This is SimplySAVE with a RuPay chip, and the point of the RuPay chip is UPI: link the card to any UPI app and the scan-and-pay you were doing off a savings account now runs on credit, with an interest-free period and Reward Points.
Our full review5 good · 6 bad
SBI's own booklet says those UPI spends earn under the card's normal programme, so the arithmetic is the parent's: ten Reward Points per ₹150 on dining, movies, departmental stores and groceries — 1.67%, because the unit is ₹150 and a point is 25 paise — capped at 5,000 points a month, and 0.17% on everything else. The ₹499 fee is reversed once you put ₹1 lakh through it in a year. What you do not get is anything to travel with: no lounge access, 3.5% on foreign spend, and points that reach no airline or hotel. And you mostly cannot apply. SBI pulled the product page, which now redirects to plain SimplySAVE, and offers the card to existing SBI cardholders by invitation. If the invitation comes and UPI is how you pay for groceries, it is a sensible second card. It is not a travel card.
What's good
Links to any UPI app — credit-card UPI payments on the RuPay network, earning Reward Points
10X Reward Points on dining, movies, departmental stores and grocery — 1.67% at SBI's 4-points-to-the-rupee rate
₹499 renewal fee reversed on ₹1 lakh of spend in the preceding year
2,000 bonus Reward Points worth ₹500 for spending ₹2,000 in the first 60 days
1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹500 and ₹3,000, up to ₹100 a month
Watch out
Offered by invitation to existing SBI cardholders — the public product page now redirects to plain SimplySAVE
The 10X caps at 5,000 Reward Points a month, then reverts to 1 point per ₹150
0.17% on everything outside the four promoted categories, and fuel, rent and government payments earn nothing
No lounge access of any kind, and 3.5% on foreign-currency spend
UPI payments work on the primary card only — add-on cards cannot be linked to a UPI app
SBI Reward Points reach no airline or hotel programme, and expire 24 months from accrual
Rewards
About 0.2% back on everyday spend, paid in SBI Reward Points worth ₹0.25 each. Up to 1.7% on its bonus categories.
SBI Reward Points are four to the rupee against the rewards catalogue — ₹0.25 a point, floor and ceiling. They reach no airline, no hotel and no transfer partner, and they expire 24 months from accrual. A minimum of 2,000 points is needed to redeem, and they can pay down the card's own outstanding at the same ₹0.25.
Base 1 Reward Point per ₹150 at four points to the rupee = 0.17%. 10X on dining, movies, departmental stores and grocery = 1.67%, capped at 5,000 Reward Points a month across all four, then 1 Reward Point per ₹150. UPI spends earn under the same programme, per the card's own booklet, which names the excluded MCCs below.
Zero points — MCC 5172, 5541, 5542 and 5983 are excluded from the Reward Point programme; the 1% surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹3,000 (max ₹100 a month) is all fuel gets
₹499/yr, plus GST. Spend ₹1,00,000 in a year and the next renewal fee is waived.
Breaks even only by erasing its fee at ₹9,000 a month
At ₹9,000 a month (₹1,08,000 a year), on everyday spending this card returns ₹200 (rewards ₹200), and the ₹499 fee is waived because the spend clears ₹1,00,000 a year, so it comes out at ₹200 a year, the lowest spend where it comes out ahead. How we find the break-even
Keep, downgrade or cancel?
This card reaches break-even by ERASING its fee, not by out-earning it: the waiver is the decision.
The waiver: ₹1,00,000 of spend in the year before renewal (about ₹8,333 a month) and the renewal fee is not charged.
Break-even: ₹9,000 a month (₹1,08,000 a year) is where its value passes the fee, and it gets there by clearing the waiver rather than by earning more.

₹99 + GST — physical products, statement credit and physically-shipped vouchers only

The interest (APR), add-on card fee and over-limit fee are SBI Card's standard, the same on most of its cards: SBI Card's standard charges.
Its own fee row, "SimplySAVE UPI SBI Card / 499 / 499 (Waived off on annual spends of Rs.1 Lakh or more in the preceding year)" — ₹499 to get and ₹499 to keep, reversed on ₹1 lakh. Add-on fee Nil per SBI's own product page; UPI payments run on the primary card only. Reward Points expire 24 months from accrual, minimum 2,000 to redeem.
₹1,00,000 a year is the bar
that waives the ₹499 fee.
Earning points and counting toward that bar are separate rules, and banks write them separately.
Not published. SBI Card has not said which kinds of spend count toward the fee waiver (the ₹1,00,000 bar). We won't guess it from the earn rules or a sister card.

Not on open sale. SBI's product page for it now redirects to plain SimplySAVE and the card is not in sbicard.com's sitemap, but the bank-wide MITC still prices it on its own row and SBI re-issued its 56-page T&C booklet in March 2026. The route in is a pre-approved offer to an existing SBI cardholder — SBI's own dated campaign for it was exactly that. If you do not hold an SBI card, plain SimplySAVE is the same rate card and you can apply for it.
Welcome: 2,000 bonus Reward Points worth ₹500 for spending ₹2,000 within 60 days of getting the card

SBI drops Flying Blue from the MILES transfer table — the second 1:1 door to close in two months
Before
SBI Card Travel Credits transferred 1:1 into Air France-KLM Flying Blue, row 4 of the seventeen-airline table in §3 of the MILES rewards T&C (3-Aug-2026 edition). At the ₹1/partner-mile anchor that was a full-value exit, and the cheapest Indian door into Flying Blue's Promo Rewards from India.
After
No Flying Blue route from SBI. The 23-Sep-2026 edition of the MILES rewards T&C lists sixteen airline partners and Air France-KLM is not one of them — neither "France" nor "KLM" appears anywhere in the seven-page document. Every other partner survives at the same ratio: 16 airlines + 8 hotels, 13 of them at 1:1.

SBI drops Etihad Guest from the MILES transfer table — the last SBI door into the programme
Before
SBI Card Travel Credits transferred 1:1 into Etihad Guest, one of eighteen airline partners in §3 of the MILES rewards T&C. At the ₹1/partner-mile anchor that was a full-value exit, and it was the only route left after the two Etihad Guest SBI co-brands were retired.
After
No Etihad route at all. The MILES rewards T&C now lists seventeen airline partners and Etihad is not one of them — the word does not appear anywhere in the seven-page document. Every other SBI partner survives at the same ratio.
SimplySAVE's maths on RuPay so it can sit inside a UPI app — 1.67% on four household categories, 0.17% on everything else, and SBI only offers it to people who already hold an SBI card.
We price the card on an everyday mix of spending (30% groceries · 10% utilities · 20% travel · 6% fuel · 34% everything else), using this card's own rules for each kind of
spend; it earns nothing on fuel, so that spend earns no points and does not count toward the fee waiver.
Then we add milestone bonuses and take off the fee.
This figure does not count a card's bonus categories (they need you to shop a certain way); our rankings add
each card's best bonus category on a realistic share of spend.
Our comparisons use this same figure.
