Priced on the everyday mix — 30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else — with this card's published category rules applied. Plus milestones, minus the fee. No accelerator credit — the ranking model on /compare adds ~20% of spend at the card's best accelerator, so its ₹ for this card reads higher.

Pays for itself at ₹10,000 a month

At ₹10,000 a month — ₹1,20,000 a year — on the everyday mix this card returns ₹300 gross (earn ₹300) against its ₹300 fee = ₹0 net — the first rung at or above ₹0. The ladder runs in ₹1,000 steps to ₹1,00,000 a month and ₹10,000 steps to ₹5,00,000; figures are rounded to the hundred, and the accelerator is never credited.

Visa

Why #528 The middle of PNB's Visa shelf, and the rung where the credit limit stops being the constraint: ₹50,000 to ₹5,00,000 against Classic's ₹1,00,000 ceiling. It earns exactly what Classic earns and costs ₹300 more, so it ranks on the limit and on nothing else.

The take

Gold is the rung where PNB stops rationing the credit limit. Classic caps at ₹1,00,000; Gold is sanctioned between ₹50,000 and ₹5,00,000, and that is the whole reason to pay for it, because the earn does not move at all — PNB's Rewardz table gives Gold the identical one point per ₹100 it gives Classic, which at the 25 paise the MITC assigns a point is a quarter of a per cent either way. The ₹300 is nothing to get and ₹300 a year to keep, and PNB will waive the annual fee, but read the condition before you count on it. All three tests must hold: a year's usage greater than your own credit limit, at least one retail transaction — not fuel, not a cash withdrawal — in every calendar quarter, and an account that has never gone irregular. The first is the hard one, and it moves with whatever limit the branch sanctioned: on a ₹5,00,000 limit it asks for ₹5,00,000 of spend. On a ₹50,000 limit it is trivial. Nobody can tell you which bar you are jumping until the card arrives. Beyond that it is the Classic card with more headroom. No lounge access is claimed on the product page or in the fee schedule. Foreign spend pays PNB's standard 3.50% markup — the nil-markup benefit belongs to the LUXURA metal cards and nothing else. Two add-on cards come free. The cheap-when-things-go-wrong charges Classic gets carry over: ₹250 minimum over-limit, ₹100 cheque return, ₹100 card replacement, ₹50 PIN replacement, all half what PNB's RuPay cards pay. And the points still go to the PNB Rewardz catalogue or statement cashback and nowhere else — this currency has no airline, no hotel and no program hop.

The downgrade

Punjab National Bank publishes no document naming a card you can step down to, so we name none — an invented product change is a phone call you would waste. That leaves keep or cancel, and the numbers above are the whole of it.

If you call to cancel

What the bank offers to keep you is the one fact this desk cannot compute. We are collecting those reports — dated, and only in aggregate — before publishing any: an offer one reader was made is not one you are owed. Called about this card? Tell us what they offered →

The desk publishes subscribable .ics feeds for the dates it knows — offer deadlines, devaluations, expiry audits. Your renewal date is not one of them: only your statement knows it.

What's good

  • Credit limit from ₹50,000 to ₹5,00,000 — five times Classic's ceiling
  • Nothing to take out: PNB's MITC prints NIL against both the joining fee and the add-on joining fee
  • ₹300 a year, waivable — but on three conditions at once, not on a spend figure
  • 1 Reward Point per ₹100 (0.25% at the 25 paise a point PNB's MITC assigns)
  • Classic/Gold charge concessions: ₹250 minimum over-limit, ₹100 cheque return, ₹100 card replacement, ₹50 PIN replacement
  • 1% fuel surcharge waiver, minimum ₹10, on fills above ₹400 and below ₹3,000
  • Two free add-on cards and 20 to 50 interest-free days on retail purchases

Watch out

  • The fee waiver's first condition is a year's usage greater than YOUR OWN credit limit — on a ₹5,00,000 sanction that is ₹5,00,000 of spend, and PNB publishes no flat alternative
  • All three waiver conditions must hold together, and the quarterly transaction must be retail — fuel and cash withdrawals do not count
  • The earn is identical to PNB's lifetime-free Classic, so the ₹300 buys credit limit and nothing else
  • No lounge access of any kind, on the product page or in the fee schedule
  • 3.50% forex markup — PNB's nil-markup benefit belongs to the LUXURA metal cards alone
  • pnb-reward-points has zero ways out; the catalogue or statement cashback is the only exit, and redemption needs 1,000 points
  • PNB contradicts itself on the point value: the Rewardz page says 50 paise, the MITC says 25 and converts a negative balance at 25. This desk prices the MITC
  • Revolving interest is 2.95% a month, a 35.89% annual compounded rate

What these points actually fly

No live transfer route takes PNB Reward Points into a programme that publishes an award chart. These points buy catalogue and portal redemptions, not award seats — so this page has no flight to show you, and will not invent one.
