How we rank
Ranked by the forex markup published in its MITC, lowest first. Among cards at the same markup, by what ₹100 spent abroad leaves you: the card's own reward on a foreign-currency swipe (its published rule for international spend, at our value for its points — app-only points at what they fetch anywhere else) minus the forex markup published in its MITC / fees-and-charges document with the 18% GST issuers levy on it. A card that pays 1% but charges 3.5% + GST loses money abroad, and ranks that way. Remaining ties break on what the card costs — the charge to get it, then the fee to keep it from year two — and a card offered only by invitation from the bank's own clients never ranks first. Cards whose MITC we haven't researched yet are listed unranked below — we don't invent a number to fill a cell.

27 cards charge 0% — 13 of them do it for free: Scapia (Federal Bank), Scapia (Axis Bank), ixigo AU, IDFC FIRST WOW!, Niyo Global SBM Credit Card, IDFC FIRST Select, BOBCARD Uni GoldX, IDFC FIRST Millennia, IDFC FIRST Classic, LIC IDFC FIRST Select, IDFC FIRST Wealth, LIC IDFC FIRST Classic and IDFC FIRST Quantum+, level on both. Net of what each card pays back on a foreign swipe, HSBC Premier (Metal) comes out ahead: +4.83% of every ₹100 spent abroad (0.99% markup, 6.00% back). Against the standard 3.5% + GST — ₹4,130 per ₹1L spent abroad — that is the difference between a card that taxes your holiday and one that doesn't. Every markup below is read off the issuer's own MITC, not its marketing page.

442 of the 990 Indian personal cards we track are ranked here. 209 are listed unranked with the computed reason — not ranked — fine print pending, or silent on a rate — because a card we can't rank honestly gets named, not hidden. A further 339 are carried but not valued at all — 51 with no annual fee any issuer document states, 241 whose issuer has not published how the card earns, 47 with neither — because scoring an unknown as ₹0 is a claim, not a gap. Business and corporate cards are ranked apart from these: 70 priced ones sit on /cards/best/business, because pricing an MSME card against a personal wallet answers a question nobody asked.
