The card this affects

The cheapest card to spend abroad on in ICICI’s mass-market book is about to get cheaper: from 10 November 2026 it costs nothing at all.

ICICI’s consolidated Most Important Terms and Conditions, the edition stamped “Last updated on Oct 9th, 2026”, rewrites the MakeMyTrip line in its foreign-currency exceptions on page 9:

No Forex Mark-up will be levied on the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card (w.e.f. <Nov 10, 2026>) (Not applicable on the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Signature Credit Card and the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Platinum Credit Card).

The dynamic currency conversion table on the same page gets the matching line:

No Dynamic Currency Conversion fee will be levied for the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card with effect from <Nov 10, 2026>. (Not applicable on the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Signature Credit Card and the MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Platinum Credit Card).

What changes. Today the ₹999 card charges 0.99% (plus GST) on a foreign-currency spend and 0.99% on a rupee charge at a merchant registered abroad, both named exceptions to ICICI’s 3.5% standard. From 10 November both go to zero. A ₹1,00,000 overseas trip stops costing about ₹1,170 in markup and GST, and the card’s flat 1 myCash per ₹100 becomes pure gain instead of a refund of the fee.

Who it does not reach. Only the live ₹999 dual Mastercard + RuPay card. The MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Signature (closed to new applicants) and Platinum cards are excluded in the same sentence and keep paying the standard 3.5%.

What did not change. The fee (₹999 joining and annual, waived at ₹3 lakh of spend), the 6/3/1 myCash earn, and the ₹75,000-a-quarter gate on domestic lounges all stand. myCash is still a MakeMyTrip wallet: it pays for your next booking and goes nowhere else.

Why it is dated 9 October. That is the date ICICI prints on the document; we date the news to the day anyone could first have read it. The change itself takes effect on 10 November, and until then the 0.99% applies. The date sits in angle brackets in ICICI’s PDF, the way a template placeholder does, so we will re-read the next edition to confirm it held.

MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank vs Scapia (Federal Bank)

Two cheap travel cards that die inside an app: MMT's 0.99% forex + 6% hotel myCash at ₹999 vs Scapia's 0% forex and coins for free — Scapia wins the border, MMT wins the booking.

MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank vs ixigo AU

The two travel-portal co-brands. MakeMyTrip ICICI pays myCash: 6 per ₹100 on MakeMyTrip hotels, 3 on its flights, holidays, cabs and buses, and 1 on everything else, fuel included; ixigo AU pays 2.5 points per ₹100, worth 1.25% as ixigo money, but nothing abroad, where its pitch is zero forex. ixigo AU out-earns MakeMyTrip ICICI at every spend level the page tests, and it is lifetime free against ₹999 waived at ₹3,00,000 of spend. MakeMyTrip ICICI opens eight domestic lounge visits a year and one abroad; ixigo AU eight domestic a year, two a calendar quarter, and one Priority Pass visit abroad, issued on request.

Adani One ICICI Bank Signature vs MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank

Two ICICI travel co-brands, two closed loops: ₹5,000 of Adani airport points and 16 lounges vs ₹999 of MakeMyTrip myCash and 0.99% forex — one is an airport-app bet, the other the cheapest travel card ICICI makes.
