HSBC extends the RuPay Cashback card's 0% forex and ₹500 welcome to 31 December 2026

HSBC re-issued three RuPay Cashback offer documents on 18 September 2026 and moved every end date from 31 August to 31 December 2026: the 0% mark-up on foreign-currency spends ("valid from 15 July 2025 to 31 December 2026 (both dates inclusive)"), the ₹500 cashback for downloading the HSBC India app and spending ₹10,000 in the first 30 days, and two months of EazyDiner Prime on activation. The windows still start on 15 July 2025, so there is no gap: the lapse we logged on 1 September did not survive the re-issue. The ₹250 UPI cashback was not extended, and after 31 December the card's foreign spend falls back to the 3.5% in HSBC's RuPay tariff sheet unless the offer is extended again.

The card this affects

HSBC un-ended its own RuPay Cashback card. On 18 September 2026 it re-issued three offer documents — the 0% forex terms, the introductory-cashback terms and the EazyDiner terms — and every one now runs from 15 July 2025 to 31 December 2026, where the editions we read in August stopped on 31 August. The start dates did not move, so there is no hole in the middle: anyone who applied in early September is covered by the terms that now govern.

What that restores, for four more months:

  • 0% mark-up abroad. The offer reads “valid from 15 July 2025 to 31 December 2026 (both dates inclusive)”, on transactions “in any currency other than INR” — so a rupee-converted DCC charge was never covered and still isn’t. Balance transfers and Cash on EMI stay out.
  • ₹500 back on a ₹499 card. Download the HSBC India app and spend ₹10,000 in the first 30 days; “Offer ends 31 December 2026”. Add-on cardholders don’t qualify.
  • Two months of EazyDiner Prime on activation, same window.

What did not come back: the ₹250 cashback for two UPI transactions ended on 31 August and is gone from the product page. The ₹250 Amazon voucher for a video-KYC online application was never part of the lapse and still runs to 31 October.

Our take: this is a reprieve with a date on it, not a new rate. HSBC’s RuPay tariff sheet still prints 3.5% on foreign currency, and that is what the card charges from 1 January 2027 unless HSBC extends again — which is why we keep pricing the card at 3.5%. The reason to hold it hasn’t changed either: ten lounge visits a year for ₹499, against cashback that tops out at ₹400 a month. If you’re travelling before the year is out, use it abroad; just don’t apply for it because of the zero.
