accor back, drops ITC, and adds Cathay, Miles & More and Hilton
Accor and Marriott off the grid since 2 April 2026; Club ITC live; no Cathay, Miles & More or Hilton → Accor live at the punished rates; ITC removed; Cathay, Hilton and Miles & More live; Marriott still gone

Axis's own Travel EDGE terms, re-read 25 September 2026, already show the grid that went live on 23 September. Accor ALL is back, and not at the old Atlas 1:2: EDGE Miles convert at 2:1 (Olympus 1:2) and EDGE Rewards at 5:1, with Magnus for Burgundy at 5:2 and only Burgundy Private still at 5:4. Club ITC is off the table. Three partners are new. Cathay Asia Miles sits on that same punished grid. Hilton Honors is the ordinary one: EDGE Miles 1:2, EDGE Rewards 5:2, Burgundy 5:4. Lufthansa Miles & More is the exception on Atlas, which converts 1:1 there while every other standard airline on that card is 1:2; the EDGE Rewards side of Miles & More is the ordinary 5:2. Marriott stays removed. Qatar Privilege Club was already back. Flying Blue, Air India and Qantas moved into Group A, which is the capped group. The Axis Rewards credit card's Amex network is advertised as joining-fee and annual-fee nil for a limited period; there is no separate Amex variant on this board, so that offer is not modelled as a fee change.
